It's Christmas Eve, and Lieve has completely forgotten to get gifts for all of her friends! Rather than dare face the nightmare that is shopping on Christmas Eve, Lieve instead embarks into the depths of the Krampulian Abyss in search of its treasures (which, legends say, all make great gifts!)
This is a short action game where you search out presents. But Lieve can't fight, so she has no choice but to flee the monsters she finds. Includes:
I wanted to give a gift to RMN this Christmas for being such a wonderful community, so in December of 2014, I started putting this game together (At the last minute, you might say). I hope you enjoy this short, silly adventure!

- An underground dungeon to explore!
- 15 gifts to collect (only ten of which you actually need to beat the game)
- Done-at-the-last-minute art!
(and the characters don't match the in-game art-style at all!)

It might be a lot of fun to make a sequel, but I have this awful track-record of people asking for sequels, me going SURE, and then years passing without me making one. If I did make one, I'd need to plan it ahead so it could come out in December in whatever year it gets done.

Oh, I don't think I ever told you - for a long time, I was trying to complete a run without getting hurt. Whenever I got hurt, I would restart. I got pretty far! I should finish that challenge. My review was too short so I'll just say that the art and music are beautifully atmospheric and I'm impressed of the genre change from RPG to maze game done very well. I'll give it a 3.5

surprisingly balanced difficulty. Initially thought it was too easy but towards the end it was extremely tough. A nice and simple game.

Enjoyed a lot this game! I especially liked the music in the rooms where the gifts were laying down, and the sound that goes off when the chests were opend. It's something magical experience that I found a new gifts.
Oh, but, I unfortunately missed any of the extra gifts. It's rather impossible to pass through safely that mean monsters! >< (with the normal difficulty) Glad if it would be changeable at a later time.

While playing Last Minute Gift I realized that without consciously knowing it, I had always wanted to make a game like this. But now I won't have to, because you already did it, and way better than I ever could.
Despite its (theoretical) simplicity, this game is loads of fun, and the art is gorgeous. I can't believe you managed to create this all in just a few weeks!
The hardcore sections may be a bit extreme for my tastes (both difficulty- and graphics-wise), but I still enjoyed this game a lot.
Oh, and is it weird that as a character, I actually liked Mina more than Lieve?
I did however come across one small bug (I played the original version, so I'm not sure if you've already found it):
The teleporter that appears in the room after this one transfers the player to the wrong place.
I also have another question just for fun:

I didn't get all of the inside jokes behind the gifts and their recipients because I don't know most of them. But I did recognize Zero from Soul Sunder, and wondered what gift is actually intended for her. Could you tell me?

I see you recently added an easy mode so I'm sure the bees are less frustrating when you have more life.
I think it was a good call not to include a map. It's a maze after all, plus you designed the areas with enough character that after a while you get a good understanding of the place in your head and that's part of the experience.
Speaking of the areas I love the atmosphere of this game really well done.
