Villnoire is Complete!

As someone that's been there, congrats. Nevermind the happy feeling you get by finally releasing something you've worked on for so long, it really is like a weight is lifted. I know that's a cliche, but god damn if that isn't exactly what it feels like.

Rise of the Third Power freeware version permenantly going down today at 5:00 EST

Hmm... I'll give it some thought, but I'd rather not. I'd prefer if the finished version is the only one available.

@Kentona that'll be the sequel if we make one, incidentally.

D-pad support, volume control, and epilogue incoming!

My understanding is that Cherry modified RPG_RT.exe so that it detects the PoV hat (which is what the d-pad is set to by default). It's enabled by default, just by using our patched RPG_RT. So no, it doesn't do any keyboard remapping or anything like that.

Inhuman Resources

I'll just say that Ara Fell used mostly rm2k3 RTP. It was mentioned in 2 reviews that nobody paid attention to, and once in a Steam review. I doubt it's worth putting much effort into.

That being said, with R3P, I intend to do 100% non-RTP SFX. But for a game with relatively low production values, I really don't think you need to worry. Hardly anyone will notice or care.

I do think RTP will keep you from going viral. But, despite its popularity, I doubt Hero's Realm is a viral game.

The OneShot remake is now on Steam! (And on sale!)

If Steam reviews are indicative of sales, I'll say this;

Ara Fell currently has 81 reviews since June 2nd and has sold considerably better than I expected. As of now, OneShot has more than 400 reviews. So if we can guess that OneShot is doing 5x Ara Fell's sales, in the last 18 days, they're doing extremely well.

Congratulations guys. This thing is going to turn out to be the next Undertale or something. Awesome work.

>Having said that, if the goal here is to take a game and put fancier clothes on it, so be it.

I'm not sure what you mean by "fancier clothes" but I'm all but certain that's not an accurate way to describe this.

The idea of this (and Ara Fell) was to take a game that's already finished or close to it, fix it up and improve it, replace the graphics and music, then sell it.

Remaking it from scratch would be cool, but it defeats the purpose of doing it. We don't want to throw away all the work that's already been done.

If Hero's Realm does well, we're going to see if there's interest in other people's games that can get the same treatment. We'll be looking for games that are relatively complete and polished, that won't take like $10,000 to commercialize.

Hero's Realm is the perfect test case to see if this is a viable business model.
