Well, I'm an old guy, 71(crap,there goes another year:( who loves RPGs, especially Action, Adven., ever since my older brother got me hooked on The Legend of Zelda.
Would LOVE to create a game of my own. Even purchased the ACE program, but got frustrated when I could not even make a decent town river :(
But that's ok, I still love these independent games..

KEEP THEM COMING :)

dodge ability would have been cool.

"And, yet the main reason I panned this game so hard is because of this lack of a dodge ability. In my opinion you should be able to avoid attacks in an action RPG. In fact, I consider the ability to avoid attacks in a game like this a core mechanic and the absence of it instantly dropped this game down to instant fail."

"I guess, you can argue that my opinion on the music and graphics are overly harsh, but their aspects of most games that I couldn't care about."

@everyone who disagrees with me :) Read his reply to Liberty. He is wrong. The only way I was able to beat the game is because I was able to find and use the "dodge ability". And, his statement: "And, yet the main reason I panned this game so hard".
Yes, everyone does have a right to their opinion. If he had just given an opinion, I might not have objected so strongly. Think about when your looking for a game to try out. Would you think twice before spending your time playing a game with no stars? OR a game that has only 1/2 a star?
Maybe I should not even have "Reviewed the review". After playing the game and enjoying it so much, and knowing there are not many of this type of game on this site, I was upset not so much with the review but the 1/2 star which everyone sees on the main game page.

If I have offended anyone, I apologize. ALSO: if this conversation hurts anyone or RMN, thin I have no problem with a moderator deleting all my posts.

Thank you, over and out. :)

PS: @ NTC3, I ain't really sure what you are saying :) I know nothing about creating games. This is the pretty much the only site I know who that produces free games and I think you are talking about bias or those who disapprove of freeware. ???

See, and here I just chalked it up to being really tired or had been out with friends and closed the joint :) haha

gee, and here I thought we were done with this :)

REALLY ?? :) that's your argument??
Your original comment was to compare Akage and Zelda in a favorable light. The fact that you take offense at me using the same game to point out Akage's failings is both bizarre and childish.

My comparison is only that they are similar in the way they play. Meaning the character swings a sword and uses different things to get around and kill monsters. That is the only thing I was comparing. You used a game made by a professional group of developers with unlimited resources and a total amateur creating a game for fun. That's two totally different things.

author=Linkis
The original Legend of Zelda was not only made on the 8bit system, it was made by a team of professional game makers. This game was made on a much less powerful engine (I think). And made by an amateur.

Why does the power of the system matter? I'm not judging the game as poor because of its lack of strong visuals or forgettable music. I'm judging the game for it's poor melee combat. And you haven't offered any meaningful defense other then to look at solutions that cover up the problem rather then address it.

I suppose I could say you simply don't know how to play this kind of game :)
In a game like this you find the best way to kill monsters and not die. If you do die, and I died many times :) you come back at your last save point and try again. I had NO PROBLEM with the melee fighting, I actually enjoyed it. Sounds kind of like you are unhappy the developer did not cater to your way of playing. If you don't like a game because you don't like the way it plays, then find another game you do enjoy. Don't trash it because you don't enjoy this type of game or the way it plays.
Reviews should be constructive, not malicious because you can't figure out how to beat it. I've quit MANY games and deleted them. In fact, I deleted about 3-4 games just this afternoon because I did not like how the game was made. But I did not write a derogatory review or post a bad comment because I did not like the way it was made.
If you are simply trashing a game with no constructive comments on how to help the developer to improve his game, then why comment at all. It's just mean spirited.

author=Linkis
All I'm trying to get across to you is try to be a little more understanding of the effort that these developers put into a game before you trash it.

I'm aware of how time consuming a project like this can be to some extent. I did muddle around with RPG Maker 2000 and 2003 back in the day and never managed to finish one project. I'll give anyone with the patience to waddle through that creative process a pat on the back, but it doesn't change my opinion about this game when it comes to the melee combat.

Fine, then give him a pat on the back and let it go at that. Don't trash his whole game because you don't like one aspect of it.

I saw another game that was really excellent trashed and it brought down the overall Star Rating and it was because the reviewer simply did not like that kind of game.

I also tire of you implying that I trashed this game because I have deep personal issues with the style of the game. I'm curious how that defense holds up in the face of my reviews for titles like Ayumi and Guardians.

I never said you "had deep personal issues" with this game.
SIMPLY that you did not like this type of game.

In fact, you might try reading the other review of this game and my post after it. Maybe you will see what I'm talking about. That person is a developer who makes very good games.
Again, I am just trying to say, if you are not going to make constructive comments on the mechanics of a game, then just post in the Summary. Don't give it half a star and make nothing but derogatory comments, thereby possibly making others think twice before playing a game they MIGHT enjoy.

Akage Review

Nice review overall. Too bad your 4 stars were downgraded by the first reviewer:(

Actually, after I realized the monsters got stuck behind the dropped bag I liked that aspect since I could talk to the stuck monster and make fun of him :) Also, I got to play with my timing on picking up the bag and attacking the new monster :)

"Although I do wish there was music for the boss battles, so I would at least know when I am in a boss fight."
But Rose, you know when you're in a Boss fight....WHEN YOU DIE :)
The first one drove me crazy until I found a little strategy :)

I wish there were more games like this using ABS. Many games say "action" but they are not realtime battles :(

Fable of Heroes II: The Dark Ritual

hey Dusty, looks like you got frustrated and clicked the
the "submit" button a lot :) hahahahahaha

The Winter Knight

uh oh, realized halfway through I had already played this game :)

Still enjoyable, but those darn snowflakes still annoying :)

Akage

wow Scraptonyx, your way to late :)

Been in my download folder for a while.
Will get to it ASAP :)

And thank you for thinking of me :)

How can you possibly compare Akage with Zelda games.
You brought it up first.

author=Linkis
Even in Legend of Zelda, Link used weapons, bombs and a variety of items.

Maybe reviews should be used only for those who really know how to make games and will give constructive advice. The star rating is seen on the

Ya know what InfectionFiles, you're right. We all have a right to our opinion. I saw another game that was really excellent trashed and it brought down the overall Star Rating and it was because the reviewer simply did not like that kind of game. It's too bad RMN does not have a rating system so one person does not hurt the overall reviews and thereby the games chance for a little more good recognition.

Akage Review

@thesacredlobo, boy now you're really stretching it.

How can you possibly compare Akage with Zelda games.
This one is made by an amateur using a simple engine.
Zelda games are made with a MUCH more powerful engine AND created
by a TEAM of PROFESSIONALS. Your comparison is TOTALLY off. :)

Basically, you picked a game not knowing if you would like it, then since you
did not like it, you trashed it with 1 1/2 stars downgrading the chance this
developer had for any kind of recognition :(

Admit it sacred, you goofed trying to get makerscore. That was a joke :)

A New Computer Issue(s)...

Xenomic, you said you've had issues before this but also that this is a new computer.

Why hasn't anyone mentioned warranty ???
If it's new enough, call the manufacturer and have them check it online, realtime for you.

Otherwise, I ain't got no idea :)
