AESTHETICGAMER'S PROFILE
AestheticGamer

I'm Dusk Golem, aka AestheticGamer. You can also just call me Ryan. I work on small RPG Maker horror games for contests and pleasure, that usually tell cryptic surreal stories and were made relatively quickly. Most of my games either feature mostly original or completely original graphics, art, and music. However, I also work on much bigger and developed games as well. My first big developed RPG Maker game I'm working on slowly over time is Complete Isolation. In the meantime, I work and release smaller things here and there, they're good practice and learning experiences.

You're the first person to post a game with this engine.
Hope to make it a decent first showing! The engine is still being updated but wanted to try to make a horror-adventure game with the current limitations, though I have been doing all the music, most of the sound effects, and have making a lot of models/sprites myself to mix with the engine defaults for what I need, but I do hope despite being the first not to be a 'typical' example of what made be made after. Hope to surprise some people, both with the game itself and for those who try the engine to see how much custom work was put into this first entry, but also to show what the engine can do despite all of its limitations at this point in time.

As a heads-up, this game is making leaps and bounds of progress at this point. If it continues going as swimmingly as it is now, it'll probably be released somewhere n September. Was delayed some for life things, I'll update it's profile soon.

This is .. interesting.
It seems more like a game made for catharsis rather than anything else. It's very specific and the ending in a way makes a lot of sense and ties it together because of that, but the realization seems to be unrelated to the game's content, in a way.
At first it seemed more like she had a heartbreak / breakup and she couldn't get over it.
And yeah, stuff. May write a review.
On the plus side - your choice of music is on-point and excellent!
Very interesting thoughts. Happy you liked the music, it's actually self-made and I think I've been getting better at my method of music creation for my last few projects.

So yeah, I was definitely calling her "Cootie" for short XD Guess I completely ignored the Patrootie part. But I thought this game was cute, fun, and it completely whiplashed my emotions once she passed through the cave wall! :D I made a gameplay for it (Part 2 will be out in a few days), and I just wanted to say I love Cootie Patootie and your voiceovers! :D
Lets Find Love!! | Cootie Patootie
Happy you enjoyed it, What might surprise more people who know my voice acting from my other little games (I doubt many would guess the person who voiced The Host in Close Your Eyes also voiced Cootie Patrootie) is that the voice is actually hardly modified, it's obviously one of the highest pitches I can reach but I think I only used RPG Maker MV's ability to go one pitch higher to make the dialogue a little faster as the only modification.
Will definitely be watching.

Does Cootie Patrootie hook up with Fido Dido?
... damn I'm old:( Nobody's going to know who that is.
EDIT1: Just started playing. I'm seriously like 30 seconds in and I'm already laughing my butt off with my teeth cracking.
One odd thing though. You'll need other people's input on this but to me it really sounds like the voice is saying "cutie"
EDIT2: I got up to the... ummm... dinosaur-esque thing. It's really interesting, a+ for audio and there's a good unsettling feeling. Using checkpoints instead of saves is interesting too.
I'm not a fan of the style of chase you used for the dinosaur-esque thing. You get going really good and then you're just outright screwed. Try again. But to make matters worse (something that isn't your fault at all) I meant to exit fullscreen when I accidentally hit F5 instead of F4. Damnit, MV why the heck did they have to put the "ruin everything" button right beside the "hit semi-frequently" button.
Anyway, I'll come back to this later. So far considering it's an event entry it's pretty cool.
EDIT3: Also, it's it Patootie or Patrootie?
Happy you liked it for what it is. The game name is Cootie Patootie, but the characters named is Patrootie.

Spoiler, so don't read unless you want to ruin your game, or you're the creator. Also, what's the remix called for "Give It Up" :
oh also, I should say, Marhsmellow is a guy, right? It seems pretty ambiguous, but Simon is also a sort of incarnation of the devil? but the whole you've done terrible thing you can never ever be forgiven for concept... I know I overthink, but though there are implications about things related to the character development, how do they indicate that the character was responsible for whatever went wrong to lead him to the party? Did the sister commit suicide during the part where it says "Thus, there was only one exit" or something similar, where it says "Thus, she did not watch tv" was it representing depression, does the car crash symbolize what happened to the mother? Was the mother in a coma where pressure was suddenly put on them to take up her responsibilities and try to survive on their own? Marshmellow seemed to not understand how to cope with the loss and isolation he felt of being left alone, or, left for dead and abandoned more or less which was reiterated by Simon in the jail but as someone who experiences depression in real life, I recognized what he said as being obvious lies pretty easily. Was he actually condemned by his depression rather than freewill, or otherwise his ignorance? The part when a girl called him outside, on the side, was that a tortured and killed cat as recreational activity (knowing how sociopathy/psychopathy is related to that sort of activity as it highlights a lack of affective empathy)? What WAS the sin he was supposedly being condemned for? I mean, you'd think it was murder, and yet, how was the way he reacted a sin when Marshmellow couldn't see any other way out of his "situation" any more than the sister? I mean, even if he was a sociopath, or a psychopath, how would that be his sin to own to warrant hell, especially if he was born that way or it was because of what he experienced? It never really explains what did happen and how much of it wasn't just lucid, or why he chose not to close his eyes... by moving forward, it implied, if those events he experienced were real, he was less afraid of what was behind him, and closing your eyes was a symbol for willfully facing the unknown just as much as moving forward was... yet Simon expressed his contempt for the way people were more afraid of the past than the future, while closing your eyes wasn't escaping the past or the future, but presumably dying meant, well, nothing, since Marshmellow was presumably dead anyways?
As far as I understand, blame and shame are the same thing except for with guys, it has a higher tendency to be externalized while girls have a higher tendency to blame themselves because of their neurological make up...
Ugh maybe this is just me expressing my frustration towards reality not making objective sense. .-.
But why was anything his responsibility to be blamed for?
Blah... hopefully something I said comes across coherently from my jumbled outpour of thoughts there...
Sorry for the late response, and yes, spoilers. I will warn, for a lot of things I've decided not to comment on, but a few things I can respond to:
Marshmallow Monk isn't specifically either gender, that's kind of open, and some have noticed MM is referred to as both a he and a she in the game. Unfortunately a lot of the following I won't answer, but I will say something. Simon and The Host are not the same person, though they do sometimes share a similar role. And The Host may not be specific to Marshmallow Monk. I also will say The Girl didn't murder anyone herself, this much is definitely evident in the game, but as The Host definitely implies, and some other things, she most certainly is sinful. I also can say Marshmallow Monk isn't dead during the course of the game, nor in purgatory. It's not a story of him being hung at the beginning, it's not a lie to say he legitimately did in fact escape death row.
I will pose the questions with another question; Marshmallow Monk is a murderer, this much is made clear. But does being a murderer also absolutely mean that they're a bad person? Or maybe a better way to poise it, why does Marshmallow Monk kill people? Everyone has a motive, a lot of the answers lie in the why, actually.

Looks like my type of game! I'm looking forward to this :-)
Hope you enjoy if you decide to play. It might be delayed by a small bit since holiday plans seem they might be moved up earlier than expected, but if that does go through it will still be hitting early/mid January.

I remember seeing this one greenlight. It looks good, hope to play it soon :D
Also I believe the greenlight page should be at the top so that peope can see it more easily, and maybe written in big text X3
Goal is to get it out in a little more than two weeks. I hope people enjoy it.
And I might, but I didn't want to advertise too strongly, though for Greenlight even as a freebie title and someone who's released a well-received game on Steam, you still have to whore yourself out some to bring attention to it. OTL

I finally got around to checking this out. I've reached a hallway that seems to loop infinitely in the demo. Is this the end of the content, or is there something else I need to do?
There's a tricky trick in the hallway, but there's more, there's a clear end to the demo is what I'll say.
If you get super stuck:
Try going up for a while.

This mapping is... do something with it.
Without saying too much, the mapping is completely intentional.
