Dracula X Mafia (GAME OVER - MAFIA VICTORY) [MAFIA]
The fictional characters I love feel more real than I do.
mario is unreal
I passed the Bar Exam in MO, looks like not working on my game for 4 months to study was worth it. haha
Dracula X Mafia (GAME OVER - MAFIA VICTORY) [MAFIA]
The night is without an end and its haunting the remaining vampire hunters. Monsters are everywhere and followers of darkness use every opportunity to stab, slash or pierce one of them. They're bloodied with guts all over their once shiny outfits. They make it out of the Clock Tower
Finally, the last two hunters reach the final tower. It's just a short climb, few stairs, few bone pillars. They can smell Dracula in air. The stage is tough but they have way more difficult parts of this adventure behind them. Some parts of the castle seemed impossible and yet, the two of them survived.
There's not much to talk about no more traitors to think about. You enter Dracula's chambers and start throwing holy crosses and axes all around you. When smoke settles down, the three hunters stand there weapons ready to attack and oak stakes at hand to finish, but the Dark Lord is nowhere to be seen.
"Maybe he's invisible."
"I don't think so. There are three of us now."
"My dear, Dracula's already among us!"
Dramatic music starts playing.

RMNMeet 2020
So, I would like to renew this thread a little?
1) Do you still think there's a possibility for an international meetup in August?
2) Would you still be intersted?
Personally, I'm sticking to my preferences and I think that a smaller city like Mainz might be a good idea in times like this.

Thoughts on the state of RPGmaker and it's community?
I would say that the community is in a better shape than the maker. There are reasons for it. There are not many places like olde RPG Maker communities. Try to check forums on itch.io. There's not enough space for fun. It's all business.
As for the engine, the concept of RPG Maker is becoming obsolete. MV is too bloated to make simple jam games. There are many better tools like bitsy and pico today to make small and light games. And MV isn't versatile like other big engines such as GM and Unity.
It's still a great choice to start working on an RPG, but I bet that you find yourself migrating to a real engine soon with a more ambitious project.
Let's return to the community. RMN (I can't talk for other RM communities) isn't engine dependent. It's dependent on people, who like making retro rpgs, resources for them and talk about their favourite art, story and design choices. There are specifics to this community. We talk about mapping instead of level design for example. I would say that local events have a unique feel as well. It's a warm place to be a part of. Ofc RPG Maker projects are still a big part of this, but I can imagine this community to mostly abandon them and still hold together in some form.
Personally, I'm not working on anything right now, but I have several games on back burner. Each of them has a specific role in my personal development as gammaker. One is a community game, one is focused on making it as pretty as possible, one is supposed to push limits of RM2k and one is focused on narrative (it's an even moodier remake of one of my existing half-broken game).
Why am I talking about? One, I like to mention my halted projects from time to time to remind myself of them. Two, none of them is a serious project. For that I would use a more sophisticated tool than RM2k. Three, I'm still hanging around engaging in RM related discussions without being an active developer myself and that's because of an holding power of the community, which is not as narrowly focused as some other communities.
That said Sooz's right about its niche appeal.

Dracula X Mafia (GAME OVER - MAFIA VICTORY) [MAFIA]
End of Stage 3

The group is in a sore state when it enters Clock Tower, two members are almost dead and the rest is fending off hordes of beast. Suddenly, they notice that all of theses hellish nightmares don't attack Demon Lord. The group gathers at a sizable moving platform.
"Could you explore to the left? There should be some hidden power-ups. We will continue fending off Medusa Heads meanwhile," another hunter says to Demon Lord.
When he leaves, the remaining four hunters start a dangerous conversation.
"Have you noticed that some monsters don't attack him?"
"Yeah and that name Demon Lord. It looks like a cool name for a demon hunter, but it's a great name for a Follower of Darkness".
"Let's let him fight the next boss fight alone. And if he manages to win, we're going to kill him anyway."
Demon Lord returns with some holy water and handles it over to Emily, who is bleeding hard:
"This should treat you wounds."
They continue up the tower. There are no stairs, just many rotating gears and enemies everywhere. It's a tricky terrain and it comes as no surprise when wounded Cavern Doggeth gets between two gears. They turn him in a trail of ground flesh and organs.
Finally, they reach the top. There, the Grim Reaper awaits.
"Today, I'll take one life and sustain another."
"Go ahead and attack it, Demon Lord."
He goes ahead and on his own almost defeats the reaper. But then he forgets to jump and the foe's scythe pierces through his body. He falls on the ground. Other hunters attack and easily defeat weakened enemy.
They turn their eyes on dying Demon Lord, then.
"Ok, I lied, I'm servant of the Dark Lord. But it's too late to stop him. With my death, the eternal night begins."
The eternal night begins.

Demonlord5000 is lynched. He was Shaft, follower of darkness and a master of black magic. Each night he could target another player with a blocking spell and stop all of their actions.
CAVE_DOG_IS_BACK bled out. He was a maiden from town of no special talents, who joined hunters on their quest.
AlaskanEmily manages to win the Holy Water and save herself from death.
Night ends in 23 hours.
