You kill Giygas by PRAYING for him to go away, and... you get to teleport your friends home... and then that Dr. Demento lookalike cameraman who has been following you around creepily since day one shows you pictures of your adventure while the credits roll. Then one night you get a letter from Pokey saying 'Ha ha ha, you haven't stopped me yet!'. So... shouldn't Pokey have... I dunno, returned to normal now that Giygas isn't possessing him? Nintendo said 'ha ha ha, buy our sequel, which will NEVER come to America!' ...grrr.

It seems like whether you COOPERATE with your opponents OR greedily set out to screw everybody and win in true capitalist fashion, you ALWAYS get the 'overall, the colony FAILED and no trade ships are going to come here ever again the population will forever live in huts' Ending. Like, HOLY CRAP, I tried keeping Prices as LOW as possible AND then I tried keeping all prices as HIGH as possible, but the ending never budges! Why bother with the colony at all if it's going to 100% fail?
