actually i remember this screen, although i think it used to be grassy and not sand.
i always liked it though, well done.
my only complaints are:
the grey bricks in the upper right hand corner, seeing as everything is like tanned brick, what are they used for? maybe for the well? :x
and the tiled ground/road seems like too much maybe
i dunno if it would look better or not if you had some defined roads or something, instead of whole areas
i think it makes the palm tree/well/clothes line stand out too much, doesn't blend well imo
and some of the sand areas look too square on the right side

just some food for thought :]

Unless you're only trying to use RTP, I really think you should switch up some of the NPC sprites.
Y'know, add a little variety, it looks funny having so many of the same person(s) in the same room.

this is a really beautiful title screen, besides what dezz mentioned.
i wouldn't change it besides the messy text

I love the way your battles look, very cool!
keep up the good work, looks original for being RTP

Because people seriously frown on fan games and scare the creators into quitting.
that's my guess anyways
