NPC automatic walking issue

Solved: some unclear switch problem!

NPC automatic walking issue

I have a strange issue on NPCs routing system.
I set the routing as custom, set the steps, and:
- if I start the game as a new game, then the NPCs move;
- if I continue the game, the NPCs stand on their position.

Do you know what reason could be?

[help] Game Publishing Dynamics

Thank you both!
The main doubt on rpgmaker.net publishing is now answered.

I have some EULA questions, which I sent to RPG Maker staff and posted in this thread:

http://rpgmaker.net/forums/topics/14053/

If any of you can give me some feedback, I greatly appreciate it!

EULA Clarifications

This mail was sent to RPG Maker staff to obtain official feedback.
If some representative of RPG Maker can read through here, of if someone can give me any kind of feedback, I'll gladly take it into considerations!

Thanks in advance.

Hello, RPG Maker staff,
I need some clarifications on your EULA. I will list the unclear points and, after, my related questions.

-----
FROM RPG MAKER VX ACE EULA

B. License ENTERBRAIN grants to Licensee a non-exclusive, non-assignable license to use the Software on only one (1) computer by installing the Software, and Licensee cannot use the Software concurrently by and on multiple computers. C. Restriction Licensee shall not reverse engineer, de-compile, or disassemble the Software. Further, Licensee shall not sell, assign, lease, sublicense, encumber, or otherwise transfer the Software without the written consent of ENTERBRAIN.

What does "by installing the software" mean? Could I uninstall the software and re-install it on another computer (without using it concurrently)? If yes, can I hold two copies of the product installed on these two computers of mine, without, again, using the product concurrently?
If no, how can I be granted of the service continuation if I have to uninstall the software for routine computer management?

E. Distribution rights Licensee may, at its sole discretion and its own risk, distribute the game (“Game”) originally created by Licensee by utilizing the Software with the following conditions; (i) Only Licensee who properly completed the user registration may distribute its own Game;

What does user registration stands for?
My idea about that: registration could stand for:
a. The registration of the product (with product key and email, when opening the software the first time)
b. The registration on www.rpgmakerweb.com, while buying the program.
Is the right meaning one of these two, or is a third one?

D. User registration Licensee shall promptly sign up and register required information as a user of the Software. Licensor will provide support, via on-line basis and only the scope designated by Licensor, to the Licensee who completed the registration process in accordance with Licensor’s direction. Such support shall be provided on “as-is” basis without any warranty in any manner.

What is meant with "promptly sign up and register required information as a user of the Software"?

FROM RPG MAKER VX ACE RUNTIME PACKAGE EULA

1. ENTERBRAIN grants to Licensee a non-exclusive, non-assignable, fee-free license to use the RTP SOFTWARE only for the purpose to play the game created and distributed by RPG MAKER VX Ace users who shall complete the registration procedure.

I have a doubt: if I decide to share my game including RTP, this means that another user will be granted of (a different kind of) RTP usage. He could be a user who did not complete the registration, and he could not have RPG Maker VX Ace. This someway infringe the license? (should the license be revised?)

Lastly, I have two general questions on game distribution.

1. (about free and commercial games) Can I share the output of the "Compress Game Data..." function on RPG Maker VX Ace software by any means?

2. (about commercial games) How can I sell my game? Could I sell the the output of the "Compress Game Data..." function on RPG Maker VX Ace software by any means?

Thank you in advance for your assistance,
Daniele

[help] Game Publishing Dynamics

Hello, RPG Maker users and staff,
I'm about to close my first game demo, version 1.0, and I'd like to share it with my friends and RPG Maker public.
While I still don't know if the game will be free or commercial, I'm sure about the fact that the demo will be free.
Here are my questions!

How am I allowed to share contents?
Can I just use the "Compress Game Data..." function and share the output with my friends through (for instance) email, USB or other means?
Can I upload contents through sharing sites (or on a server) and allow people to download them?

How can I proceed to submit my project here on rpgmaker.net? Could I publish a free demo of a (possible) commercial game?

Can someone link me to RPG Maker publishing official policies?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Edit

in particular, with "registration" they mean the registration of the product (or the activation through product key and email), right?

Here's the part of the EULA:

Event groups

I had a battle in the event, therefore in this specific case there was no difference.
In general, though, I'm going to follow your advice.
Thanks, Kory!

Event groups

Find another interesting solution:

1. Define an autorun event, with (not-self) switch condition. Deactivate after completion (using another event page).
2. Define copies of an event which simply activate the (not-self) switch mentioned. Then, they deactivate themselves.

Material used:
- 1 main event + x events on the x tiles you need to cover
- 1 switch

Seems to me a simple and good solution. Seems also that if you need event interaction, you need at least 1 (not-self) switch.

Opinions?

Can you explain what you mean by a dynamic date? I'm not sure I understand.

Sure. I just mean having a date which has more scenarios (list of events), choices for the players (branches of events), interaction possibilities (not only a +/- response, for instance).

Dates are one of the major goals of the game, and deepening this aspect (without making the game too complex) would improve gameplay experience (and even storyline management, maybe).

@Flowerthief: if you have any other question, or if you'd like to have my active contribution for this side of the project, feel free to contact me whenever you like via PM!

Thank you Archeia, Kori, your opinions will help me orienting towards pack that will be useful for my future project(s).

I have another question related to licenses on commercial packs: do you know the exact difference between rm and non-rm license?

Thanks in advance, and for the help received!

Now it's popular demand! Flowerthief, make it happen!

That would be so nice!

Conductor, thank you for your review. I don't agree with everything, but then again I'm an elitist bastard. Now that I mention it, improve your vocabulary a little bit.

You're welcome, it was a pleasure to review a game which inspired me that much.

You should not agree with everything I write! Neither do I!

I'll do my best to improve my vocabulary: I'm Italian, and write in English only every now and then. Reviewing your game was another good occasion to follow your advice!

Oh, and, are you the "CEO" of the game project?
