JASONFARKAS'S PROFILE

Just arrived on the indie rpg scene about a week ago after being referred here to download the Chrono Alter game. Hated the game but love the site, which introduced me to a game called The Way and inspired me to create an RPG of my own based on a fanfic I was writing. Shameless plugs follow

That is the start of a trilogy I have planned, though both it and the second story are half-way finished (I am apparently worse than George Lucas when it comes to releasing things in chronological order lol)

Anyway, I hope to work with community members to make everyone's game better through group effort.

What are you working on now?

Working on a battle system that takes place on the main map without random battles (think Chrono Trigger but with a few tweaks to make it cooler). It will be possible(i have the basics already done, now to link them together), I'll just have to script like a monkey on fire to get it working correctly.

SRADIO #1: Release Something! X and Rants

I'd point at myself but that would be slightly redundant lol. Instead I shall speak with those who I've had these conversations with and point them in this direction.

SRADIO #1: Release Something! X and Rants

Just to reply to one of the questions asked during the broadcast, yes I do think there is a market for playing top-down SNES style rpgs. I mean, I've actually played more games from this site than I've invested hours into FF XIII or any of the more recent RPGs for console systems. I know I'm not alone on this because I've had this discussion with a few of my friends and we more or less agree with the sentiment that it doesn't take next-gen graphics to make a good game. I think you'll find alot of people are willing to overlook the lack of 3d graphics or highly detailed sprites in favor of a good story and an engaging game. Btw, liked the broadcast!

This is why i don't share information form the real world, you guys say age is irrelevent and then say this isnt right, i knew i coulden't tell you guys the truth but you said my age was irrelevent, forget this people are just trying to find another reason after another to have a go at me, i'll still be downloading some friends games but yeash this realy isn't fair.

I have no problem with your age, I just know that on the internet people tend to lie to either gain sympathy or well many many various other reasons. There are alot of things weirder in the world than an 8 year old making games so I can't really say it can't happen. With that said I didn't meant to come across as insulting your age, just was curious is all.

As for the whole learning when you're young thing I'd just read in a few studies, and had it crammed constantly down my throat as a child, that people learn better when they are younger. Maybe it's wrong, but based on how tech-savy most kids are these days I bet it isn't.

Also i have an account on Fanfiction.net and i have wrote a crap load of FanFictions in the past with some of my friends from America to fix it up into an American spelling kind of story, like an American version to make it easyer for anyone else.

Now I'm not necessarily saying this because I don't believe you. But you're 8, you work and go to school, and you've written alot of Fanfics in the "past". So what, you were writing fanfics when you were 5/6/7? Again, not that I necessarily disbelieve that it could happen, just skeptical.

Anyway, slightly more back at the point of it all. If you are 8 then it's probably the best time to start learning stuff like this, then when you are a venerable old age of -insert you version of old here- you won't look back and say, "man I wish I could of learned to better games when I was younger and had more time."

It is the SPRINGTIME OF YOUTH!

So how about that health care reform?

I think it's a good thing, although I also haven't read through the entire bill.

Modern Chipset

As I was recently looking for just the same thing I can give ya some help with it.

The 2nd link I got from McGee(lol if that isn't apparent already from the url address) so give him the props for already having a huge list of modern tiles.

Isn't this the INTROductions forum....

But seriously you learn more from failures than from success. The only way your game is going to get better is by working on it, not by complaining about it.

Good Evening! Chrono Crystallis begins

Welcome! I too am making a Chrono fan game(based roughly on The Observers fiction I had written for it). Mayhaps a sharing of resources might get both of our games done all the faster!

What do people care about?

I don't agree with the overly long pessimistic statement either, however my exposure to the site is short comparatively so maybe I'm wrong. I try to play some games, those that others have given good reviews or just games that look interesting based on their description, but it would be pretty hard to try and play every game you come across and still have time to develop your own.

I mean, the fact that we even have a topic like this should say that at least some people care for more than boosting their own ego and deflating others'. Or something to that effect.
