Out with the Old

Whoa hey, glad to hear from you again! Good lord, I posted this over a year ago.

I posted an archive of most of them, going back a couple of years, before I lost interest. Hopefully that's enough!

Let's Discuss Fallout 4 - SPOILERS (obviously)

Woof, how late am I to this party! Despite all odds, I managed to plow through and finish the main campaign yesterday. PS4 version; only ran into a couple of serious bugs (reloading a pistol while inside an elevator made me fall through the world more than one time), but overall it was a way smoother experience that either FO3 or New Vegas.

I ended up siding with the Railroad and nuking the Institute, though I admit it wasn't an easy decision. They almost got to me! I even spent the rest of the game in a Courser uniform, mostly for style and partly to not have to fool with the terrible armor/equipment system any more. Everything from getting into the Institute up through the endgame was streets ahead of the rest of the game in my opinion, but the actual ending sequence was really tepid. Not much in the way of closure, and no boss fight to speak of. I did appreciate how it looked like they were pulling a FO3 with the reactor; I was convinced the door was going to slam shut behind me.

I think I may replay again with a high-Charisma character. Even with average charisma and Agatha's dress, I don't think I ever passed a speech check even once.

I Miss the Sunrise

Oh wow, somehow I missed all those posts. Must have happened during a torrent of notifications from an event.

I do believe Lagarto automatically gets shipped out after Episode 3. He has a special (but brief) interaction if he's forced to share a cell with Daszk, but I believe that's it.

The only character who gets a special cameo in Episode 5 is
Chac, if he was never recruited.

Alpha Gameplay Footage

Thanks! I'll definitely work on those; the artist also wants to polish them up at a later date, so they'll change for the better.

Yes it is! My musician's done a few tracks for me, and we're still figuring out how to best implement the "dynamic" tracks (where the primary instrument changes depending on the current character). Originally, I wanted most of the soundtrack to be dynamic, but now I might just use that idea for the battle music, and let him go wild with everything else, because he's definitely got chops.

Alpha Gameplay Footage

Thanks, y'all! I'm still figuring out the gameplay; originally there was a much greater emphasis on momentum and running starts (to parallel the battle system) that I simplified significantly, but didn't remove completely due to not wanting to make the physics feel too stiff. I also had the "locked" camera setting turned on; the default one is more of a lerp camera that pans ahead when you're running at full speed, but I thought that may be disorienting for quick cuts (I wanted to edit everything down to fit in the length of the song!) so I stuck with the basic one.

Animations should be a simple tweak; it's all cel-based with pivot points, so I can do some nudging around.

It's a pretty late alpha; I'm missing much of the graphical and audio content to make it a proper "beta," but it's structurally sound and the narrative and systems are all in place and awaiting delicious assets to be delivered.

The Winners of Misaos 2015

Congrats y'all!

Release Something: Gotta Go Fast!!!

Shoot, I didn't realize the event was ending so soon. Oh well; I'm stuck in a hotel room on a laptop, so no more submissions/video from me, I guess! Thanks again to everyone who commented on my lone entry!

And since I have a few minutes, here are a few more offerings, chosen at random according to filenames that stuck out at me when I scrolled through:

@InfectionFiles
That second one is great and creepy! Is it a still, or an interactive map? I almost hope it doesn't lose some of the dreamlike quality when it's in motion!

@Luiishu535
That certainly is a clown! Looks like there are some stray black pixels on the bottom right shoe (I know it's a concept piece, but that stuck out at me). I'm no artist, but I wonder how a "chalk outline" of a clown might come across for the same idea. Too dark, maybe?

@Kylaila
While the "critter" sketches are more my speed (what can I say, I like critters too), the Phantasm ones work for the opposite reason: a game/RPG where the enemies only vaguely resemble something recognizable could work pretty effectively! It could also lead to a gruesome, cosmic horror-themed Pokemon sort of game just as easily. Keep it up!

@unity
Oh Christ.

Eyeballs. Eyeballs skeeve me out the most for some reason. I'm sure I'm not alone on that, so if it's a running theme on your monsters, it's working.
