JONNIE91'S PROFILE

I'm Jonathan Stewart, and I'm a music producer from the United Kingdom. I've been working with music for over 5 years. Since a young age I've been songwriting and writing my own compositions. I took GCSE Music and then followed it up with a National Diploma in Music Performance in which I worked with a number of different artists as a live musician. After leaving college I continued songwriting and also began studying Music Psychology, something that I continue to study to this very day in my spare time. I began focusing my career in music just over a year ago, in which I decided that I wanted to start developing music for games, I started off writing music for my own independent Video games, and after founding my own company SMC Games. I re-discovered the reason why I love writing music so much. However, i'm not just a musician I'm also a father of two, which basically takes up the other half of my life, and I love them all dearly! When I do have free time, which is not as often as i'd like these days xD, I enjoy sitting and playing a wide range of Video Games including Civilization V, Ratchet & Clank and Final Fantasy.

Secret Santa Surprise~ 2012

I'm up for it too...:P

[Poll] Which is more important: Story, Graphics, or Sound?

Everything has to work together in my opinion. On the lines of Tetris. That is what each part of development is without all the individual sections. Your game just won't work.
The straight line of time/money, can only work if the big block of Coding is placed in the correct place. Sometimes things ever so slightly mess up, and it just gets on top of you.In which case you must strip it down and start again.
Sometimes a certain "block" is just a god damn pain in the ass, and stops you from completing the "line". So you have to just restart on another "line". Destroy that one and then work on it!

Wow...Game development described as a Tetris game....I really have a vivid imagination

All Hallows' Event

Congratulations to all Winners. Unexpected first place :) I will agree with. but congratulations just the same :)

All Hallows' Event

I can see what you mean Shinan, but I think to prevent future confusion, perhaps there could be more specific rules regarding what is meant by "All files must be included in the download". The reason for not including the RTP download for Slenderman's Army, is because there is so little RTP used in the game, and at that point I didn't realize there was any way of removing all the RTP resources that are unnecessary, which would then mean that my file size tripled in size which seemed unnecessary for an RM site which most people penalize you for using RTP and making the file size triple the amount in needs to be.

However you do have a very good point, which perhaps could be considered slightly more during the next competition, which I will definitely be competing in, we had great fun with Slenderman's Army, working on all the Randomization that we used, so Even though it wasn't as popular here. It was a great learning curve for both of us :)
Looking forward to more competitions. Keep it up guys :)

So I finally got around to my first pass of the entries. I'll do proper plays probably on Friday. Five games followed the rules of the event:
House of Horrors
The Unwelcome Guest
Veil of Darkness
Where End Times The Saddest Song
Will you ever return?

Disappointing...

(though not the games they were pretty good)

So all the games that haven't included the RTP, will not get a vote from you? Even after Deckiller said this wasn't going to be downjudged, typical I did actually have a d/l for RTP included. *sigh* oh well :) Congratulation to Craze, shame we never got one vote, but there were lots of high qualitiy games. Maybe next time :P

I kind of want to join, but I don't even know what programs people use to create music. Do they have a band play their creation and record that? Do they record all instruments and put the tracks over each other? Do they just write .midis?

I guess I'll join. 2 months should be enough to write one decent piece.

There are many pieces of software that you can use to create music. Some people use MIDI instrumentation (like myself) and then use software to piece it all together, others using Loops and Soundfonts. there are many pieces of software that you can use. Some free some rather expensive and some in between. It all depends on how confident you are with music. Also the qualitiy of your computer will also affect what software you use :P

Thank you Racheal. :)

For VX however it seems that it doesn't work. That is what we tried with Slenderman's Lullaby. However it still asked for the RTP...and we used 2 aspects of the RTP. Both of which were imported...

Slenderman's Army

There are many different ways of escaping the Slenderman Army:
Spoilers Below:
1. They have a limited vision. To discover how far he can see you, walk slowly and zig zag him. He can't turn very fast. So dodge him, stay just around the corner from him, a lot of the time he will fade away.

2. Leave the room and enter again, Each time you enter the characters respawn in a number of different places. However, be careful with this trick. Cause this could mean they respawn on top of you.

3. DON'T RUN! No matter how much you panic keep your cool! If you panic then you'll be caught very easily.

4. Find the 3 battery flashlights as soon as you can. The sooner you find the Flashlight you can see more by pressing F5.
