A game about a kid and the monster under his bed.

"Bedtime is supposed to be a happy event for a tired child; for this child it was terrifying. While some children might complain about being put to bed before they have finished watching a film or playing their favourite video game, when he was a child, night time was something to truly fear."

The game, like many of my horror games, tries to scare you without too many of the typical "screamers", instead relying on atmosphere and suspense.

Based on a short story by Michael Whitehouse

Probably going to work on adding more interactivity and reactions from the player character. Someone noted that it would add to immersion.

Actually, I found that the game can be made or broken by an active talking protagonist. Like in Ib, there was Garry who spoke a lot, but it didn't damage immersion at all, but there was also the Witch's house, where there wasn't a single line spoken until the very end, and it was terrifying.

But there are also games that try to add too much character, and their reactions just shatter the immersion for me. I just jumped out of my skin, I can assume my character shat himself too, I don't need my progress impeded by needless dialogue of them talking about how scary that was.

It's a balance you need to find, but is wholly dictated by the kind of game you're trying to make.

*Please note I have not played the demo yet, I will be doing so shortly to give feedback towards the puzzles*
I shall have to listen to more feedback about reactions, then. I'll definitely be adding more interactive stuff, though (things like text when you examine stuff).

Of cool. I just sent to a PM a few seconds ago with a detailed report on my experience and I actually did mention wanting a bit more flavor text, so that's good to know~ I woulda' posted the report here, but it's full of spoilers and I didn't know the code to hide stuff, so I just mailed it to you.
Hey man love this game i made a little playthrough of the demo and will cover the game when it comes out, if i am allowed to do that? Anyway great game can't wait to play the full versjon.

Sure, I don't mind people doing playthroughs, quite the opposite.

The target is sometime in the middle of June.
Perfect atmosphere! the demo alone scared the crap out of me, this is what horror games should be! not cheap jump scares.
i love this game! The horror atmosphere is the best that I've ever seen so far...
just a single question, how can i minimize the screen resolution? I mean ,to make it 640x480...
thanks for any response!

Glad you like it. Sadly, you can't make the resolution 640x480, since I'm using a script to change the resolution. If you really want to, and if you have RPG Maker VX Ace yourself, I can tell you how to remove the script in a private message.

Thanks! I watched my gameplay video and noticed that a 640x480 may be too small to see the graphics clearly. Now I'm used to the bigger resolution on this game.
Btw when would the completed version come out? I'm very excited
I aim to complete the game in 1-2 months.
I just finished the demo.....so scary!
I'm looking forward to playing the full version soon..!!! very excited!
Wow, the game is actually pretty good. I thought that game about child's nightmare would be boring, but this is quite the opposite thankfully. I was actually pretty nervous sometimes. Just one remark, please, do not make even bigger labyrints, I was a bit lost in the last one (at demo).
Yeah I'm planning on making that one a bit smaller, actually.
And there probably won't be alot more of those labyrinths.
Wow I just found out about this because of a screenshot on the front page. Rust n Blood was my favorite game from the Halloween contest so I'll be sure to play this. Title sort of reminds me of "They Breathe" which just came out on steam.
Only the title I hope. There won't be frogs fighting cows or whatever that game seems to be about, hah.

If you liked Rust n Blood, try Reap and Sow. It's real good.
