Final Fantasy IV DS (didn't find an old one)

I think the graphics really help with the characters and the feel of the game. When I played IV as a kid, I never really fully got that Cecil was a bad guy, and the intensity of Rydia's forgiveness and Cecil's betrayal to Baron. I could be misunderstanding shit, but Kain's character seems a lot more stronger and even cold now, and I'm looking forward to his betrayals.

Battles just need to be tweaked. Certain small things are a few seconds too long and it really adds up and makes the battles tedious (start of battle, magic animation, ATB wait time, victory). Once again, Square has chosen graphics over game play it seems with the battles. They do look quite pretty.

I'm quite enjoying myself so far, despite the faults.

American Exceptionalism: I drank the kool-aid. Did you?

The poor can become rich in all industrialized nations, and I'd think easier in other industrialized nations due to programs helping the poor that America doesn't have.

I don't mean to come off sounding like I hate America. America is a decent country, but claiming it's the best when there's so many blatant things wrong with it seems off to me.

Uhhh.. you don't need to be a radical marxist to realize that American nationalism is scary and without good reason. It's up there with China and Japan in scary nationalism.

What makes America amazing? The amazing gap in rich and poor? The electoral system which doesn't allow grassroots parties to get a foothold? The lack of a social safety net? It's policy to only uphold capitalist regimes that do trade with them? That it's one of only two industrialized countries that still has the death penalty?

I'll speak for the rest of the world (without their permission) when I say America is a better sole superpower than Russia or China would be. America is less scary than those countries. I'd much prefer the EU personally.

Final Fantasy IV DS (didn't find an old one)

The fuck? The graphics all seem out of whack and unprofessional. Sometimes the camera shows areas of the map and when the angles changes and that area of the map is covered up, it's inaccessible. I've found many strange invisible walls. The walking motion looks like floating more than walking. The map on the bottom screen seems very tacked on and some from a second or third tier RPG, not one of leading series of the genre.

Wow! The voice acting is really rad. They really redid the script (IV for the Super Famicom had no kanji, and they invented huge big kanji words this time). I think it reads well, and the music and mood is great. Cut scenes are overall very well done. Cinematic camera angles and whatnot.

Overall, seems so different from the Dragon Quest remakes and less professional than Final Fantasy III for the DS. Strange. I wonder why?

I've just left the castle and am on my way to the valley of Mist. I'll post more impressions later.

If there is an old topic a few months old, I really prefer starting fresh rather than reviving an old thread that everyone reads through again thinking it's new only to realize halfway through it's not and get angry at me.

Favorites Songs from Bands/Artists

Bomb the Music Industry- Side Projects are Never Successful
Propagandhi- Purina Hall of Fame
Weakerthans- None of the Above
Ghost Mice- The Moon Will Rise
Fugazi- Burning Too
Belle and Sebastian- My Wandering Days are Over

A small sample. Music snobbery is silly.

Square-Enix release dates for early 2009

I've had V for a while (in Japanese) and it's great. Basically the same as IV, but it's a far superior game (and actually, my favourite RPG of all time).

Let's Play! Final Fantasy IV Edition! ALSO A GENERAL FINAL FANTASY DISCUSSION TOPIC

X is the best non-16 bit Final Fantasy.

I'd love to play it again.

It appears I'm outnumbered in my opinion. All good. Different strokes and whatnot.

I wasn't attacking you, I was just genuinely curious. Sorry if I came off the wrong way.

Does your reply suggest that if it's not thought about too much, then people don't care if it's something else or not? Or perhaps it's just because it's what people whimsically want to do and they feel they shouldn't have to change something that isn't meant to be a big deal, and they feel shouldn't be a big deal, but when such a small thing gets attacked, people get defensive. Which I suppose makes perfect sense, and my work viewing habits shouldn't really get in the way of that.

Hmmmm.

All Japanese Rpg Character Art considered Anime?

I like you.
