Demise V4.1 Additions
Yo, you probably saw the new version release. It doesn't continue the story but I did add things to justify the release.
- Some new story elements like another scene in Gardo's backstory
- Fixed story elements
- ATB edit is now in the menu
- New font
- Bug fixes
- Gameplay enhancements
- New barrier potion item that allows you to avoid enemies for a bit

Surprise new version release
Uh, hey. You probably forgot you subscribed to this game and that's ok.
It's been a while huh, I apologize heavily for the silence for so long, I've been busy with work since I now work full time and with life in general. Plus I've been experiencing a lot of burn out. However even though I wanted to add more, I decided to upload this new version which DOES continue the story, I believe it's another hour of content, with one new dungeon and party member. I also reworked a ton of cutscenes (like the intro) and maps (like the Forest of Shrine again god this is like the 3rd time I reworked that dungeon.)
The best new thing of all is that the skip cutscene function is fixed! I just replaced it with a better script, the only downsides are that some cutscenes are unskippable and some you have to skip multiple times. There's also new side quests in previous towns to add more variety. I even reworked some.
I should probably mention a couple things though:
- The only super boss you can fight right now is the one if the Forest of the Shrines, due to the level cap I'll need to rework their balance before I can release them, you will be given a reward when you reach them though.
- I started this game when I was still a teenager, and back then I got excited and promised a lot of things. So things like the previous trailers were removed and boss rematches won't arrive un till the game is finished.
Now I can't give you the date of the next version because I'm not sure, I live a busy life right now plus I'm burned out again so unless this version has some serious bugs don't expect any new updates any time soon. I do hope you enjoy this new version though! I will upload the version with RTP at a later date but for now you'll need to download the VX Ace RTP pack if you want to play this version.
IMPORTANT: Due to new improved scripts being added your previous save files will no longer function, I did provide a save file that starts at the beginning at the Path of Ora that completed all the current side quests if you want to use that one. I do recommend re playing the game since new stuff were added but that's your call.

Game mak machine broke.

So recently I did a dumb and broke my laptop by accident. Luckily I backed up the file so little progress was lost. I know I didn't post a update in a while but I'd thought it be nice to let you all know, my bad.

Progress Report
The reminder blog episode 3: Rest in peace old savefiles
I swear I'm not making these to farm makerscore.
Just a little reminder that, yes, I'm still working on the newest version. I do not have a release date because I can't predict the future, but I'll try my best to get it out as soon as possible.
Although, there's some bad news to all of this. After some editing, I unfortunately ran into a problem that pretty much makes your previous files useless. So the only options when getting the new version are:
1. Restart your playthrough (again).
2. Use the extra save file I'll provide in the newest version.
I'm very sorry it had to come this way, it was a simple bug fix script too. The save file will include every sidequest completed (as of where the last save is), current equipment and a different name for the protagonist (although you will receive a name changer item).
As for new stuff, I remade Forest of the Shrines (again again). Not gonna post screenshots this time. Also I plan on adding more (and better) sidequests after I finish the current version. Since, you know. Finally, since I got some complaints, I will lock up the Mt. Volcanic superboss as well as future ones until the game is complete, I may add some easier secret ones but we'll wait and see. The Forest dungeon superboss will still be available since that one is actually beatable.
Once again, terribly sorry for the save file issues, I hope you understand.

Miscellaneous
Break kinda over but not really. Maybe.
That break lasted longer than I anticipated.
So a couple important details I need to address.
1. I have a job now.
Can't believe I was working on this during high school and I haven't even finished it yet. But I guess that's common when you're making long games.
So pretty basic, job might interfere with progress yada yada yada. Hopefully it won't interfere with my motivation.
2. Changes.
I still have the picture of the new battle hud you guys didn't like. I'm just gonna use the one I used previous so I'll just say that I was lazy and left it there for a year.
Also after replaying Demise, I started to come across many issues I had (this is gonna be a common theme isn't it?). Though I'm not gonna change up the story too much, my main issue of once again, the first dungeon. No puzzles and a linear design. Plus the maps are a bit messy. So I'm gonna remake the dungeon, again. Unless you guys are totally fine with as it is. Let me know if you think so.
I'm gonna try and avoid making the huds pretty like I did last time, I'm going to focus more on finishing the game then making it pretty. I mean I'll still put in all of my effort don't get me wrong, just gonna keep the menu and battle huds as is. I also need to stop adding more menu options.
3. A new release on it's way
So I got a bit of progress done from a while back. No new dungeons finished yet but I finished some major story elements so I may release a new build. Probably might be an extra hour of content. Although I have to do a lot of tinkering before I can release it. I won't be making any promises, but I'll get it out one way or another to make this game relevant again.
4. Porkate talks about testing again
Still allowing people to test the game, having two testers (counting myself) probably isn't enough. If you want to test you can contact me on Twitter (@Porkate42) or Discord (Porkate42). Or just message me on this site. I'll let you know when the game is ready for testing, hopefully it won't take terribly long.

So you may be wondering where I went (all 26 of you, but that may be a stretch). Well you see, I kinda maybe sorta took another break from this game, again.
Too keep it brief, I was making another game. Not gonna go in much detail in this blog since it's a different game. Maybe if you ask I'll probably post a comment or something.
So during that, I wasn't working on Demise (gee go figure) so there wasn't any updates or progress reports posted.
Should've I told you guys sooner? Of course, big mistake on my part. But since I completed the game, I can take another break!

Another asking for opinions blog + progress still going
So I started posting on RMN
again...
And now I'm making a new blog
again...
If you read the title (I hope you did), then just a quick heads up that I'm still working on this. Just very slowly, I've been busy the past couple of weeks (graduated, party, and then moving) and I haven't been working on Demise for a while. This is why you never plan a release date, because it a bad idea.
I digress, I have a small question.
So I've been noticing that the turn-based battle system has been repetitive (Ya, now I figured it out), and I want to add another style of battle. Doesn't mean I'll remove the current one, just an extra one.
On-map battles, but not really
So the premise is that you're on the map and their is an enemy you gotta fite. The enemy will launch attacks and you just dodge them, when you get close and land an attack. After the attack, phase 2 starts, same thing but different attacks. Rinse and repeat un till you do it three times. Then enemy is defeated.
These will be only for certain bosses and not normal enemies, just a simple extra I wanna add. I haven't started yet because I want your onions first.
Would you like these type of battles in the game?
If the majority say "Sure" and then comment about turn based battles, then I'll do it. Of course if I can't pull it off then I won't be able to add it.
I just realized that this is the second blog in a row asking opinions on battle systems.
EDIT: Maybe "asking for opinions" instead of "small question" is a better title. It worked so well in my last blog.

Short blog today, I just want your opinions.
If you saw it, I uploaded a new image of the new battle system hud. I replaced it because while Yanfly's was good, I've seen it a lot (not really a bad thing mind you) so I wanted to add something new.
Although I didn't really ask for opinions since people could not like it and I have to add another download of Yanfly's battle system and it would just be a waste of time for all of us.
So which one do you prefer?

Obligatory V3.1 Release
Before I get started, I'd like to apologize for the lack of updates. I've been stressing with school lately and hanging out with a friend because he was moving. Now that I caught up with school and my friend moved (stillcryingeverytime). I can continue Demise.
Although to make up for the disappearance, I'm going to upload a new version. This version will have what the previous blogs showcased (besides the boss battle rematches). A couple of disclaimers before you download it.

Sorry for not updating after a while, I've been busy with life and school (and Spyro 3 Year of the Dragon). However I've been working on Demise more often (Mainly fixing a lot of things, hence why most of this blog is about stuff I fixed).
I'm hoping to release V4.0 this year however I don't know when this year. I'm still not accepting testers just yet, I'll let you know when however.
Anywho, here's more junk. Picture heavy load.
Upcoming Updates
Two blogs ago I mentioned that I'll be fixing some cutscenes and some story elements. Well in this one I'll go into more detail and show you more story elements I'm fixing.
1. John, Robert and Fern
These three were the biggest concern when it came to story elements. They were just "there." Hence why I added more character to them. Back then they were just regular NPCs that have a few lines, Robert joins you but seemed like he didn't give a crap and John only had one important cutscene. Fern just collected dust.
So when you first encounter them (Mainly Robert and John) at the Military Quarters, they have a short cutscene.

They also have a cutscene (Mainly Fern and Robert because John already had one. However it will be updated) in Fercio as well, just interact with them.

Other stuff include:
1. John and Fern actually comment on you surviving, not just Gardo.
2. Robert actually cares about the attack, as the above picture has shown.
3. They cheer you on when fighting Gardo, except for John.
4. John is the reason Gardo used Pierce on you since he distracted you.
2. Cutscene about the attack
Instead of a brief mention, Robert explains in full detail of what happened while you were in the forest. A short cutscene is shown of the monsters attacking the soldiers, the others going in the underground cave and Robert leaves them to find you.
3. Gardo
Gardo got a lot of improvement as well. I only mentioned one scene that needed fixing in the last blog, so I'll share several more.
The cutscene I talked about in the last blog has been fixed, a short conversation is had about the test.
The dialogue has been improved during the promotion test, like I mentioned before with John. Instead of going straight into battle, some dialogue is presented.
After the fight, the main character gets too excited and this happens.
Of course, you still pass.
Speaking of the test, I'm surprised no one called me out on my stupidity. I did some research and apparently Captain is a lower rank than Colonel, so a Captain is ranking a solider above his rank. So Gardo has been promoted to General, since it's higher than Colonel.
Probably the biggest problem with Gardo is his backstory, it's rushed, only Gardo looks younger, the Captain is just a knight. It needed some polish.
So Imade found some more resources from closet of younger versions of Sela and Vamp, also the backstory General has a design.
Instead of Gardo telling you his backstory, he takes you to the entrance of the Forest of the Shrines since it's a private area.
In the backstory, Gardo is a slacker and doesn't care for his job.
Argus fight is still the same but with more flavor.
Those are just the major updates for story elements, I'll also add/fix dialogue on certain cutscenes as well, I'll still have the extra file but I recommend re-playing it when the new version comes out to see the new cutscenes, they're miles better than the current ones.
I realized that I added banks not realizing that they're going to be worthless. Plus you can obtain a lot of money easily so you buy almost everything later in the game, thus I have a solution. Wallets, like in the Legend of Zelda.
In the beginning of the game you can only carry 1K gold, but when you get the wallet, you can carry 10K gold. There are two other wallets as well that go up to 100K and 1000K. You won't miss the first wallet, trust me and the other two will be obtained after a side-quest. I don't know if both will be in the new version but most likely one of them will.
1. Every villain has a signature move.
2. Inn prices go up by 50G in every new town.
Ya only two small updates whoops.
News
1. I finished Forest of the Shrines, not the best edit but I still think it holds well. Well that's just me, feel free to give me your thoughts. Only the spring and boss room remain the same (Big pics).

In the beginning of the game you can only carry 1K gold, but when you get the wallet, you can carry 10K gold. There are two other wallets as well that go up to 100K and 1000K. You won't miss the first wallet, trust me and the other two will be obtained after a side-quest. I don't know if both will be in the new version but most likely one of them will.

1. I finished Forest of the Shrines, not the best edit but I still think it holds well. Well that's just me, feel free to give me your thoughts. Only the spring and boss room remain the same (Big pics).
