It turned out to be so cool that there's no chance I'm gonna let Goku learn it before training with King Kai. Maybe I'll put it in the demo as a cheat tho. ;)

I actually just noticed it about the sound as well, re-watching the video. It doesn't sound as bad in-game for some reason, but I definitely want to do some sound-work, mainly getting all new sounds that are all on the same "style" (I like the GBA sound quality for this). Right now some of the sounds are GBA or SNES-ish, and some of them are more modern sounding, and that inconsistency is a little weird to the ear. So yeah. Will work on that. :)

About the facing, I agree that it's a little awkward to turn around a lot during a 1v1 fight. I need to find a solution for this, also considering the fact that in most fights you face several enemies from all around you. Maybe I'll add a strafing system just for 1v1 boss fights.

Although it is a bit too empty, it does give the feeling of a wasteland area pretty well. Maybe try to add some rocks/different ground type to the Chipset, to fill out the empty parts in the map? Also, some fog/sandstorm-ish SFX in-game would add a lot to the atmosphere.

Got my first miniboss done! First boss (frikkin' Raditz) is also pretty much done, just need to finish the events around his battle. Then it's title screen and playable demo!



Open for feedback on mapping, battle-flow, sounds, and anything else really.

P.S. I think YouTube is still processing it, and it should be much higher quality in... some time.

I think more than that would be a little unrealistic for me, I haven't yet completed a game before and I'm working alone so yeah, time limitations mostly.

Who knows, maybe if it works out I can add more chapters.

I like it. Personally I tend to forget about coming up with good dialogue sometimes, with the rain of features that I try to shower my game with. This is a good reminder.

Also, that RTP makes me full of nostalgia goodness. Nice use of it.

I'm not really good at making new sprites. Tried for a good few hours last night and got nothing worth showing. Then I decided to just try and edit the LoG ones a bit, make them a little less chubby, this is what I came up with:

13 MB gif, am I doin it rite?


Finished my custom events system! Now I can do eventy things in my Sphere games almost as easily as it was with RM2K. This means I can get some actual story/gameplay progress.

Next up is some improved enemy AI (for boss fights mainly) and a menu system.
