Did you put Doctor Mario in the darkest corner of your room and shine a spotlight over top of him? I would have!
And, I would've immediately invited all of my friends over for dinner, after making certain that the dinner table was in full view of my display item, of course.

Which Castlevania Game is Your Favorite?

So, I haven't played that many Metroidvanias, and I've only played one Castlevania game before - Circle of the Moon. I had a pretty good time with it! What would you recommend I play next. I know SotN is the one everyone really loves, is that a good place to start?
Honestly, I'd say that any of the GBA Castlevanias or Symphony of the Night would be your best start. I think that they are probably the most intriguing Metroidvanias. However, I would also suggest trying one from the DS age as well. While I'm not particularly fond of that group of Metroidvanias, they're still enjoyable to play, and they may appeal to you more than they did me.
In short, I would suggest trying an 'old-age' Metroidvania (GBA, SOTN) and a 'new-age' one (DS).
Ultimately, I suggest going with whichever one appeals to you most, and having fun with it~
Which Castlevania Game is Your Favorite?
Hah, not really. I'm not too crazy about flooding a forum board with the same, or a similar, subject. But, I was thinking maybe one that's more generally music-based, that way it can include more of a variety.
Which Castlevania Game is Your Favorite?
Hmmm, Castlevania does have some simply amazing music all around. I can't really name one of the older games that have disappointed me in terms of music. Perhaps it would be a good idea to further discuss this in a topic about Castlevania's top notch score?
Which Video Game-Based Movies/Shows/Animes did you Enjoy the Most?
I hear a lot about the Mario Bros. movie being terrible and nothing at all like the game. Hearing it brought up again here further solidifies how horrendous it must be....... and it makes me want to watch it really badly. Hah, thank you for helping me decide on a future purchase, everyone!
Amen. M. Bison is, without doubt, one of my favorite villains found on television. He, Skeletor from He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, and Shredder from the 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series, are the most amazing villains I've seen. Period.
I remember seeing the Street Fighter animated movie mentioned on the internet before, but I've never gotten the chance to watch it. I was never really going to watch the other movies I've mentioned that I like, but I was hanging out with some friends when they brought those movies out, so I thought it would be kind of rude to leave. Funny, I wound up liking them. Maybe this is a sign that I should give more video game movies a try.
As for Pokemon..... The only reason I didn't mention that is, for some odd reason, I kept thinking that it was an anime first. Pokemon is one of my dark secrets. I love that series and I own a handful the movies. I've fallen terribly behind on my collection, though. With my gaming habits overtaking my movie watching, it's been terribly hard to keep up on television programs.

My favorite though is the Street Fighter movie featuring Raul Julia:
Speaking of characters who know it's their job to be the bad guy...

There's a Street Fighter animated movie which I think is literally called "Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie" which was really fun. I don't play SF myself, but I'm familiar enough with the characters. You should watch it if you think watching M. Bison teleporting around and screaming "YOU CAN NEVER STOP MY PSYCHO POWER" would be hilarious (which it is).
I don't watch the anime, but I like some of the Pokemon movies, basically the ones that I saw as a kid. Pokemon 2000 is my favourite, and I'd like to think that it, along with FFVII's Highwind, kicked off my obsession with planes and airships. Seriously, as a kid watching it, the airship in 2000 was fucking badass and blew my mind, even if the design makes no sense whatsoever looking back:
The 3rd and 4th Pokemon movies were pretty enjoyable too, if memory serves. I personally don't have a lot of patience for the overly preachy and soppy morals of the first one.

Which Video Game-Based Movies/Shows/Animes did you Enjoy the Most?
With the popularity of both rising since their births, intermingling was to occur sooner or later. As time goes on, we have more games based off of televised entertainment and vice versa.
So, with that being said, which movies, animes, or television shows, based on a video game, did you enjoy watching the most? Share all that you'd like to here!
Remember: This is asking about entertainment that first started out as a video game, then was turned into a movie, ect. For example, you cannot choose 'Naruto', because it was an anime before they made video games from it. That's an answer for another topic!
Now, for my opinion...... Personally, I'm not all that big on having cinema based on video games, as they usually wind up dissapointing me. However, I can say that, from the ones that I have seen, I enjoy Mortal Kombat (1995) and Street Fighter (1994).
My first choice, to me, was actually well done for a video game movie and I thought that it was a close enough to it's roots to make me feel like it was actually part of the series.
As for my last vote...... The reasons are purely because I found the movie to be so absurd, and humorous in that I did find myself laughing at quite a few things that the movie directors likely did not intend to be funny.
For one instance: The casting. I could not believe that the characters I saw were supposed to be the characters from the game. I think the only ones that I'd picked out immediately were Sagat, Zangief, and M.Bison, only because they had the similar costumes. To this day, I still scratch my head and wonder why the other characters were not also appropriately casted, or appropriately dressed.
But, besides the cheesy action sequences, and the 'witty' dialouge, that is another reason I would willingly watch, and laugh, at this movie again.

Which Castlevania Game is Your Favorite?
You think so? I, personally, thought that the Lords of Shadow series' music was kind of a disappointment (I did listen to some of it's soundtrack, along with giving a few looks at it's gameplay videos in my spare time). I'm also not really into movie-styled soundtracks, especially when it's concerning video games, so that's the main reason I didn't really get into it.
I just assumed that a lot of people felt that way, because the style was different compared to the older soundtracks.

First Time Gamers
Mistakes are pretty much me every time I try up a new video game. Even if I'm familiar with a genre, there's always some different gimmick that I manage to find, and the result is usually either:
1. Scream and die.
2. Yell 'What the heck?!' and die trying to run away.
3. Die before realizing what just happened.
My siblings usually let me try new games, probably because they enjoy watching me try to play them.
I do have to say that my worst series is probably 'Hitman'. I don't think I can name all of my idiotically homicidal attempts at stealth. I do remember one of my first times playing a board in a giant hotel, where I sneaked through this civilian's room and tried to assassinate my target on his balcony. All's well, I'm on the balcony, no one notices me, and I can see my target in his room. So, I start assembling my sniper rifle, when the civilian comes out onto the balcony and is just sitting there watching me. I have no idea how he sneaked up on me, but I flip out and stand up, alerting my target's bodyguard, whom immediately starts shooting at me while I'm trying to give the civilian a sleeping syringe. I wind up murdering both of them, then having to destroy the entire police force, because they start flooding onto the balcony.
I never got my target, but I went down in a blaze of glory!

Lament and Judgment are my two favorites. Lament has the best atmosphere, while both Lament and Judgment have the best whip gameplay.
I agree on Lament of Innocence's atmosphere. Konami did a great job capturing the dreaded atmosphere of the castle.
I can't really comment on Judgment, as I have never played it. I've seen that it's frowned upon by a lot of Castlevania for a lot of different reasons. I may try it some day, regardless......
I can say that I've heard the soundtrack to it, and it was definitely worth my time.
Does anyone like Dragon Quest?
I've had the chance to play a few of these games and I've found them to all be enjoyable. I've always loved the artwork, the classic sound effects, and the interface is friendly for someone who doesn't get into super in-depth RPGs. The plot line may not be Final Fantasy, or anything, but I've always found the stories to be interesting and satisfying, and in many cases, touching.
'Sentinels of the Starry Skies' is a simply amazing installment, but my favorite goes to 'Journey of the Cursed King'. I would play that game for hours on end most everytime I got the chance. Unfortunately, I got to the end of the game and never finished it.
