RPGMaker 2009 in Windows 8

Hey, trying to get RPGmaker 2009 to run in windows 8. So far I'm not having much luck.

I also tried to run the program on my Windows XP box, and am getting the same result (everything works until the program tries to open RPG2003.exe, at which point it tells me I have an access violation at C0000005 or FF, depending on whether I check the "break after injecting DLL" box.)

I have everything running as an administrator, with compatibility settings set for Windows XP Service Pack 3.

Thoughts? Has anyone managed to get it working? What did you do?

Thanks in advance.

Ideas for plugins in dynrpg

How about something that does the same thing as Keypatch using DynRPG? It seems that the new DynRPG won't let you use harmony.dll like we used to be able to - there's got to be a way to use Dynrpg to run external programs like SFX.exe and such.

Or possibly a screenshot script so you could take the immediate map background and use is as your battle backdrop or panorama.

+++ DynRPG - The RM2k3 Plugin SDK +++

Hey, just installed the new Dynrpg - I like the new ips plugin feature.

One issue I've notice though is that if I apply anything like ForceHarmony, the RPG_RT.exe won't load. I had the same problem with RMRecker re-inserting my glyphs and changing my icon, but I managed to work around that with ResHack. But yeah, I can't seem to get ForceHarmony of Disharmony to work with the new DynRPG.

Is there by any chance a DynRPG plugin that would do the same things as Keypatch (ie let me use external programs and write really basic scripts)?

[RPGmaker 2003] Help with Finder.exe, Power Patch Compact and Disharmony

I finally got it to work - ended up rebuilding an old tower that had XP on the hard disk and managed to make a finder file out of that. Seems to be working just fine alongside keypatch, dynrpg and the various other patches I have it running with. What's strange is I seem to need some of the files from earlier power patches to get it to work properly - but I can live with that.

Keep writing the awesome patches man! I'm a big fan of your work.

[DynRPG] Auto Switches

I have a few - what about the Move Picture command? Does that cause issues with parallel process events too?

[DynRPG] Auto Switches

For some odd reason this plug-in *REALLY* slows my game down - I get a lot of lag whenever I'm using a large amount of pictures.

Too bad - the ability to store variable info outside of the game would be extremely useful.

[DynRPG Plugin] DynModeSeven

One bug I should report is that the @using_background parameter doesn't seem to work. According to your readme, Kazesui, if I want to disable the background I need to have a comment that says "@using_background false" or "@using_background no" but nothing seems make it work - I either get the default background or just black if I don't have the @set_background parameter in my initial event.

[DynRPG Plugin] DynModeSeven

I love this plugin - I have a number of experiments I'm working on with it.

Some thoughts:

-Fixed directions and fixed graphics for events doesn't seem to work.

- The chipset transparency doesn't work. All you end up with is the background colour of the chipset. It would be useful to have sections of the floor not rendered (or rendered as transparent or whatever) so you could display a background or a picture behind it.

- Would there be a way to implement a changing picture offset in realtime feature? So you could move the hero or other picture added using the @add_sprite command up or down the screen in relation to the map? Then you could conceivably make things like cliffsides by displaying pictures below the events their tied to on the y-axis, or moving the hero up stairs and jumping and such.

- Would there be anyway to make the background behave more like the paralax backgrounds in the normal map display? Things like autoscroll or scrolling with the hero? Or using animations as backgrounds?

Love your stuff man. Keep it up!

[RPGmaker 2003] Help with Finder.exe, Power Patch Compact and Disharmony

Okay, here's my RPG_RT file...

http://share.cherrytree.at/showfile-12607/rpg_rt.exe

As for 2009, I tried turning off my firewall and antivirus protection but it didn't seem to do anything. I have everything set to run as an administrator too. I end up with either an exit code of C0000005 (access violation) or FF =/

Thanks for your help on this!

Yeah, I've tried the XP compatibility modes - no good. I can't seem to get RPGMaker 2009 to work either (crashes on start up)

What's the best way to send you the rpg_rt?

Thanks man.
