Why is RPG Maker stuck in the 20th Century, graphics-wise?
The main reason rpg maker is still 2d is because 1. japs like 2d graphics and 2. because imagine how much a 3d game maker will cost if the normal 2d maker is 60 bucks...

That's because it is a fact. FF7 looks like garbage. Cloud is like this ugly walking polygonal bitch and is way way way too far away from the "camera" the whole game. I'd take snes RPG graphics over that shit any day.

You do know that ff7 use prerendered background and the game was not really 3d (except for the characters models and the battles, they look 3d to me) right? I even dare say the game was kinda isometric most of the times.

I am interested but how much will you charge if let's say I ask you to make ma a title screen, chipsets, chara sets for like (4 main character, 10 to 30 npc, like 5 bosses), systems and backgrounds pics for the battles, game over screen, panoramas and facesets for the whole 4 main team?

I had the same problems with vista using rm2k3 nightblade ;D I never bothered with it because it only happened sometimes.
Help with cms numbers
I've had a problem like this and fix it but I don't remember how. I think I used some if commands when a certain number is more than 9 the picture for the number that I didn't want would be a blank pic. But seriously I don't remember what I did.
Best RPG Maker?
The best rpg maker being the best is more of a matter of opinion. There are people that said rpg maker 95 is the best of them all while other people say that rm2k is the best version, but that rm 2k3 while it does have side view battle system it is the most bugged of the two. And there is rpg maker xp and vx where you can script whatever you want in the system, from tactics game like fire emblem to platformers like mario (in theory, I never seen a platformer made on xp/vx yet.) The main problem with xp is that is not noob friendly as vx is but vx has a lot of limitation that can only be corrected by the use of scripts and that is not as noob friendly as you think. I use vx because I find it simpler to use than xp and rpg maker 2k3 sometimes annoys me with is the the pictures, you can only have a certain bit depth with rpg maker 2k/3 and that is pretty annoying, but vx.xp does not and that is why I use it.
