Okay, I see. This definitely clarifies a lot.

Thank you very much~

Graphics Trouble

Hello, and thank you for clicking on this post.

I'm interesting in trying to make icons and sprites that would fit in games, but I'm very confused as to what size I should use. I made my first sprite by trying to copy the exact size of a Pokemon (Gameboy Color) sprite:

http://orig03.deviantart.net/8c41/f/2015/232/a/e/sprite___candy_chu_by_aetherrevival-d96gum6.png
(Sorry, my internet is being stupid and won't let me print it as an image on the forum.)

However..... When I went to make my second one, I did some exploring into Mario sprites and found that there were a lot of them in many different sizes.
Even in the same games (Super Mario Bros. 3 comes to mind mostly), Mario's sprite was much larger than a Cheep Cheep's, and Bowser's sprite positively towered over them all.

So.... Does the same thing apply for RPG Maker, or are they a little more picky about their sizes?

Or, do people make these things in large dimensions and just shrink them?

Global Bullshit of Video Games

author=turkeyDawg
bump!Pretty minor thing, but, when games make you hold up to grab on to ropes or whatever, especially when they're suspended over pits. A lot of times I think I'm holding up and right, but it turns out I'm not holding up quite enough and just plummet to my death. Replaying Mega Man X6 has reminded me of this, as they absolutely love placing ropes over pits and spikes! (Zero also gets a downwards plummeting attack activated by pressing up and attack. Three guesses what this leads to!)

Oh geez.... Have any of you ever played 3 Ninjas Kick Back on Sega Genesis? They take this to the point of 'Why is that vine even there'? At least at the first set of levels, which I was unable to get past, they had swinging vines attached to trees, that happened to have grown over spikes. The vine is so hard to grab, that when I jump for it, I always, without fail, grab the limb that the vine is attached to instead. Then, the jumping controls are so constricting that you cannot jump off of the tree without falling down and landing on the spikes anyway.

Pain is mandatory.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

If anyone didn't get it from that immediately, Unnecessary and annoying cutscenes like that one from FFX, you know? Laughs to make the pain go away!

Hah! Absolutely! Those cutscenes are so awkward. It makes me feel weird just watching them.

Oh my childhood Nightmares.

Childhood nightmares indeed.........

You know, I have to admit that I chuckled when they first changed to the scene with the rabbit. I feel bad for him now.

Killer Instinct was my big childhood love/hate game. It was so cool, but terribly spooky at the same time. Especially the really bleak versus screen. I still have memories of a time I dared to play it in the dark.

Just a playthrough video to show an example of it, for those who aren't familiar with the game.

Speaking of Killer Instinct, the new character in the 2013 game, Hisako, is kind of freaky:

I would post her theme song, but I think it's too cool to be frightening.

Oh, and while I'm thinking about it...... Skip to 5:46 in this video:

I found this boss a little disturbing as a child.

Honorary mention goes to this thing; I never liked this thing:

Me neither. I don't like the looks of it. Nor did I like it the first time I played Majora's Mask. I had no idea where to go, and that thing didn't help my brain work any better when it started making my screen have a spasm.

It also still frightens me that so many people a single person likes Pom Gets Wifi. Does that count?

Hah! If something gives someone the creeps, I think it can be considered freaky, so it's welcome here!

Actually, I always wanted to play Shadow man one day, now I will try it soon (yeah, I like these kind of games)

Hah, suit yourself! Personally, I think I found every reason to not play it.

Geez, this thread is becoming wonderfully decorated for Halloween. Maybe we should all come back at that night and review all of this content with the lights turned off for extra thrills.

And the ending:

Postal remake when?

But, seriously..... What the heck did I just watch?

[Artist for Hire] Commission Char!

Very nice works. Your pixel art reminds me a bit of Earthbound. Were you inspired by that artwork?

Thread for the Creepy and Disturbing

With it being the first of October, and Halloween around the corner, I thought that it would be a good idea to make a thread containing the fears and frights of the gaming world.

Be they characters, scenes, entire games, etc., they're welcome here, just as long as you find, or found, them to be creepy. Feel free to share what you'd like.

If you're bothered by this kind of thing, please do not continue past this point.

First, I'd like to share two OSTs from the same game that I found while browsing YouTube. I'm not usually bothered by a lot of video game tunes, but I found these things to be utterly Satanic:

Seriously...... What a disturbed individual that composer must be.

Super Mario World
Shit right here is my jam. <3

Heard it god knows how many times, but it'll never get old.

Agreed. This track easily makes it on my top 5 Mario favorites. I also enjoyed just watching the looped gameplay video that went along with it.

Of course, that had to be done sparingly. Parents are not too particular about leaving the electricity running.

Nostalgic game music

Thanks for this topic! I was looking for a reason to start a music thread, but couldn't quite think of one.

Super Mario Land 2

Super Mario World

I could've chosen any composition from this game, but I decided on this one, because it's amazing:

Kirby's Dreamland

Not really a favorite, but I have some enjoyable memories from this one:

Snake Rattle 'n Roll

[RMVX ACE] [SPRITING][Request] [Unpaid]Hyrule Warriors inspired Princess Zelda

I agree with Corfaisus. This is a bit of a risk for your reputation. If you have any other ideas that you can come up with instead, I would suggest doing that.

On the other hand, if you are dead set on this idea and have something really good planned for it, then go on ahead and just do the best that you can.
