Does anyone still play DotA?
LoL used to be the best DotA clone, but it has become unplayable thanks to Riot's poor business model. (Release overpowered new champion > people purchase in mass > nerf new champion > repeat)

Will the GUI builder be possible to use at all with the default battle system? I've got quite a lot of work done in it already and would certainly enjoy being able to call the draw number commands and show picture events...

I guess what anybody should take away from this thread then is: Opinions are happening!!
The more appropriate question that this thread should have posed is "Does YOUR RPG need story?" Evaluating a game's needs are one of the earliest points of development and would have been a fine discussion that pointed out the strengths and weaknesses of gameplay vs. storytelling bias.
Also gameplay is a very broad and vague definition that changes from person to person, so really it's again a subjective quality!

RPG 20XX Engine
You double click the executable in the folder and it will play your project. Adding year=20xx to rpg_rt.ini will enable all the advanced features.
