I'm Mike. I'm go to a music school. I tell myself over and over again that I'm going there to learn new musical skills and build a network of people which I can slowly build a steady music career off of even though I know deep down what I really want to do is go there, start a band, get famous, piss people off for the fun of it and break stuff.

Aside from that, I can totally believe it's not butter. Stupid margarine jerks think they can fool me? YEAH RIGHT!

If I may put in some thoughts,

1) These guys do make a valid point, Allen.

2) You really aren't THAT bad at doing events and stuff, Allen, your old demo actually looked pretty good. All you really needed was a guy to do up a better storyline for you.

3) Shit, if you really want, Allen, get me to do some of that other stuff, I used to be pretty good at RPGMaker. I could just never finish a project on my own.

I usually think of it in letters... like, what Monk posted above I'd sorta kinda think of as "AABA"

Maybe put in some chord substitutions too for variation. I dunno, just throwing them things out there

There's another thing I'd like to add... listen to a lot of different types of music. You gotta get your ideas from somewhere, right? May as well be diverse about it.

For example, I'm working on an OST( don't ask me how that happened, but it did and I'm going ahead with it. fuck what anyone says, I'mma do it and I'mma giver all I gots), and I was going to write an overworld theme. But... didn't have any ideas. I was pissed. So I went, took a break, listened to some music, and I was listening to this ska band called the Planet Smashers, then went " hey... a ska guitar pattern( READ: simple major chord voicings played on off-beats) might be cool." So I went and came up with something like that( but with some cool drop 2 chord voicings instead. fuck I love drop 2 voicings)... then I came up with a melody to put overtop of it( for which I used a cheesy strings patch), then a percussion pattern... etc...

and the guy in charge of the project really liked it.

So you never know WHERE you're gonna get an idea from. So, may as well listen to lots of different music, then you start to get different ideas.

Although, admittedly, all this is probably a given, but fuck it I'm drunk
