KARSUMAN'S PROFILE

Visions & Voices
Who are you to stop the apotheosis of a madman?

Harbinger Fluff
---

Levinheim Guard: Often simply called 'the Guard', the Levinheim Guard is the state's primary defense force.
Levinheim is a small kingdom with a long history, but it has had few armed conflicts within its own borders
due to its rugged terrain and unfriendly climate; as a result, it has often sought outside help, as well as
civilian experts and volunteers not within the normal chain of command, to manage defenses and take part in
skirmishes. They also act as a highly mobile police force.

Effectively a paramilitary force, the Guard is made up of people of varying ethnicities, languages,
religions, nationalities and loyalties - indeed, while a majority of the Guard is Lennish currently
(Levinheim's native ethnicity), this was not so in the past when the majority was made up of Ignacians and
Overisians. As a result, the Guard is something of a smallscale cultural melting pot, adding foreign cuisine
to Levinheim restaurants and art to its museums alongside cases of severe racial and religious tension.
Nonetheless, most people accept the 'strange foreigners' if it means the streets are safer.

Royal Army: The Royal Army is Levinheim's elite military force; that is, elite in both meanings of the word.
In recent years it is better known for its highly puritanical bent; you cannot join the Royal Army unless you
can prove you are Lennish pureblood, and do to the greatly increased rate of interracial marriages, this has
been harder and harder to come by. Those within the organization are split: either continue the tradition and
take men and women of lesser stock, or open it up to everyone and lose support among the nobility.

Among the 'little people', the organization is viewed with some degree of mystique and criticism. The Guard
are everywhere, but the Army you rarely see outside of the capital. Even many of the citizenry that are
critical of the Guard admit that they prefer their presence over the Army's, if only because they at least
attempt to have a rapport with the people. Many of these same people are also critical of the Royal Army's
painful lack of true combat experience and its refusal to deal with rebel activity.

Barnistra Liberation Front: Originally one of a dozen or so rebel groups, originally named, simply, the
'Liberation Army'. Somewhere along the way a master strategist and former member of the Royal Army named Simon
joined Thalas, the original founder, and successfully absorbed several other rebel groups with similar goals.
It was then renamed the Barnistra Liberation Front, in honor of Barnistra, an obscure king of Levinheim that
was ousted and executed during a coup after spewing tons of liberal rhetoric that is generally considered
forward-thinking but was very unpopular with the upper crust of society at the time.

Barnistra states many goals, and is led by true idealists. They want to turn the monarchy into a repbulic with
open elections, allow non-Lennish full benefits for being a citizen, to abolish restrictions on religion and
the press, and to remove what they view as a corupt caste system - that is, the title of noble. The problem
starts coming in when people with differing agendas start joining up - those that would rather line their
pockets instead of helping people, or mercenaries seeking connections. Although they remain popular among the
lower class, the middle class is very divided on their support due to sporadic incidences of extreme violence.
After all, when you preach peace and understanding while hurting innocents you will be viewed as a hypocrite,
even if it was an 'isolated incident'. No one wants their child to be ruthlessly murdered by some maniacal
terrorist who got caught up in the moment.

Levinheim Medical Corps.: An organization largely made up of unattached women of varying profession, caste and
ethnicity. When it was first made, long ago when women were not allowed into the military hierarchy, it was
considered a pretty radical idea, but nowadays it remains very popular - perhaps due to its apolitical stance.
Being a member of the Medical Corps. is highly encouraged among the unmarried wome of the low and middle class
since there exists this delusion that the job is not dangerous while at the same time providing the family with
some prestige - when in fact, statistically, the rate of fatalities is similar to that of the Levinheim Guard,
by percentage.

Men are actually allowed admission, and some guys that think they are clever join up with the pretense of
bedding some naive girl, but they soon find out that the work is hard and the women are even harder.

Court Wizards: A highly mobile task force of rogue sorcerers, alchemists and other magical specialists organized
under a loose chain of command. Those admitted to the Court Wizards are given a title and servants, but cannot
own land as they are required to live within the castle. The standard for applicants are high, but acceptance
into the order promises a life of low stress work, and substantial comfort. Or so it is often thought.

The primary responsibility of the Court Wizards is (officially) to act as accountants for the king, but they are
often called upon to perform more subversive and sensitive activies, such as spying or assassination, and other
feats of skulduggery. Additionally, they serve as bodyguards, and it is rare to not see one in the presence of
the king or other important members of the royal family

Levinhiem Royal Family: Levinheim has been a relatively stable monarchy for over a millenia. The current ruling
family has been in power for three centuries and gained influence through political dealings rather than
violence. Additionally, while Levinheim is not a large kingdom, it is difficult to invade, allowing the country
to act with autonomy and without great worries of foreign influence. All of this has made life relatively simple
for the royal family. Only a particularly egregious act on the part of the current king's father during a
territorial dispute thirty or so years ago mars the record

The current state of the royal family is rather fragile, and as a result the country is as well. The king lost
his wife some time ago, and has not been the same since - he became a recluse, drinking his life away while
sleeping with numerous prostitutes, as if to forget his woes. In the mean time the two eldest sons of the king
squabble over petty things while the youngest has proven incapable of true leadership. Only the king's daughter
seems to have her head on straight, but Levinheim is traditionally led by men.

This all promises to change with the appearance of a beautiful foreign lady that has captured the king's heart,
but life can have a cruel sense of humor.

Merchant's Guild: Of all the guilds in Levinheim, the Merchant's Guild is the most powerful, due in large part
to its vast holdings and ties to the nobility. The leadership here believes that money is true power, and most
of the time they are probably right. They deal with all areas of business and trade in Levinheim - legitimate
and otherwise, and though they have tried the only thing they can still not touch are the income tax and the
king's own money purse.

As a result of their vast wealth and financial influence, the Merchant's Guild brings in a lot of 'outside
help'. Though the Guild calls these people 'mercenaries' and 'migrant workers', in reality quite a few of them
are slaves with no real future. Of course, not everyone within the Guild tolerates these practices - a
political civil war, hidden from the world, has been going on inside the organization for some time.

House of Roslothian: Foremost of all nobility in Levinheim, the Roslothian family includes a long line of
influential and skilled warrior-poets. They work hard to maintain their reputation with the people and the
royalty, but this is often at the expense of their relationship with rival noble factions - many of who would
love to see the Roslothians fall from grace.

Whether male or female, all genetic Roslothians are required to go through a punishing knight apprenticeship,
serving as the squire for an existing Roslothian knight. Doing so enhances the body, mind and spirit, or so the
Roslothian elders believe. They are also expected to take up residence at Levinheim's most esteemed academy for
a number of years, so as to balance out the sweat and blood involved with being a squire.

While the Roslothian breeding and work ethic generally produces positive results, the family is often
criticized for being too old-fashioned and conservative. Members are often seen as taciturn and aloof, and too
caught up in their pedigree. Nonetheless, they are considered to be one of Levinheim's greatest assets.

The Harbinger: The reaper, the collector of souls, the regulator, the arbiter, Death... All are names the
Harbinger is called by, but none of them are quite right. Though those he 'reaps' often come to him with many
questions, he can provide little comfort; those are the very same questions he asked before taking up the
scythe and becoming the Harbinger many, many years ago.

The Harbinger's primary purpose is to serve as the conduit between the realms of the living and dead; a great
responsibility, as disruption in one world can cause untold disaster in the other. Most of the time this
involves finding ways to pass the time, but as of late there has been a strange feeling in the air.
Something that even the Harbinger might not be able to stop.

Rosencrantz Therian
Age: 29
Ethnicity: Lennish
Organization: Levinheim Guard
Rank: Captain
Class: Alchemist
Compatible: Viola, Tamburlane, Malvolio, Laika
Incompatible: Arkola, Nigel, Thalas
Trust Rating: 23
Possession: Pocket Watch
Bio: Born into a family of alchemists, Rosencrantz lived comfortably as a child. But he often felt constrained
by the family trade, and when he was a teenager he made what he now views as outrageously reckless decisions,
including his choice to join a mercenary troop. That said, he does not regret this choice - having gained
both friends like Malviolio and a greater sense of purpose and place in the world, Rosencrantz feels like he
would be a weaker man without the experience.

But those days passed, Rosencrantz eventually returned to Levinheim and had an emotional reunion with his
older sister - his parents had died during an outbreak of plague. At first he apprenticed with his sister as
an alchemist, but he had learned much on his travels and was already a competent alchemist. He was invited
into the Levinheim Guard following an impressive display, capturing a thief in the presence of Tamburlane.
Repeated showings of such valor has earned him a great deal of respect within and outside of the Guard, and
gotten him the title of Captain. Many suspect that he will be appointed Executor one day.

Rosencrantz is in love with Viola, and while he's not what one would call a shy person, he's a bit too
reserved to admit it in front of her face. Additionally, his friends are not helpful at all. Malviolo
critiques him thus: "Give the man a choice between a raging barbarian with pecs of steel and a temperamental
spaz of a woman, and he'll pick the former every time!" And although they mean well, Viola's friends are
even less useful. A quip from Cordelia "Rosencrantz is too classy a guy. What Viola needs is a bad boy that'll
break all those barriers and have her screamin' for more - you know, like Malvolio."

Viola Rosatio
Age: 25
Ethnicity: Lennish
Organization: Medical Corps.
Rank: Sergeant
Class: Priestess
Compatible: Rosencrantz, Cordelia, Faraday, Bianca
Incompatible: Eleanor, Juno, Pheanor
Trust Rating: 18
Possession: Locket
Bio: Although not quite nobility, Viola's family is well off enough to be one. Raised as the only daughter of
two physicians during the Levinheim plague, she was pampered and well cared for, but had little freedom.
The sheltered, awkward girl had few friends in her youth, and was often teased. She did not do well in
classes and her grades were poor, and found it hard to concentrate on any one task, resulting in many
regretful arguments with her parents that culminated with her running away from home. She returned after
three days, in awful shape, to her parents horror. After that day her grades improved and she joined the
Academy, where she aced classes in medicine and healing. She befriended Faraday and Cordelia during these
years, and they became inseperable.

Though her parents were worried, she then joined the Medical Corps., where she felt she could be of most use.
She finds most of the other priestesses stuffy and insufferable and does not like many of them very much, but
as she states in her diary: "The work is stressful, and at times painful, but I cannot help getting a rush
from the excitement in the midst of all that chaos. It makes me feel dirty - I think I need a bath."

A workaholic, Viola has few true hobbies, and though she does go tavern hopping with Faraday and Cordelia
occasionally, she is also the one that most often ruins the plans with her extended afternoon naps and
general forgetfulness. Her friends tease her about Rosencrantz, but she is either very dense when it comes
to matters of the heart or she does not want to recognize the fact that a man might be interested her,
equating it to losing her livelihood and independence - as well as her job.

Ernest Bolano
Age: 21
Ethnicity: Overisian
Organization: Levinheim Guard
Rank: Private
Class: Gladiator
Compatible: Jeanne, Arkola, Cordelia
Incompatible: Laika, Juno, Guildenstern
Trust Rating: 16
Possession: Rabbit's Foot
Bio: One of many children who lost their parents to the plague. Ernest, unlike his sister Laika, has little
memory of his parents, and so did not take it as hard. Laika quickly grew resentful of Ernest, who was
needy and still a child, and they grew distant. Instead Ernest found his pillar of support with Cordelia,
who doted on all the younger children. He became very fond of her, and followed her everywhere, but when it
became time for her to move on from the orphanage he was pretty crushed, even if she still visited regularly.

Nowadays he spends most of his time screwing around with his equally flaky buddy Arkola, though he did
follow Cordelia's footsteps and become a Levinheim Guard. He's developed something of an abandonment complex
since he feels all the women in his life have rejected him. The only real connection he has with a woman is
a young prostitute named Jeanne, who he spends more time talking to than sleeping with.

Well known for his shoddy luck among his friends, they often joke about him being cursed, giving him mock
lucky charms. Naturally he does not appreciate this.

Cordelia Lanigan
Age: 26
Ethnicity: Ignacian
Organization: Levinheim Guard
Rank: Sergeant
Class: Assassin
Compatible: Viola, Faraday, Saladin, Ernest, Tamburlane
Incompatible: Jeanne, Magellan, Thalas, Pheanor
Trust Rating: 20
Possession: Engagement Ring
Bio: Born into a particularly poor family with a failing carpentry business, Cordelia had little luck in her
childhood. Following her entire family being felled by the plague due to poor living conditions and no money
for medicine, she was taken in by the overworked Levinheim orphanage, which is where she started to show a
penchant for theft, which she had quite a knack for. When she was spared trial and jail by a priest she
failed to mug, Cordelia made a big jump from troublemaker to role model, helping other young orphans like
Ernest get on their feet. She also became turned to religion for inspiration, and goes to church on a
regular basis.

Nonetheless, she continued stealing - not for herself, but for the orphanage and poor. Something of a
female Robin Hood. Of course, she was eventually caught again, this time by Tamburlane and Guildenstern,
two Levinheim Guard captains. Impressed by the chase she gave them, Tamburlane offers her a job in lieu of
jail, much to Guildenstern's dismay. Feeling that God was again giving her a second chance, she joins with
no regrets, becoming a true 'protector of the innocents'.

Cordelia has gotten along well within the Levinheim Guard, becoming close friends with Faraday and Viola,
who is in the closely related Medical Corps. Tamburlane, Faraday's father and the man that spared her,
became something of a surrogate father figure for her. She also meet Saladin, who proposed to her
after only three outings together. She accepted.

Jeanne Faukland
Age: 20
Ethnicity: Tartolian
Organization: Barnistra Liberation Front
Rank: Private
Class: Musketeer
Compatible: Ernest, Othello, Thalas, Simon
Incompatible: Cordelia, Nigel, Haley
Trust Rating: 17
Possession: Tartolian Vase
Bio: A clever girl from the Levinheim frontiers, beyond the reach of the king. Though they are taxed, they
rarely pay, and are a fiercely independent people. Having experienced numerous bloody conflicts with the
Royal Army, and having a score to settle following the death of her brother and uncle, it was no surprise
to anyone when she joined Thalas' rebellion. Her parents forbade her, but she ran away with Thalas anyway,
and has not returned since.

Smart, charming, pretty and witty, Jeanne is a natural spy and informant, and works in a tavern as a
waitress and prostitute. It is not that she has any particular hatred for the residents of Levinheim - in
fact, she has become quite fond of a few within the Levinheim Guard. But she is also a stoic realist, and
knows that things will not change without drastic action. She has long ago passed the point of no return,
and is totally aware that she sometimes hurts the same people she is trying to protect, and like Thalas
she deems the Barnistra's extreme actions as necessary to create a new and prosperous government.

Born into a family of Tartolian sculptors, Jeanne has a distinct love for clay pottery, though she
herself lacks the time and ability to pursue it herself. A great deal of masterful Tartolian pottery is
strewn about her apartment, as if to remind her of home.

Tamburlane Verde
Age: 45
Ethnicity: Lennish
Organization: Levinheim Guard
Class: Sorcerer
Compatible: Faraday, Cordelia, Rosencrantz, Olivia
Incompatible: Guildenstern, Haley, Alma
Trust Rating: 19
Possession: Frying Pan
Bio: The most senior ranking officer of the Levinheim Guard, Executor Tamburlane comes from a long line of
wealthy but liberally-minded nobles. Like all members of House Verde, he went to officer-training school,
but applied to the Levinheim Guard instead of the Royal Army following his graduation, shocking everyone
and confounding his teachers and family. In the end, it was truly Tamburlane that got the last laugh -
as the Executor of the Levinheim Guard he has far more influence and renown then he would have had in
the Royal Army.

As one of the most experienced soldiers in the Levinheim Guard, and a former infiltrator of criminal
organizations, Tamburlane has a great knowledge of the city and its people - even those that are the least
desireable of human society. As a result, he plays the odds well and is often victorious in the PR and
political arenas. This has made him very unpopular in the capital among the superiors of the Royal Army
and other nobility, but their hands are tied because Tamburlane remains extremely popular among his staff
and the citizenry.

Tamburlane also has a daughter - Faraday, his pride and joy, and has become something of a surrogate
father for Cordelia, a close friend of Faraday's. He is also famous for his skills as a chef, which were
enhanced by several years of infilitration work as a messhall cook in his youth.

Leveat Orschelle
Age: 19
Ethnicity: Falanese
Organization: Merchant's Guild
Class: Warlock
Compatible: Faraday, Magellan, Darius
Incompatible: Tamburlane, Nigel, Kasim
Trust Rating: 16
Possession: Abacus
Bio: Second-generation immigrant, the son of poor farmers moving to a place with little farmland.
Nonetheless, he excelled in school, and while being Falanese can be a somewhat prohibitive existence in
Levinheim, Leveat turned out to have a good eye for money and has made in well with the bankers he
started working for in his teen years. On top of that, his wages allow for him to support his whole
family and put his younger brothers and sisters through school, despite his youth.

Most of Leveat's business is in the transport sector - these are largely contracted deals with the
Levinheim Guard and Royal Army for the transport of military, medical and food supplies. Occasionally,
though, he gets some... 'Special Commissions' from rebel groups and other such organizations, and
while these jobs pay little, he is aware that he is an exception to the rule for Falanese and the
words of people like Thalas inspire him to act. That said, he does not condone violence either, and is
in truth very conflicted.

Since she was a kid Faraday has been helping Tamburlane with transport, so in a way he grew up with her,
and she has grown quite fond of him - he is very nervous around Tamburlane, however, and constantly
feels as though he is being watched when he is around.

Faraday Verde
Age: 18
Ethnicity: Lennish
Organization: Levinheim Guard
Class: Valkyrie
Compatible: Tamburlane, Viola, Cordelia, Leveat, Alma, Pheanor
Incompatible: Saladin, Kasim, Bianca
Trust Rating: 22
Possession: Stuffed Bear
Bio: An elegant young beauty, daughter of Tamburlane. Charming and forthright, Faraday has a good head
on her shoulders, much like her father, and has done well in school - but she lacks Tamburlane's core
experience and judge of character. Combined with her unbound friendliness and naivete, this is an
occasionally dangerous proposition - she ended up in the company of many strange and dangerous sorts
as a child. She and her friends laugh at this now, but her father did not find it funny at all at the
time, and he is still protective of her, even though she is now an adult.

Though she did not officially join the Guard until a year ago, for many years she helped her father
with the accounting of cash and supplies. As a result, she has become quite knowledgeable on the
subject, something which seems uncharacteristic of the seemingly unresponsible youth, and which
contrasts with her status as a socialite that goes to every party she possibly can, dragging her
friends along with her. Some of these 'parties' end up being something decidedly... Different than
what was expected.

She tries to maintain a relationship with her 'cousin', Alma, but Tamburlane disapproves, considering
the girl a bad influence on his daughter. She has even chatted up Pheanor at the tavern on more than
one occasion - and yet she doesn't like the mild-mannered Saladin, and considers him an ill-suited
match for Cordelia. Viola sums her up thusly: "Faraday's a great friend, but she lacks an ounce of
common sense."

Nigel Callehim
Age: 20
Ethncity: Lennish
Organization: Royal Army
Class: Sniper
Compatible: Haley, Iria, Juno
Incompatible: Tamburlane, Sasha, Thalas, Gregory
Trust Rating: 14
Possession: Rook
Bio: A snooty youth filled with potential and intelligence that he does not take advantage of. Of
noble lineage, and born into a particularly influential and decidedly 'oldschool' conservative
house, his life is pretty much set, and unlike his brother Gregory, he does not try too hard at
anything, prefering a comfortable life filled with parties and women. Sadly for him, his father
finds this unacceptable and forced him into the Royal Army. Unsurprisingly, he hates it.

He has long had a strong love/hate relationship with his brother Gregory, with who he argues
constantly. Though the 'smart one' of the two, he holds the grudges and biases his family has
long held against immigrants and other races - and yet his more emotional brother insists on
pursuing an Overisian woman. More loyal to his brother than his parents, Nigel keeps this secret,
but he still argues with him constantly. He also disapproves (often vocally) of the Levinheim
Guard's policies regarding recruitment, and has had numerous run-ins with them.

Nigel used to play chess with his grandfather, and showed an excellent affinity for the game -
but ever since his grandfather died he refuses to play, claiming that he hates it.

Arkola Valac
Age: 24
Ethnicity: Ignacian
Organization: Levinheim Guard
Class: Monk
Compatible: Ernest, Lucille, Juno, Gregory
Incompatible: Guildenstern, Jeanne
Trust Rating: 18
Possession: Photo of a Trio
Bio: Born into a family of extremely rich immigrants, Arkola had a good view of the rich and
poor while growing up, prompting in him a universal love for all kinds of people. As a child he
would often be the one forming friendships between Lennish elite and poor Tartolian street
rats. As a teen he befriended the younger Ernest, and would often take him to his home, much to
his parents' dismay. Still, the friendship has persisted into adulthood.

He then joined the Levinheim Guard, where his lackadaiscal approach to life is tolerated but
not really appreciated. That is, he tries just hard enough to not get fired. His boss,
Guildenstern, does not much like this but accepts it. He stays solely because of his attraction
to the woman of his dreams, Juno, but she barely acknowledges his existence. At the same time,
he is blind to the affections of the priestess Lucille, whom he cares about but does not truly
understand.

'xx' cont.

Lucille Rubens
Age: 27
Ethnicity: Overisian
Organization: Medical Corps.
Class: Priestess
Compatible: Arkola, Juno, Eleanor, Simon
Incompatible: Viola, Anastasia, Wednesday
Trust Rating: 16
Possession: Glasses
Bio: One would never guess that this reserved, glasses-wearing member of the Medical Corps. was
raised by a prostitute. Her mother tried her hardest to raise her well, and in relatively
normal conditions, so as to ensure Lucille would surpass her way of living. It was not until
the age of 16 when Lucille found out the truth, resulting in an explosion of emotion and
conflict, but eventually acceptance.

Though her grades were not the best, and she lacks the proactiveness usually expected among
those joining the Medical Corps., the Grand Matron took a shine to the girl and allowed her
into the fold. This has turned out to be a wise decision; Lucille is regarded as one of the
Medical Corps.' most talented experts.

Though shy, she has a few long-standing friends in Arkola, who she is deeply in love with, and
her best friend, Juno. That said, the two still have a hard time to get her to do anything
outside of her job and hanging out at local libraries and book stores, where she will sit for
hours and hours at a time reading - and occassionally writing bad romance fiction. She has
dreams of becoming a published author one day.

Alma Kreis
Age: 26
Ethnicity: Falanese
Organization: Levinheim Guard
Class: Monk
Compatible: Guildenstern, Othello, Faraday, Wednesday
Incompaatible: Thalas, Simon, Leveat, Olivia
Trust Rating: 17
Possession: Training Gloves
Bio: A second-generation immigrant and non-native resident of Levinheim - she retains an accent, and speaks
improperly at times. Following a few bad experiences following her arrival in the kingdom during her teens,
she became very interested in physical fitness and self-defense, training under and forming a close bond
with a local master named Othello. As a result, she soon found herself being hired by knights, politicians
and nobility for protection, which although dangerous, paid well and allowed Alma to support her family.

When two of her siblings died during a Barnistra attack, her world changed. She tried to find a reason or
meaning for their deaths, but could not, and so she approached the Executor Tamburlane. Though he found her
unsuitable for the job, driven by emotion and bloodlust rather than a need to help people, he felt the need
to compromise because of her skill: she would become an arms instructor for the Guard under the supervision
of Guardsman Captain Guildenstern, a strict disciplinarian.

In a way she has found peace in the job, taking our her stress on her students instead of potentially
innocent people. She has found a kindred spirit in Guildenstern, with whom she has become very loyal.
Additionally, she has found more relatable friendship among her students, some of which she has taken a
shine to. But Alma still holds within her a violent hatred of the Barnistra, which has resulted in more
than one confrontation with her superiors.

Guildenstern Reinich
Age: 37
Ethnicity: Ignacian
Organization: Levinheim Guard
Class: Gladiator
Compatible: Wednesday, Alma, Haley
Incompatible: Tamburlane, Randolph, Arkola, Grace
Trust Rating: 18
Possession: Rusty Sword
Bio: Born in a refugee camp, Guildenstern was raised with conflict all around him - and so perhaps he took
a liking to it. He left his parents while young and joined a mercenary company. Starting from the bottom,
he eventually made his way to the top, and life was good for awhile - he lived comfortably, and had a wife
and child.

As such stories often go though, Guildenstern was betrayed by one of his closest friends during a campaign
and lost everything, including his family. Guildenstern wandered then, never staying in one place for long,
as if trying to find some meaning in life - something he never did find. He eventually settled in Levinheim
and joined the Levinheim Guard, where he has become well-known as the strictest of the Captains, and has
gained a fair degree of respect among the nobility for his hardline policies. Though he and Tamburlane
share some degree of respect for eachothers' abilities, they see eye-to-eye on so few issues that it makes
discourse on matters unrelated to business nearly impossible.

With his gruff exterior, few people manage to get close to him, but Wednesday, who is the same age
Guildenstern's daughter would be today were she still alive, makes his heart of ice melt. He also has a
cordial relationship with his subordinate, Alma, who he finds common ground with on many issues -
especially regarding the Barnistra.

Laika Bolano
Age: 28
Ethnicity: Overisian
Organization: Court Wizards
Class: Alchemist
Compatible: Tybalt, Adriana, Petruchio, Rosencrantz
Incompatible: Ernest, Cordelia, Lucille, Alma
Trust Rating: 20
Possession: Mistletoe
Bio: Orphaned during the most confused years of her life, Laika was the oldest child at the orphanage with
which she stayed. Here she developed a conflict and rift with her young brother, Ernest, which still
continues to this day, even though they are now both adults. Though not proud of her decidedly selfish
attitude in her younger days, and now a highly successful young woman with a promising career, she still
cannot work up the courage to return to her brother and tell him 'sorry'.

In her teen years she developed a knack for medicine and a love for nature, both of which would serve her
well as the apprentice alchemist of Master Therian - Rosencrantz's father. When close to the completion of
her training she was noticed by Court Magistrate Petruchio and offered a job. She was worried what her
master would think if she were to do this, and of course he eventually found - he told her she was acting
like an idiot and sent her to the castle immediately, where she became medical administrator and prince
Tybalt's personal tutor.

Still a bit new to the glamour and grandness of the palace, she still has a tendency to wander off and get
lost - especially in the royal gardens, where she always goes to calm her nerves. Her closest ally in the
castle is Adriana, who treats her like a sister - outside of the castle it is Rosencrantz, with whom she
exchanges letters.

Sasha Serenzi
Age: 21
Ethnicity: Alden
Organization: Merchant's Guild
Class: Witch
Compatible: Simon, Grace, Othello, Wednesday
Incompatible: Tybalt, Juno, Nigel, Haley
Trust Rating: 21
Possession: Night Light
Bio: Born during the worst years of the plague, her entire family got it - including her. Despite a
mortality rate exceeding 95%, she survived, and somehow got better while watching everyone else she had
ever loved die around her. A sage named Simon, a friend of the Sarenzi family, felt pity on her and took
her in when no one else would - due to her frailty, she was forced to stay indoors. She spent much of her
childhood reading and listening (and eventually joining) in on long ideological arguments, where she
developed a strong anti-elitist philosophy.

When Sasha showed a talent for sorcery, Simon allowed her to start leaving the house so that she could go
to school. This opened up a world of possibilities for her - she could finally be with children her own
age. Though extremely akward at first, she has opened up bit by bit, and can occasionally be forced to a
party or two. After acing school, she was invited into the Merchant's Guild, where she serves as an
artificer and appraiser, and is especially talented at dealing with hexes and poisons. She also took up
physical training from master Othello, and though she is an asthmatic, she has done fairly well - even if
few men can appreciate it, since she is constantly draped in heavy clothes.

Sasha is a common patron at the local taverns, even though she does not drink - she says she enjoys the
atmosphere, and is often seen reading amidst the noise and brawls. Quiet, reserved and patient, along with
being exotically beautiful, she gets a lot of attention at these places too, and is intimately familiar
with the lives of the common people, having heard hundreds and hundreds of stories, and remembering them
all.

Bio: Born the daughter of a wealthy banker and investor with ties to the Merchant's Guild, Grace's fate
would be decided by his downfall and following execution. Nearing bankruptcy, and with a ruined family
name, it appeared that all was lost when she gained control during her teens - but the unexpected
happened. With the help of a few of fathers' advisors, she normalized her family's troubled finances
and slowly repaired its reputation. Her command of financial matters and general competence has earned
her a great deal of respect within the Guild - but also those that would seek to take advantage of her
youthful naievete. Her closest ally, Magellan, is always there to guide her.

Grace represents an anomaly among those within the Merchant's Guild. She doesn't hire based on class,
race or creed, but ability. She is proactive, and and tries to make sure her products are quality -
basically, she tries her hardest to avoid becoming someone like her father, who thrived off of corrupt
business practices. Naturally, this attitude is not always best for her profit margin, but she frankly
does not give a damn.

In her off time, Grace indulges in a variety of hobbies and sports, and has a fondness for jigsaw puzzles
and archery. A busy body, she finds it difficult to do one thing for longer than an hour at a time, and
has what is almost a schizoid attitude regarding planned events and parties, deciding to go and not to go
on and off again, a trait which her employees regard both as endearing and incredibly frustrating.
Perhaps this is why she is attracted to someone like Sasha - who takes her time with everything and has
all the qualities she herself lacks.
