OFF Review

To me, this review simply oozes "I can't grasp or understand the complexities of this game, and I'm bitter about it."
There's no shame in this: OFF is, by technicality, an art game, something a more mainstream player like yourself may be unable to comprehend to it's fullest. The abstract elements of OFF make it rather unique: Had it a traditional world map, characters who spoke in less interesting fashions, and standard music, OFF would be simply a forgettable game, "just another RPG".
I'm from France myself, and I can attest that a lot of the subtlety is lost and some of the dialogue and naming of locations is butchered significantly by the localization, but I still think your criticism largely derives from a lack of ability to comprehend the game's abstract themes and ideas.

Beetle Ninja Releases October 14th 2020

author=LordBlueRouge
I was like "why is 16bitking releasing this on 14th-...."

And then mid-way through watching the trailer, I was like:

"...-Ooooooh! they're releasing it on October 14th cause the Catalyst happens on October 14th!"

Really clever piece of marketing here dude! lol! I love stuff like this!
Looking forward to more of this on the 14th!

Lol, really I'm just releasing it a bit early because I'm a bit tired of waiting. I was thinking of releasing it on the date of Harold Camping's armageddon prediction, October 21st, but the cataclysmdda.org prediction was closer so I changed it to sooner upon that realization.

Tried out the demo, I love the structure and flow of this game. It's not what I expected when it comes to progressing through the days and it being light on plot. Also learning skills through watching dvds is a neat touch, though would have at least like to see a tiny frame indicative of the movie. Regardless there's a lot of ideas here and I'm looking forward to release.

lol, I've thought about removing that demo because of how inaccurate it is to what the final game ended up becoming, but I'm very glad you enjoyed it regardless!

Japanese Translation Incoming

author=rpghorrorfan
Awesome, glad to hear that. I can kind of understand why it may be popular in Japan, I can see some influences in the design of the game itself. I still need to finish playing it and watch YouTube videos. Good luck with your next game. Hope you’re doing well. ^^

Well, to be honest the game is generally kinda a response to the more self-referential tone I often find in most American-made RPGMaker games, which I personally tend to have a bit of a distaste towards (and it seems Japanese RPGMaker projects are typically made in a manner similar to this: using primarily only structural advancements rather than aesthetic ones in original properties).
Where the Moon Goes At Night, retrospectively, isn't exactly a game I'm totally proud of, however I think that motivates me more to make Beetle Ninja a much better game, and as such early feedback generally seems to be far better than with Where the Moon Goes At Night (so perhaps the vertical slices I have tested are either just the game's strongest bits, or the game's turning out good? Who can say at this point lol).
I must also point out that the majority of YouTube content surrounding the game, at least that I've seen, totally ignores the majority of the game's secret content, and much of it is from the 1.0 English release which lacks in a lot of content and bugfixes.

50% demo out now!

Wow seems a lot of content! I wanted to wait for the final release but I am too curious to wait, this looks even better that WtMgaN.

At the minimum, the game is a far more technically impressive game. Due to it's open-ended structure, I don't quite think the strange narrative is as pervasive, but nonetheless, I think it is a better game personally.

When I try to cast one of the spells, I'll get a pop-up saying, "An invalid CBAData was specified." Then the game will close. Where can I get this data?

It's a problem with your computer, you have to redownload the game.

Misao Category Review

My personal thoughts on this matter:
I don't think any awards really need to be added to the Misaos, (with the exception of maybe one for hidden gem games, perhaps segmenting it off to only games with under 400 downloads on RPGMaker.net) since it already covers most bases, and if you continue adding stuff it basically secures slots for very niche types of games without much competition.
That said, it'd be nice if all nominees were displayed in order of the amount of votes they received, just so that the "placement" so to speak is more clear to the audience, and to assure a game "sweeping" the awards is less of an issue to people without forcing a "one game per award" rule.
I completely agree with the idea of having the option of removing certain games from undeserved categories.
That's really all I have to say on the matter.

Wow, I can’t believe I never got around to trying out this game until now! I’ve only just started playing, but I really like it so far. I have a soft spot for games made in rm2k3, and you’ve definitely achieved that surreal and humorous niche of some of those older classic games. Your sprite-work and designs are really well done and unique! I looked at your profile saying you have experience as an artist, it definitely shows! I can’t wait to play the rest in a few sittings! And this is amazing for a first game, you have some real potential as a developer!

Thanks a lot mate! This means a lot to me!
In truth, due to changes in the software I used for making art assets in Where the Moon Goes At Night, RPGMaker 2003 development (especially in terms of artwork) is a load more difficult nowadays, but I'd love to make more games, especially in the same engine!

"Insane Mode" and Misao Awards

author=LordBlueRouge
The Battle Animations were really cool in this!I wanted to capture them for the year-end round up thread but I didn't have time cause everything was so last minute. Please make more games 16bitking! Where the Moon Goes At Night was a really neat surprise!

I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I will work on a sequel to the game should it win any Misao award, but for the moment there is a short demo available for a side project of mine called "Chateaux des Lapins": https://gamejolt.com/games/chateaudeslapins/455290

Where The Moon Goes At Night Review

Oddly the long hallway did not bother me. I was referring to the last maps, the forest, the mountain and the final map, where I hoped to find more interactive spots as I was sure that some things I was were useful (like the skull inside one of the three), but no I was wrong (the first area for example, has the busy bots that are in fact useless but it gives a message that they are ignoring you). Eheh, not a problem anyway!

Oh, there's stuff there too (although admittedly it's not as extensive nor apparent as the busy robots)! I won't spoil it for you, but you should do some additional searching in those areas.
