This guy's avatar looks suspiciously similar to the one of IndieDB's most active member, guy who invited me in Resident Evil fun group for no reason and who did uploaded Yume Nikki there.

I don't think this i much of an improvement. These carpets were awkward but original. Something you can work with. This is just plain awk. You haven't got rid of the most eyes smashing problem. There is load of unwanted free space. I would recommend you to enlarge the watered surface. Maybe add small islands with statues or something. Make some stairs or something to make it look less flat.

Some RM Game names I really like...
'Princess Princess', 'Mirror Mirror' -I like when someone doesn't feel ashamed of his fav word
'Devilender' -my personal favorite amongst Crazenames.
'Tantibus' -cool word, i guess.
'Everything will be fine' -It won't.
'Black Future' -cuz it's Black Future.
'WWF vs. WWF' -game based on its name.
'The Brief and Meaningless Adventure of Hero Man' -It gets me information I value the most, estimated time I am about to spend with the game.
'Ovnogesl v3' -I wonder what Ovnogesl means.
'Azure Waves' -cuz Paradise Blue was already mentioned.
Oh, there is just so many. I like like every second name for being either somehow good, cool or super cliche.

What appeal of the open world goaless games?
author=CashmereCatyep, exactly.author=Cap_HI think I've got a game for that.
Then I look out the window.
~Time to throw something out.
I have an urge to refer to this game since I've played it.
author=LibertyActually, these things can happen in real life. The Probability is almost non-existing, but they can. Video games are part of it after all. And these mindfogs had to be created somehow. For NPCs these games are reality.author=kentonaI play games to escape real life, though...Same. I don't look at it like Zephyr, I guess. I make a 'new life' in the game - hence the RP one I'm currently doing. I mean... it's not like real life has skeletons who shoot the shit out of you and teleporting endermen who steal dirt blocks and melons and scream at you with a horrible voice or zombies that wear armour and their tiny zombie children who ride chickens into battle or giant flying tentacle creatures that cry and spit fireballs at your or a hell dimension full of nastiness and lava or floating islands in the sky or villagers that offer ridiculous trades (well, okay, maybe it does have them ;p ) or jungle temples with traps and treasure to find or ocelots that turn into different breeds of cat when you tame them or animals that reproduce on 'command'(they don't have gender and breed when you feed them) or the ability to change where ore spawns (want diamond to spawn at the top of mountains? You can do that~) or giant darkwood forests with huge mushrooms growing in them or mooshrooms or underwater temples that are guarded by laser-shooting octopodic-type creatures where the only treasure you find is gold (bah) and sponge (double bah) or pyramids that have an explosive trap that destroys the treasure if you're not careful or underground chasms filled with water and lava and so many ores to mine or enchantments that can be applied to armour, weapons and tools to make them do various things like breathe underwater or increase the drop rate of special items or ... I could go on. I haven't even touched on mods and there are literally hundreds of them, all doing different things like allowing you to build a rocket to go to the moon and Mars or magical ones that let you indulge in ritualistic sacrifice or build golems and enchant shit or use the power of flowers to create stuff or build a factory that makes drugs or... so much stuff. So very, very much stuff.
The only issue I have with the game is that it uses Java. Of all things. Fucking Java. Why?! ;.;author=kentonaIt was a more introspective assertion, with the hope that maybe I was missing something here in my assertion that I don't find those goalless games fun.
I have heard enough reason why people might think it is fun, but have concluded that it's not fun for me.
My current gripe is a trend of games moving towards the soulless empty pointless expanse game design - like in No Mans Sky, the new Zelda, FFXV, MMOs in general, Elder Scrolls etc.. (or on the flipside, completely linear highly scripted paths like Collar Doodie or FFXIII).
It's like... there's no more room for the middle ground, focused but with freedom.I do agree with this - a lot of games nowdays are missing soul. They try so hard to copy other games that do shit better, instead of focussing on making that game special instead. There are some good ones, sure, but unfortunately there needs to be more focus by the creators on what they're making and less on what worked for someone else's game. :/
And I don't think games are getting soulless. I know, that wasn't what you wrote. The problem is that the industry moved. There is more good and original games than ever. Rock Paper Shotgun is reporting few new stars every day. AAA production is something what the player-developer should avoid. There are good AAA games too. These are rare.

I've never played Minecraft. My sister did. She did so for several months. She doesn't play games otherwise. Or she does but not with such a passion.
I like other goalless games. Crusader Kings 2 are superb, The Sims 2 were always fun. Going on rampage in GTA never gets old. Actually, I don't like goals sometimes. I don't want to fight anymore, keep getting stronger. I want my tight realm and just live. Then I look out the window.
