FLYINGJESTER'S PROFILE

I am the Jester.

I make games using JavaScript, C, C++, Mercury, Java, Assembly (amd64 and UltraSparc) and Python. I used to use Sphere a lot, but I'm more into C/C++ and Mercury nowadays. I still use JavaScript and embed it sometimes, and I usually use Python for build systems and system management.

I wrote TurboSphere, which is a recreation of the Sphere Game Engine with a number of major improvements. I'm not really working on it anymore.

I'm surely going to finish making a game someday. I mean, sooner or later, it's bound to happen. Right?

Yeah, if you want a beard of ants.

Maybe I do want a beard of ants you don't know me

Just for once i'd like to make music for a game that doesn't get fucking canceled.

If you want something done at all, sometimes you gotta do it yourself.

Have you tried butter? I heard that works well.

I feel ya.

The worst I ever had it was vomiting six times in four hours because of one bad taco. I then spent about four hours lying in bed shivering waiting until things settled down enough to drink just a little water.

Unfortunately, my roommate ALSO got food poisoning later that same night, so at one point we had to share the one toilet to vomit into at the same time. That's true friendship, I suppose.

Don't you hate when you spend time working on something, then soon after realize you actually don't like it?

This is just how life works. With art, cars, jobs, family, everything.

There is a reason we encourage all game engines on the site. The first games hosted weren't RM games at all. Really, people just make an assumption based on the name of the site. It's more like we host RPGs over most other kinds of games, which I guess are easier to make in an engine dedicated to that genre than in other engines.

This is very important to some people, too. It's important to remember there are those who use obscure or unpopular engines, and don't really have a home outside RMN. It's great to have a place like this that is welcoming, provides constructive criticism, and is receptive to creativity and productivity. Even if it isn't focused on the engines I use.

I think even more interesting would be a Gameboy-style game: low resolution, only four shades of gray (or green or I suppose whatever color you choose). I've done some demos with those limitations, and it tends to be really fun to do art that way.

Anyone around here play Twilight Struggle?
