It was how he initially posed it, it just sounded like a weird way to bring it up to me. I was also confused why he wasn't just using his ability, but of course it makes a lot more sense now when I look back on it.

You're right, that would be a horrific fakeclaim, but it was also possible that scum might have some tricks to get an extra kill or something, and so even with a lie that would be found out the next day they might be able to just rush to parity with one-time armor to save them from a lynch.

I knew that no matter how hard we tried, we could manage to immediately lynch our healer, let two townies bleed out, and not win despite scum whiffing a night kill! \o/

I spent the first couple days thinking that since I was a miller there might also be a godfather, and that the "no flavor claiming" was basically to keep everyone else from knowing that anything alignment-based was going to be unreliable. I guess in a very roundabout way it did work out kind of similar :P

At first I thought it was also possible that there would just be two levels of alignment/role: some people are vampires, regardless of town/scum alignment, and some items only would work on or for them, or wouldn't work on or for them, or that there would be some item that would kill a vampire if they acquired it, etc.

That's also why I was like "let's just not use the holy water" at first, since I was slightly worried it would just kill me.

OK, I think Psy's logic actually makes sense. We're all around here. If demon isn't scum, then scum is just sort of choosing not to win for no real reason.

Unless it's Psy and Tale. But if that's true then we have already lost.

Let's hope that the morning sun will vanquish the awful night.

OK, I did some reading.

I don't think that Psy would show up with all this reasoning if he was scum. There would be no reason to put that much effort into it given what else is being posted.

I'm kind of lukewarm on Demon being scum. The misunderstandings about why odd would need the item, his reading of whether Jeroen had him on his scumdar, all those seem fairly natural. At the same time, it feels weird how he has kind of buddyied up to me, first when I said Odd should just use his power, and second today when I was talking about what we should do with the item. That feels a bit scummy.

Killing demon is still the only play today. I don't buy cave+tale scumteam because they'd have to have spent last night whipping each other for the hell of it

Cave being bored with this game and wanting to spice it up doesn't sound impossible to me at all. I also think that jives with choosing to NK me instead of someone without armor.

I also say that I find it a bit suspicious that Tale doesn't know what the vampire killer does because, when I received the armor, I also learned what it did in some fairly certain terms. I don't understand why Tale wouldn't know more about their item.
