Huhu...YDS pretending to be a man on the forums. Now that you've posted your pic, loads of guys are hit on you, big mistake!

Elle a une sacrée paire de... lunettes.
Thanks! I picked out these glasses recently!

Ahem... you know he wasn't referring to your glasses, right;)?

Yeah Aedemphia is pretty awesome. Believe it or not, the author of Laxius Power (he comes from our community...) once told Sylvanor (the author of Aedemphia): ''Don't worry, one day your project might be as good as mine.'' Laxius. Power. I pretty much fell down my chair when I read that 0____o'.

I'm trying to convince Sylvanor to share his game with you guys here.

Aedemphia (last specs and that's over 2 years ago so it's much better now):

-18 hours (is probably a lot more now)
- 141 monsters (each and every one of them hand made, no rip. Monsters are also animated)
- 134 books (in a style similar to Elder Scroll)
- 1151 maps
- 260 side quests
- 703 items (including the equipment)
- More than a 100 spells.
- 30 cut scenes (hand drawn)
- 10 Optional bosses (not including the compulsory bosses)

Awesome initiative, Cahrull.
I would like to write an article about your resources. Would I be allowed to share what you've done in other places on the web besides your blog? I would obviously include your name and a link to your blog.

If not, would it be ok to use watermarks on your sprites and direct them to your blog to get the original content?

I liked your sprites for what it's worth :).

I tried to have a menus translated so that it would be more convenient for non-French speaking members but some members disagreed, saying you guys would need to adapt to the way the forum is.

I decided to make this guide for you guys so you can browse around the forum without too much trouble as I disagree with the statement above.

A Guide to Oniromancie
1. Click here to get to the forum
2. Look at the picture to register

3. Fill in the following information:

A: Username
B: e-mail address
C: password
4. Once you've done that, you'll receive the typical registration email. Click on the link to confirm registration.
5. Here are the most important sections:

A: Introduction topic
B: Completed Games
C: Advanced Games (if you have a demo already or if you have quite a bit done on your game)
D: New Games (for new games, if you just got started).

I hope it helps.

PS: Keep in mind that I carefully hand picked the best looking projects. Don't expect everything to be awesome or you'll be disappointed. There's is quite a lot of RTP games out there and other kinds of fan games.

RMN Snews - Issue #22

@idida1:
Your introduction post is there.

I'm writing a guide to help you guys around the forum.

Ciel finally bites and makes a topic

(just for the record, nobody was shocked about anything in any French communities that I know of. Ciel, could you let me know which community you're talking about, because I thought I knew them all. I'd be a shame to start an unnecessary conflict based on impressions/language barrier.)

A lot of us didn't know about RMN until YDS dropped by to share her game and she's the only one who mentioned something about Legendary Legend (not in a bad way or anything, she just said what this conversation was all about). When I first dropped by I wasn't that impressed with the game that was selected before this one (not repulsed by it but I didn't make me go "Wow! I need to check this website out!"). I guess what I'm trying to say is that the impact of the featured game might (might) not be as determinant as some of you might think (not saying you're wrong, just a possibility to think about). What I was really impressed with is the design of the website which is the best one I've seen in any communities worldwide.

If members selected the featured game, wouldn't you end up with the same problem? Wouldn't some members complain about the featured game as well? Is it possible to have a system which will satisfy everyone? If not, is the satisfaction of the majority the objective? Would the majority necessarily know which game most deserve to be featured? If a system fails to meet the expectations of the members every once in a while, is it reason enough to get rid of it?

Good luck with this,

Japanese RPG Game: suggestions

I was personally disappointed by the games on the famitsu website.

Beside First Seed Material, are you guys aware of any Japanese communities where people share their games?
I'm considering translating Les Yeux Sans Visage to Japenese (as practice) but I can only find blogs, not forums.

I'm close to halfway through translating Jeanne Action (for those who can read French):

My community (Oniromancie)

It does look awfully similar (especially the combats), thanks for letting me know.

I hope more of you guys come over to present your games. Although we have our share of xenophoes, I think most of our members would be really interested in seeing what you've done. Ocean Dream has already received some quality feedback for his game from Shin and Persephone (two of our members) and we're all looking forward YDS next game (among other things). We've also read the debate about the featured game ;).

I am, I started translating Off before (and have yet to finish it) :).

I had the same reaction about Hotel (and so did many, many other members).

My community (Oniromancie)

@kentona: Yeah, it's great to see you over there. Some of your games were quite popular I understand.

@Rad: I think you'd need to ask the authors personally. Sylvanor is surprisingly fast at drawing stuff, but I don't know about the other guys. I'll try to convince them to register over here.

@catmitt: Mortis and Exaheva are in a world of their own :). Mortis already finished a game called Off which is really out there (a baseball player set out to cleanse the world from evil).

I couldn't agree more. I think we (at Oniromancie) generally encourage pretty and handmade stuff with their own styles. You can look at a screen and know it's from Kenetec or Sylvanor or Lunn.

I know your game and I think you would *love* Off. It's really, really different.

Those are shots from the English translation which I started (and have yet to finish):

And some related art:

You'll need to read French though.

''Chemin de Croix'' was also popular at some point but it was cancelled (unfortunately):

We also get loads of not so original project but I thought you wouldn't really be interested in those as they're pretty common in every community.

Another really nice drawing from Sylvanor:

And another one:

Hotel is another gem which unfortunately got cancelled.

@physal: Not many. As far as I know, I'm the only one who translates games in my community. If I was paid for it, I'd love to translate Aedemphia but it's just way too huge to do on a volunteer basis (I think it's about 30+ hours of gameplay now).

I prepared a new batch of screenshots from different artists:
