North Point University rests in the heart of a mountain. Without cellphone reception and with the main point of access being by train, the University is known for its seclusion. It's summer break, but Meryl and her friends, Zaida, Ricardo, and Derek, find themselves headed to North Point University anyway to participate in a research project. They meet up with sixteen other participants and the student in charge, and soon find themselves victim to a heavy rainfall that floods the train tunnel. Stuck in the school, Meryl and the others continue the research in ways they wouldn't have expected.

Originally intended as a game for RMW's Birthday Bash, this game got too big and now it's just a really big thing. Rainfall is heavily inspired by games like 999/VLR/Dangan Ronpa and mixes visual novel with adventure game to bring a suspenseful little murder mystery with a colourful cast of characters and lovely maps by Indrah using VexedEnigma's POP! Horror pack.

Find items, solve puzzles, talk to people, and hopefully make it out alive when the rain begins to fall.

This game is coming to you from myself (MakioKuta), Racheal, and Indrah. Writing and character design by me, maps and writing by Indrah, and events and programming by Racheal. The usual setup.

We're still in the very earlier stages of development, but we're aiming to put out a demo that contains the Introduction and Scene 1 soon. The writing is done and the maps and a large bulk of the art and sprites are as well. I'm not sure WHEN we'll have the demo out! But we'll keep you updated along the way.

Stealth Demo Release!

Hello all! It feels like it has been a long, long time. It has certainly been a long, long time since we've mentioned this game at the very least.

After three years, we finally present a demo of Rainfall: Final Messages!

Why did it take so long? - RPGmaker MV is a pain. A pain that we decided to stretch our personal limits with this maker on. There was a lot of start and stop with this project as we hit roadblocks and overcame them. The final hurdles were finally overcome to put out this demo. It's been a lot of love and hard work from all of us, so we hope you enjoy it and look forward to hearing feedback.

The demo covers the introduction and 1st chapter of the game. It takes anywhere from a two to four hours to complete. There's a lot here! Especially a lot of totally optional text that I go "well why did I write this amazing conversation no one is going to read?" hahaha

Please read the Read Me file for controls and credits! And enjoy!!

P.S. The map is just a temporary one to give you something to work with. A more polished version will exist in the final game when the map is totally finalized (Aka don't let your programmer do the graphics).

P.P.S. Back to Fire Emblem I go. This might have been out two weeks ago if not for that lovely awful soul-crushing / soul-consuming game that I'm still not even done my first route.

Given how different the two games look and feel, I'm guessing that you'll probably be fine. ^_^
This looks really cool! I hope development is coming along, I can't wait to play this!
This seems that can be a very good game!I'm looking forward to it!
Alright, giving this a shot.

Feedback below.

-Title screen's art, animation, and atmosphere are gorgeous. Soundtrack is great as well.

-Mer's apparently a person who properly punctuates and capitalizes texts. I genuinely like how much character building is crammed into a single minor beat.

-Character portraits are cool as heck, and have this very distinct flair to their art style.

-Oh, good. These are college characters. They definitely feel like college characters, and I was getting a little worried every time someone said school that it was going to mean highschool.

-Soundtrack ranges from pretty good to impeccably dope. I like the brighter, more upbeat tracks less, but that may say more about who I am as a person than it does about their actual quality. Everything's good.

-Oh my god, the phone interface is cool. It's smooth, looks good, and is just all around really well implemented. I just wish the memo option was a little more telegraphed as a save game.

-Wow, the contacts descriptions for Ricardo and Zaida kind of make me instantly hate them. For Ricardo's, I get that that's totally the point, but Zaida's "don't even talk to me if you're not one of my three friends listed here" is biggest oof.

-The spriting and mapping is stellar.

-Huh, I wasn't sure what to think of the elf ears and stuff, but then a character mentions body modding and I have to wonder what exactly the rest of the setting is like.

-Campus map would be way more helpful if it labeled the buildings. Otherwise, things like "rec building's basement" mean nothing when consulting the map.

-I loved the email system in Alpha Protocol, and responding to texts in this is cool and fun in a similar way.

-Minor Bug: On the "who gets sick from just rain tho" / "uh, my immune system isn't good" lines, the character portraits don't seem to correctly switch.

-Dialog choices come along out of nowhere and my speed-clicking butt just accidentally autoselects whatever the first choice is. I have no idea who I selected as the hottest person in the psych trial, but I guarantee they were whatever option was at the top of the list. Even a second-long wait before the choice will accept inputs would be hugely helpful in preventing this.

-A "shit's locked" indicator on doors before I run into them would be hugely helpful. I think maybe a quarter of my playtime is slamming my face into locked doors.

-I don't know if there's a serial killer in this game, but if there is it's Levi.

-Minor Bug: After the rain starts, you can walk out the door on the left side of the first building, but if you try to walk in through that same door it says it's locked.

-Everyone sort of just accepts that this a monster research university? I feel like a few dashes more of worldbuilding would make this easier to suspend disbelief for. The only "this is clearly not our earth" detail so far has been the body mods, and it's cool as heck, but a few more nudges to let the audience know that, like, the supernatural existing is only as weird to these people as special ops teams are to us would be super helpful to the reader. Also if undergrads are able to blab this secret it feels really weird that it isn't just a known fact everywhere else in the world.

-Ah, okay. Apparently I thought Ivan was the hottest. Fair enough.

-Game's compelling. I don't know if I can play through the full demo in one setting, but this is really cool, and the atmosphere's amazing one the story gets rolling. The characters take a little time to properly introduce, and since most of the gameplay is retreading the same area and extracting new dialog every time there's a plot event it *really* leans on that atmosphere to stay compelling, but I like the overall game a lot.

Inspired by Danganronpa and 999? Sign me up.
Hello, is there a hint to the code puzzle in the storage room? There is a post-it that says Phone//SPOT. in the hanging telephone but i'm not sure what to do next.
Thanks!
Try thinking of the dial pad for a phone. See below if you need a image of one.

Let me know if that's not enough of a hint : )
Thanks! That's good enough for me to figure out. Just finished the demo now. Great game! :)
