[Poll] If RMN Had (The Money, Of Course) To Purchase One Of These Luxurious Sports Franchises – Which One Of These Should They Buy

Congratulations, Real Men Network! After careful calculations, and not to mention money laundering a massive amount of healthy donations and adsense revenue from one of the world’s greatest independent game making sites and selling off all of its creative assets to rich oil tycoons, Kenton Anderson, our glorious leader, has finally made the smart move for the future of this business and finally purchased himself a major league sports franchise. But with so many disposable options at his disposal – which one of them should he buy?

It’s up to you to decide.

Which one of these *sarcastic tone* “amazing teams” have the best chance of turning themselves around in a short time frame into a legitimate champion?

You must choose now...for the sake of the future...

So, The Playlist Option For Gamepages Seems Kind Of A Bit Wonky

So, duh, I just finally noticed the new update that gamepages now have a playlist option where you, or the author, or your mom – or whoever - can look up what users have added that particular game to their playlist. Okay, pretty cool, right? That’s a nice feature to know who’s currently playing or is interested in that particular game.

However, the two main problems that I have with it is that it doesn’t seem to keep itself up to date with current playlist information and it looks, dare I say, quite ugly with certain gamepages.

http://rpgmaker.net/games/2985/playlists/

For example, this is the playlist listing for Enelysion, a VX game created by yuna21 and, well, it’s pretty god damn popular at the moment. Anyways, if you notice that my playlist, "Addit’s Play Thingy," is on there but I don’t have it on my playlist anymore since I mostly use it to notify those of what I’m currently playing right now and reviewing at the moment. Yeah, it used to be on there a little while ago, but it shouldn’t be any more since I’ve deleted it from my playlist, so it’s not currently up to date.

The ugliness factor, well…I wouldn’t have much of a problem with it if you could hide the playlist option from your gamepages yourself manually if you wanted to, but I’m not sure if you can do this or not - and I would test it myself if I had a gamepage on here, *weeps* but, alas, one day.

So yeah, it doesn’t seem to be up to date and I’m not sure if you can completely hide it from view. (Maybe in the next update?)

So I’ve Noticed That RMN Hasn’t Updated Its Facebook Or Twitter Page In A While

Yeah, March 5th, what’s up with that? I thought that you guys were on top of the ball on these sorts of things.

Either way, it’s not a massively huge deal, but I am curious: who’s in charge of updating that and how come there hasn’t been any updates in a while? It’s not like we haven’t had much to talk about on here lately.

Is “This Game Is Just Taking Too Long To Complete” A Viable Excuse For Players For Not Playing A Particular Game

"I was interested in it, until, like, you know, they decided to delay it until next decade."

I always thought that this was an interesting discussion with various people that I know that would refuse to play a game – even if it was highly anticipated with them preciously before – simply because it was delayed or pushed back for a while, even if it was because of last minute game breaking glitches or for just more additional testing purposes. Isn’t that just weird? I know I’ve had some games that I’ve pre-ordered or looked forward to before delayed a couple times, but to refuse to purchase a game because of a little additional waiting time? You gotta be kiddin’ me. But still, that’s the type of world we live in nowadays, I guess.

I wonder how this might apply to our own games on here. When a game generally gets pushed back or delayed on here, does it ultimately hurt its overall chances at being more of a success than just being released on the day of its initial release - or even earlier? For those of you that have finished a game before, and have had to delay the release a little longer because of some last minute bugs or testing purposes, have you had others tell you that they’re no longer interested it because of the wait or do they not simply care? What about if the game took 2, 3 maybe even 4 years to get finished over what you initially thought it would be? I mean, look at Duke Nukem Forever and how long it took to get that done. If the game was released much earlier on in its lifespan, it probably would have been a fantastic success, but instead it was just simply more than just an okay game.

So do delays and additional waiting times matter in the long scheme of things or are these people just missing out on the fun and are extremely impatient? Either way, it's something to think about it.

[Poll] Sailor Moon Crystal

- So the rumors of a new Sailor Moon remake WERE true afterall!

As of right now, the first three episodes of a twenty-six episode full season is currently ongoing in Japan and is being streamed online on sites like Crunchyroll and Hulu every two weeks with each new episode release. I would imagine that once the first season has finished wrapping up by sometime in 2015 that this will be released worldwide and dubbed into many different languages like it was previously before. I’ve heard of many rumors that there was going to be a remake for this, but I just suddenly heard about it just right now from a friend.

As a curious onlooking male who stumbled his way into the series as a kid back then, Sailor Moon was pretty much the first anime I had ever seen before Dragon Ball and Pokemon came around. I basically owe my entire curiosity towards the subject thanks in large part to this show. I remember back then that if you were a guy and you watched this show back then and told people about it – you’d get your ass beat at school for it. But I didn’t care. I wasn’t the only guy who watched this show and wasn’t the only one who loved it. And I’m extremely pleased to see this show come back for a new generation of kids and adults.

The artwork looks amazing – and I’m glad that they’re speeding things up in terms of the episode count. I mean, they’ve already have introduced Sailor Mercury and Mars already, so that’s definitely a much faster start compared to the previous.

I’m excited – how ‘bout you guys? Did you guys end up watching the original back then when you were kids / teenagers like me, or was this one anime you personally avoided for some reason in favor of other shows? If you’re a guy that grew up watching this show, like me – were you ashamed to tell anybody about it? What was their reaction when you did? Also, who’s your favorite scout? Mine’s Jupiter because she was into sports, looked the most normal and toughest of the group, and is pretty my idle GF. :)

A Couple Of Questions On Having A Review Submitted And Then The User(s) Takes Down Their Gamepage

So I was just browsing around some of my old reviews lately and I’ve just noticed that although I have 29 games reviewed thus far that there seems to be one missing from my list of reviews under my profile page, yet I still have 29 and my total makerscore hasn’t changed. Curious, I discovered that one of my earlier reviews, for Reincarnation ~ Dawn Of War ~, seems to have completely vanished off the face of the Earth including my review along with it. Hmmmm…

Anyways, I can’t view it anymore from the submissions tab, nor does it show up in my reviews page, but at least it still technically counts and I still have the makerscore for it. My question comes from another example of this:

Okay, so Reincarnation ~ Dawn Of War ~ got completely taken down, right, including any reviews for it too as well as any posts on it in the gamepage, but how come for Kentona’s review of my game, Monopolo (the old one, back in 2009), is still visible under his reviews page but the gamepage is supposedly gone (or is it just hidden and not officially deleted yet???) Also, when Monopolo comes back, what happens to his old review of the game? Does it just get added back in there along with the new gamepage? Does he have to resubmit again? Or is that one just null and void now?

Anyways, it’s not too much of a big deal, but I thought I’d ask about it. I’m actually more disappointed that Reincarnation ~ Dawn Of War ~ is completely gone and buried somewhere out there in the vast regions of vaporspace. Ugh… (Damn you, Nessiah!)

This Looks Like This Could Be The End For Capcom

Newsbrief: Today, Capcom announced that at its most recent investor meeting, its shareholders voted to end the company's takeover defense -- which means that Capcom could now be acquired if a company buys up large amounts of its stock.

Many companies have defenses against a stock purchase takeover, and there are various schemes and strategies they can adopt to block a party from gaining control of the company by buying up its stock.

Capcom originally put such countermeasures in place in 2008 following a shareholder vote. This latest development won't stop the company's management from attempting to "react to make necessary measures within the admissible limits of applicable laws and regulations," the company said in its statement.

- It’s a fire sale! Everything must go!

Really, I’m not too surprised about this, considering Capcom’s recent track record and their last financial report that was released around last year, this was bound to happen, but it’s just so hard to take all of this in right now.

With this latest announcement, it’s soon going to be a major bidding war in an attempt for other companies to get their hands on some of its major IP’s, such as Megaman, Street Fighter, Dead Rising and Resident Evil.

I’m hoping that Nintendo might throw their hats into the ring, but I seriously wonder who else might be interested… Either way, this doesn’t look too good…

We’re witnessing the death of a legend, my friends. A legend that I hope survives somewhat even after death.

Have You Ever Completely 100%ed An Entire Game (Ie: Found All Items, Secrets, Etc.)

So all of us here have completed a wide variety of games before in the past – and that in itself is quite the accomplishment already (especially for all those 50 hour+ RPG games that are out there)

- But how many of you have actually finished a game totally, like, all 100% of it? Probably not nearly as many as you’ve actually finished, huh?

So that’s what this topic is for. Just exactly how many games have you completed all 100% of it?

Now I’m not talking about games like Mega Man 2 were it had no secret bosses, levels or anything else towards that nature (the difficult mode doesn’t count as it doesn’t really add anything substantial towards it, besides increased difficulty), as those types of linear games don’t count; however, games that have any additional content, like extra bosses, items, or hidden stages that count towards some kind of a completion DO count. You know what I mean.

As for me, I’ve completed 100% of the following:

  • Super Mario World (all 96 exits)
  • Super Mario 64 (all 120 stars – although I had to use a guide with me for the last 20 or so that I couldn’t find on my own when I was younger)
  • Star Fox 64 (all medals – even on expert, both Venom paths)
  • Super Metroid (all 100%, although I still had to use a guide for some of the missiles and energy tanks that I couldn’t find)
  • Super Smash Bros. Melee (all 51 event matches completed; trophies and characters unlocked)
  • Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong’s Double Trouble (finally completed all 105% of the game last week on my very own - woot)
  • Donkey Kong 64 (needed a guide, but managed to get all 251 golden bananas and everything else)
  • Kirby’s Dream Land 2 (all rainbow shards and exits found on my very own)
  • Kirby’s Adventure (all hidden exits and secrets found on my own)
  • The Legend Of Zelda: Majora’s Mask (needed a guide, but managed to find all the masks, heart containers and items)
  • Mega Man X - X4 (all heart tanks, upgrades and subtanks found)
  • Diddy Kong Racing (all 47 balloons collected on both adventure modes; all characters and courses unlocked)

That’s all I can think of off the top of my head for now.

So, Another Brand New Mana Game Is Slowly Upon Us

Square Enix have announced Rise of Mana, a new entry in their Mana series, for release on iOS and Android. Revealed in Famitsu this week, the game, like other recent Square Enix mobile titles, will follow a free-to-play model with micro-transactions.

The story begins when the main character falls from the heavens and lands on Earth. For reasons currently unknown, he or she has a body that is half-angel and half-demon. The real-time system will allow up to 8 players to play together at a time and be able to swap between angel and demon on the fly.

So this was definitely a welcoming surprise when I first heard about the news. For someone who grew up playing some of the earlier Mana games for the SNES and PS1 – I was wondering when Square-Enix would announce another one of these things.

Although the trailer for this game looks absolutely fantastic, it’s quite disappointing to see that this game isn’t being ported to any of the home consoles as well, like the PS4 or even the Xbox One or even offer cross platform play for the 8 player multiplayer component. As of right now, Dawn Of Mana, which was released waaaaaaay back in 2006 is the last home console Mana game to be released, which was about 8 years ago. (And that makes me actually quite sad.)

The free-to-play / mini-microtransactions worry me a little though, of course. After seeing some of the other mobile free-to-play / mini-microtransactions RPG games being heavily scrutinized as of late *cough* *cough* TALES OF PHANTASIA *COUGH*, I’m a bit concerned about how all of this is going to turn out. Although most of the mircotransactions, for now, seem to be centered around the weapon crafting system – or whatever the hell that means – I’m still worried that they’re still going to screw this up and do something stupid like charge people to save their games or something, similar to what Tales Of Phantasia did.

Oh well, this is still pretty good news. ^^

[A CHRISTMAS COMEDY CLASSIC] - ‘Twas The Moment Before Brunch

'Twas The Moment Before Brunch
A Merry Christmas Poem
A Short Doohickey Written By: Addit
Proofread By: Addit
Fondled By: Addit

Since Christmas is coming and it will soon be here, I thought I would share you all this poem that I so hold very dear.
It combines the elements of two things, featuring some random girl, and a guy with no name...

- - - - -

‘Twas the moment before brunch, when all throughout the house,
not a submission to be had, not even by a lot.
Gauging closer to the hour,
in hopes that my reviewer score will soon not sourer.

The total of guests seem to be at rest,
while lurkers and bots mostly ruled at the top of the clock.
And with my bottle of Jacks in hand, and with my husband soon by my end,
it appeared that moment of tranquility was soon about to come to an end.

When something managed to crash on top of the roof!
Whatever it was - it wasn’t getting "my" booze!
Away to the roof I went with shotgun in hand,
and a piece of bread for comfort, man.

The moon was high and so was the snow.
Given the frigid conditioned described, I should surely not know.
- When what is this!?
A man in red driving up to the porch,
with a broken down muffler, of course!

He was rather old and kinda fat, but so lively and so full of sash!
I knew that moment that I was in trouble,
as duplicate accounts go, I surely have doubled.

“So, you thought you could fool me, all smart and smug.
Don’t you know that we IP track that stuff.”

With nowhere to go, a clever idea soon began to show.
“I am not who of ye speaks, gentle kind sir. If you wish to ask
politely, maybe as a hostess goes, you just might leave here
with all five toes.”

As I readied my shotgun to give him the axe,
he soon countered straight right back.
A final warning was right then given to me,
“I’ll show you no f**king mercy,” as he began to open fire on me.

With nowhere left to run or hide, the bullets simply sprayed through longer this time.
I must have been hit more than once.
- How do I know?
Because I sure am blanking out a lot.

“Why must you do this; I bring you no harm!
As for that duplicate account, maybe your systems are all wrong!”

“You do not quite understand yet, that head full of mess.
When you signed up to join us, sometimes blood must shed instead.”
“Creating a second account is not quite fair.
Now I shall give you the consequences that I’ve prepared.”

Trying to stay on sight and focus on the fight,
I was losing too much blood.
I just couldn’t see right.

Suddenly, everything was getting quite dark.
My hands became gimp, even as I tripped.
I could not move my body.
I couldn’t even move my hips.

In the far distance, he soon began to speed away,
as far as he possibly could that day.
But I heard what he said, and it was quite clear,

“Merry Christmas, GarnetofAlexandria,

You’re career is quite over here.”
