I like how you say others can't take criticism well, when you yourself can not even fathom the idea of accepting constructive criticism.
I really have to agree with everyone else that the graphics are too inconsistent, and the hearts are ugly as sin.
All of Link's points were totally valid in trying to help you improve the game overall.

Uhh, it seems to me he didn't, that he actually gave the game a chance, and then tried to give you some helpful criticism.

Also, if I were you, I wouldn't tell anyone else that they have a lot to learn, or their game needs serious work.

I'm not crazy about the background picture, which I'm guessing is from the game?
I think it would look real pro if it were just all black or perhaps black with the red lines design.
It would make the characters graphic(placeholder or not) stand out better too imo.

I love not needing some uber ass gaming system/computer to play older games, or RM games.

It's funny that you compare a lot to Final Fantasy 9, because I found the mist storyline similar to the FF9 world.
I love FF9 though, probably my favorite, so the systems sound neat.
Overall, seems like a well thought out project, although I'm not fond of the mapping, sorry. :\

A true adventurer would just scale the side of the bridge that remains and kill the goblin.
