JAMESSERX10'S PROFILE

Greetings! I'm Jamesserx10, a game designer using RPG Maker VX. I've been using the RPG Maker programs since RPG Maker 2003, but have never posted any of the games online, until now with the project I'm currently working on. I'm just a typical designer looking to become better, my goal however, is to take elements of Western RPGs and JRPGs to make a match made in heaven of the two. Hopefully I can achieve that one day.

So, I got "Pokemon: SoulSilver"

i didn't even know there was a cloning glitch in gold and silver!
i remember missingno in the first ones though. it was like a drug, it freaked me the fuck out, but i was addicted to cloning those rare candies
Yep. Simply save before transferring the pokemon you want to copy before using the pc box. When you deposite your pokemon and save it, when the message says "Saving. Don't turn the power off"... Turn it off. Your pokemon would be in your party and stored on the pc the next time you load your game.

I could trade legendaries with no remorse that way, and I could also copy a ton of master balls (it copies the item the pokemon holds, too)

Haha I was not aware of that glitch. I might just have to go do that. But ya I loved Heartgold, my favorite in the series though is still the Blue/Red/Yellow generation. I really hope they remake Ruby/Sapphire next, or maybe, they should make a game, where you start in Kanto, and do every region from Kanto to Sinnoh, now that would be awesome imo.

The Final Fantasy XIII topic

I found FFXIII pretty good, despite all the flaming I hear about it. But, I didn't start playing FF until 7, and I've delved back as far as FF3, so maybe I just don't have the expectations for the game others have. But all in all, I still would give it a 9/10, my biggest problem was Chapter 11, they should warn you before you get into a fight with a behemoth that has fricken thundaga and laid out my group in under a minute. Plus, the story had its annoyances, especially Vanille, man she was annoying as all hell. What is she anyway? British? Australian? From America? Her accent changes more than her bipolar attitude. But I digress.

It was still a good game.

What are you working on now?

Working on my first project for this site. Allows players to choose class/gender and also make morality choices. For example, I just made one where you can either kill a woman possessed by a spirit to kill the spirit in turn, or attempt to exercise the spirit from the woman, even though the spirit could conceivably hop right back into her. In the end, killing the woman means the spirit dies, but you just killed the mother of one of the main characters, however exercising the spirit causes the player to have to fight that spirit later in the game in a optional boss fight.

Collaborative Projects

I'm currently working on my first project, and as I get people from RL that know about this stuff it helps me A LOT. For example, with regard to Pasty's comment about specialization, I SUCK at making over worlds, however I'm much better at making dungeons, and (I think) at keeping the game balanced. I just got a friend of mine to do the title art and some of the pictures I need done for showing during the game, which is great because I'm horrible at drawing.

So the take away, is that Collaborative projects are great, a second set of eyes always sees things differently than how only one person sees things.

A simple designer with a simple dream

Thanks for the welcome guys :) I plan on posting a lot, just been tied up working on my first game here...Looking at some of the games posted here, some of these are just in a while other league. I'm really impressed. I especially like the tutorials, I never knew what the heck a Variable was until I watched the tutorial video Merte made.
Thanks again, hope to see you guys on the forums : )

Your First Game

My first game (and a game I'd like to go back and remake eventually) was with RPG Maker 2003 back when I was in the 7th grade. It was called Legend of the Keepers. About five people, who were ancestors of the original keepers of the Elements, sent on a journey in order to stop the resurrection of a evil god known as Moei. I remember the original series was 3 games, each about 4 hours long. I had a good time with it, but in retrospect the games were too short to say what I wanted to say, and also WAY to easy, like, the bosses could be killed with normal attacks in only a few turns. Still, I think it was the best game, story wise, I made, even if it was incredibly primitive in design.

A simple designer with a simple dream

Hello folks!
I'm Jamesserx10, one of the forums (as of this post) newest members! I've been working with the RPG Maker series for a fair amount of time now, since the RPG Maker 2003 days, however I never posted any games online until now. I'm currently working on the first game I feel will be good enough to go online. My favorite games include, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic I, Final Fantasy VII, and Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. My hopes in my games is to take qualities from Western RPGs and JRPGs and meld them into a hybrid that features both the elegance of JRPGs such as the Final Fantasy series, and the character development styles of Western RPGs such as Bioware's games.

So yah! Hey everybody, I hope I get to talk to more of you eventually.
