I need help with a certain VX tutorial
Okay, I followed this tutorial step by step three times:
http://rpgmaker.net/tutorials/403/
But it didn't work. Whenever I defeated an enemy that I set up to increase a variable by one it did not. I've been trying for hours to get this to work, but I just gave up and decided to ask for help...again.
Can someone follow this tutorial and get it to work? Because I can't. I know your probably thinking I forgot to do something that it says needs to be done but that's not the case, I followed this tut step by step and set it up exactly how it described it should be (I can post screen shots to prove this).
And yes, I read the two tuts that came before it and got them working without any problems.

Games that use RTP graphics?
author=geodude
if you go into a review with this kind of mindsight you have no business reviewing games, rpg maker or otherwise
My thoughts exactly. It's like a commercial reviewer saying Final Fantasy VI on SNES isn't any good because the visuals are outdated.

When you see a game that looks like it relies heavily on RTP graphics, would you give that game a low rating despite it's overall quality? What I mean is, would you judge the entire game based on the fact that it uses RTP graphics and completely ignore everything else, such as how those graphics are used, story, plot, characters, ect.?
The Relic System
The first link you sent works great. Everything else I mentioned can be applied using the switches on the page where you make the items.
Thanks for the links!

The Relic System
Like I've said in other posts, I'm making a game with only one playable character, and I need a little help with some scripts. I want to make have a system in my game I call "The Relic System".
You see, the character in the game starts with some weak skills and does not learn anymore skills via leveling. Instead, he learns new skills by equipping items, called Relics. They take up the "Accessory" slot. Now, the character can only use certain skills if the corresponding relic is equipped, and can't use them when the relic is not equipped. For example:
The player has two relics in their inventory, one call "Fire Relic" and the other "Ice Relic". The player equips the Fire Relic, and can use fire attacks in battle. The player removes the Fire Relic and equips the Ice Relic. They can no longer use fire attacks in battle, but can now use ice attacks.
I also want each relic to be a double-edged sword. For example: If the Ice Relic is equipped, fire attacks will do double damage but ice attacks will heal the player.
But there's also some one-sided relics, such as one that raises attack but does nothing else. (This can be done without scripts however, so I don't need help with these)
So basically I want to make equipment that changes the player's skill set depending on whether or not it is equipped. So if anyone has a script like that, knows where to find a script like that, or can teach me to make a script like that, that'd be great.
I use RPG Maker VX.

Custom Menu Style in RPG Maker VX
Wow, did you make that? Thank you so much, but I don't have anything to repay you with...except my thanks.
But I forgot to add "Skills" to the diagram, so you didn't add skills to the menu. My fault, but is there a way to add Skills to your menu via scripts?
It's not a big deal though, since I'm gonna be using this on a game where the player has no out of battle skills, I just wanted to know if it was possible.
Also, if you select "Load" in the menu, and then press "X" to cancel it, it will take you back to the title screen rather then the menu. Is this a glitch?

Thanks Liberty, I haven't found one that only shows one character on either of those yet, but they probably have one. I found a really neat one that shows three characters in the party though.

1. How to change the menu's overall design, as in how to make it so it's not "Final Fantasy Blue".
I figured that one out in my own, but info on the rest would be appreciated.
Custom Menu Style in RPG Maker VX
Alright, I'm planning to make a game which has only one protagonist, only one playable character through the whole game. But the game menu is designed to show four characters at a time, so does anyone know how to script a menu stylized for only one character?
Here's two examples. Please forgive the crudeness of these images.
The menu currently looks like this:
I want it to look something like this:
Does anyone know how to script something like this?
Also, the following information would be appreciated:
1. How to change the menu's overall design, as in how to make it so it's not "Final Fantasy Blue".
2. How to change the font. (I have a lot of fonts but don't know how to use them in RPG Maker VX.)
Sorry if I'm asking too many questions, I'm just asking about things that did not have tutorials or very complicated tutorials made for people who greatly understand scripting.
