There is not one or a set of things that make a game fun. There are tropes and ludologies which people return to over and over again because they have been proven, but what makes a game fun completely varies from game to game and from individual to individual. So I do not think that this is the proper way to adress the topic.

I think a more appropriate focus would be to ask, "What do people find fun about well done RM games?" which is essentially the question that people have been answering.

The number-switch puzle was fine and took a little bit of brain power but it was pretty okay. The first maze was just a maze which in itself has its ups and downs. My biggest beefs were with the repeating rooms and the time loop puzzles, I just didn't know if I was doing it right because the puzzles themselves never game me any signs of progression. Note this as a fundamental aspect of a successful puzzle: the player knows whether or not their efforts are actually solving it.

Merch, its all about the merch. You move merch, you are in the zone. That 25 dollar tshirt you bought at the concert was marked up %500, and the band gets all of it if they funded the printing themselves. Those $2 buttons are worth pennies. Artists are becoming more and more dependant on moving merch.
I hate to see you guys say that musicians don't get a big cut of record sales, or that it is not a source of income, because there are a lot of bands on smaller or independent lables, whose major income is, as it was mentioned, touring and record sales. If you're not a part of the corperate conglomeration (in which everyone makes money anyways) the fact that someone can get your music for free can be a real detriment to your income. Case studies: Any band on Nitro Records. You used to be able to tour for three months, take three months, off, tour another three months, and then go back and cut an album. Now indy bands are tourning nine/ten months out of the year just to make enough of a living so that there is something left to cut an album with.
Still, its a sort of 'vote-with-your-money' kind of thing when it comes to buying music. If you pay for an album (NOT on resale, none of that goes to be band) then you are making an active contribution to supporting thier art. I do this and consider it the best thing I can do to keep the music that I like round aside from actually GIVING the band money (which I have also done.)

I have to say, this did not meet my expectations. I tried for like an hour to do the repeating rooms puzzle with no success, understanding that the little noise means you are going the right way, but still couldn't find my way out. I skipped it, and went on to the time loop puzzle, which was just ridiculous. I had no idea what I was supposed to do, and found myself doing the same things over and over again. I never found out what happened to Zack, Broomhilda, and Baron von Niddly!
