Over two hundred years ago, the five heroes defeated the god of darkness; Ragnarok, in a climactic struggle for the fate of the world. Banished back to the realm of darkness known as the Abyss, the threat of the evil god had finally been put to rest once and for all...or so they thought.

Umbral Soul follows the story of Ragnarok’s loyal servant, Pandora, who joins her master in a quest to conquer the world and reclaim his lost power. In order to shroud the world in eternal darkness, they will have to find and recruit new allies, build an army of powerful monsters, and raise a force strong enough to crush anyone who dares to oppose them. Heroes, generals and rival overlords all stand against them. Do you have the power to make the world yours?

Pandora
A powerful dark sorceress with the ability to call forth monsters from the Abyss and enslave them to her will. Her burning hatred for the world and its people leads her to follow Ragnarok with unwavering loyalty.

Ragnarok
The god of darkness, who seeks dominion over the human realm. Once an extremely powerful being in the form of a monstrous demon, he has now been reduced to a mere soul. He wishes to plunge the entirety of the human realm into darkness, in part out of spite for his counterpart; the goddess of light, Lumielle.

Lanith
Beautiful, deadly, and self absorbed to a tee, Lanith is a succubus with a never ending hunger for the lifeforce of men. Having served under Pandora since she was only a child, she has a knack for getting under her skin, and does so whenever the opportunity arises.

Damien
A deeply twisted and sadistic young man, Damien loves nothing more than manipulating others and watching them squirm. While he has kept his true nature a secret, Ragnarok’s uprising marks the perfect opportunity for him to cut loose and have some fun...by killing as many enemies as possible.

Azrielle
The lord of all demons, who is fiercely loyal to Ragnarok and possesses an extreme, seething hatred for humanity. After failing to aid his master in conquering the world the first time, he has no intention of repeating the same mistakes again.

I'm back, baby!

Hey everybody, hope you've been doing well. I'm pleased to say I was just recently discharged from rehab, so at long last after over a month I'm home. They ran a whole lot of tests on me and I had several surgeries, so I am finally no longer in danger of croaking. That means I'm finally free to double down on game development, when I'm not stuck sitting in some doctor's office that is. Thank you all for your well wishes, they went a long way towards improving my mental health through that strenuous time. Welp, that's enough chatter. I've got some game making to do.

Great to hear you're enjoying yourself. In order for the slime to win that battle, you need to evolve it at least once. Once you do that, its maximum level will increase. You'll unlock the ability to evolve monsters as you proceed through the main story. It happens pretty early in, so you shouldn't have much further to go before it becomes available to you.

Wow, you're that early in the game and you're already level 25?! You must be a super grinder like me. How many poor innocent bees and Hydra Flora's had to perish for you to get that high? Anyway, to answer your question, both summons and main characters unlock all their moves before or around level 20. That being said, you're probably going to steamroll everything in the game now, but hey, that's half of the fun of being a villain, right? Get out there and kick some hero booty!

While I'm at it, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who contacted me about photo editors, and who took the time to send me resources. You guys are all awesome! I'd also like to give a very special thanks to Ebanyle, who sent me a highly improved version of Pandora's mother's faceset. It's a thing of beauty!

Thanks it took so long but the forest helped a lot especially fighting the bears lol but it was fine I haven't reached that far yet to evolve plus I did another quest were we ended up in the dark tower after breaking into the temple and then ended up in some crystal world and I gained so much exp from that as it was 600 exp per a fight and my main is almost to level thirty now.

Btw what is the RTP download about?
I finished the game it was really good well done it was amazing I also wished we could of played in the new dark world though btw was the end sequence the sequel or something. btw how many side quest are there I completed 24 side quests did I miss some?
Wow, that was quick! I didn't even think it was possible to finish the game that quick from the point you were at. I'll put the rest of my message behind a tab to avoid spoilers.

There is indeed going to be a sequel where you play as a group of heroes trying to undo everything you did in this game. Every summon, every ally, and every acolyte in this game will be trying to kill you at some point, so the characters you've played as will become bosses. Chances are if you've unlocked all the scenarios then you've finished all the sidequests. I'm working on a new version of this game with the glitches and writing errors corrected, as well as improved mapping, additional sidequests, new moves and a separate campaign where you play as Serene's party. Hopefully it's something you'll look forward to. Thanks for playing!
In the sequel will there be a base where your party can resign. I have to say the fact you can teleport to your base was my favorite feature.
Also, this is the greatest game I played hands down ^_^
Whoa, what a crazy compliment! Thanks! You'll be playing as a different group of people in the sequel, and unfortunately teleportation isn't one of their abilities, but they have plenty of other interesting ones to make up for it. If you've ever wanted the ability to shoot light beams out of your hands, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Edit: By the way Lion786, the RTP refers to the default resources you need in order to play an rpg maker game. A lot of people have already downloaded it, but just in case, I included a download that has the RTP bundled in, so the people who haven't got it yet can get everything in one big package.

Thanks for the swift response I'm certain I won't be disappointed. I'll write a review once I'm done with my 2nd playthrough (I have nothing but good things to say) I'm sure you've been bombarded with compliments in the past hope you get used to it soon.

Oh I don't think I'll ever get quite used to that, but one thing I never get tired of is hearing about someone having a good time. That was the whole point of making the game after all. That being said, thanks in advance!

my with every comment I read i just cant wait for the sequel :D

rly cant wait to find out what happens with serene and pandy and damien.
Also just curious question, what are the fans favorite characters?
Mine is Ragnarok.... he gives me the old grandpa wipe... and that is just golden for a goddamn god of darkness lol

Also can't wait.... but i will occupy myself with other things for now.... Though I am a bit sad by the fact that we won't play as evil again, but i guess its time to see the effects of being evil.

Thanks for all your work WheelmanZero.

I agree. I hope Wheelman lets us know soon, that lazy bum. Thanks for the support, guys!
Dark Imp secret

The dark imp says to buy 100 demon's draught, i did have the money, but i can only buy 99... I make sure i have no demon's draught with me. I did bought 99 but nothing happened... I already can summon him. Why i cant discover his secret? Where is my missing??
Honestly.... I have been wondering that too. But I think his secret is just not in the game... Maybe it is and i will find it out in the playtrough i am doing next...

But if you find the answer do share! =P
Oh, I can answer that. He was just trying to con Pandora into buying as many Demon's Draughts as possible by tricking her into thinking there was something special about him. It's kind of a running gag that carries over into the next game. Uh...I guess it worked a little too well.

While I'm here, I should explain how endings are going to work in the sequel. There will be certain special boss battles where losing will lead to an alternate ending. Instead of cutting right to the game over screen, you'll be able to see how the story unfolds as a result of your defeat. These battles will be called "crossroads of fate", so if you ever want to see what happens when your enemy wins, all you have to do is get your butt kicked.

love that rly cant wait :D
Does accumulating darkness from visiting various areas affect the story, or does it just help mechanically by boosting your stats?
Nah, it's only for evolving summons. The sequel assumes you've gathered as much darkness as possible and gotten the final form of every summon in the game. The outcome doesn't change depending on how my DP you gain.
