RPG Engine should choice?

I think the answer to this question ultimately depends on what kind of game you want to make. Zelda Classic is likely to be more attuned to developing action-adventure games, whereas RPG Maker is more attuned to making surprise! RPGs.

Though, since you mention "Tsukuru", the official English translations of 2K and 2K3 have a fairly reasonable price point on Steam. Though, depending on what you want the game to be, you might want to consider a more recent RPG Maker engine, such as Ace, MV, or MZ.

Hey, thanks for giving this game a go, and the vid!

Old/Lost RpgMaker Games - SegNin's Rare/Obscure RM Games Request Topic

author=LordBlueRouge
Just small update, was anyone able to find BlueMarble? I'm gonna add it to the recent request list.

So, I did a bit of a Google search on this. Keywords used were "blue marble rpgmaker". A result lead me here, and that page suggested that there was a gamepage for it here. Naturally, that link comes up with anti-climbing paint, so, I tried giving the contents trick a try. While it works, there are no downloads listed for the game. It's possible that a download may have existed on the server, but was flagged for deletion?

Next up was the wayback machine. I got a hit dated November 2013, and the game's description included an external link, which is, of course, now dead. I will note that a later hit from the wayback machine, dated January of 2019, the link in the description is missing, so, the file could have been removed from that service either automatically (as these sites sometimes do), or by the dev, themselves.

Attempting to use the wayback machine on the external link only returned references to the URL after 2019, so, no dice there. While I might be able to get a hit on the wayback machine for the game's downloads page, getting the download URL, itself, is a fail-state.

*Edit: As for getting a better search engine, I dunno. I definitely got a non-zero number of results for blue marble dice. Though, with a game title like "Blue Marble", I wouldn't expect anything else. Though, I kinda wonder what might happen one day if some poor soul is trying to find a game literally called Project1, and RMN had long since passed.

Marrend plays Final Fantasy 7 Remake!

--Chapter 15: The Day Midgar Stood Still--

Last time, Cloud and company used grappling hooks to zoom up a wall in hopes that doing so will lead them to the general direction of saving Aerith from Shirna's grasp. The party's landing point is somewhere on the Sector 7's collapsed plate. The fact that there's a vending machine and bench right before even the first ladder indicates to me this is going to be a long climb.

And climb the party does...

..and loooots of it. With intermittent encounters along the way, some of which feature aerial enemies. Not to mention a boss fight at the end of the chapter, also an aerial enemy. I'm inclined to point out that while Barret has used a machine gun in the past, and is the only ranged party member we've met so far, his most potent weapons have been melee. Now, I could be misremembering, but, I don't think Barret gets melee arm attachments in the original FF7 until after the party leaves Midgar?

I'm certainly glossing over a whole lot of details here, but, there honestly wasn't really that much stuff I found interesting to write about. Still, there's a ways to go. How far? Maybe we'll find out next time on the Final Fantasy 7 Remake LP!

Redoing Assets for a Future Steam Release

I don't doubt I've used resources from the internet, particularly when it comes to music. I do my best to state, either in the file name, or in the packed-in credits, where it's from. At least, I think I do. Nothing pisses me off more than hearing a cool tune, and there being absolutely no documentation, about where it's from. If the file was renamed to suit whatever situation it played in the game, and metadata (if any) was wiped, then that makes it even harder to track down.

This was the case of the "Holy Plains" conundrum. The "documentation", if you even want to call it that, was just a list of sites, with no specifics about what thing came from where. If there was metadata, it was wiped. Thankfully, I was helped by OldPat. I got lucky that time. The next time? Who knows?

*Edit: On a more positive note, I suppose this project pushing back Izrand doesn't bother me to much. In the end, you should do what you feel is right, and where your inspiration is bludgeoning pointing you towards.

Umbral Soul

Sometimes, the best response is to disengage. I may not like FactChecker's attitude, but, that's not reason to go after them either. The state of this game belongs in WheelmanZero's hands, and no one else's. If they say they want to make a special edition, or whatever, and mention it might take some time for it to come out, then the best thing anybody can do is support them however they can.

*Edit: Sorry. I think this might be hitting a little too close to home. I've a project I've got that I might actually abandon, and I should probably make up my mind about it.

[RMVX ACE] States like dark souls

I can't say for sure how possible it is for the code to be worked into such a way that states stack their effects X times. Like, in the back of my head, I'm pretty sure that states exist as an array of objects. I don't know off the top of my head where in the code the states are applied, but, the thought in the back of my head is that, under regular circumstances, states with the same ID are not allowed to be included into that array.

I suppose one reason for that is so that when a something (skill, code, event-command, whatever) attempts to remove a state, it only needs to check the contents of the array for the first/only instance of the state, pops it off the array, then continues processing. If multiple instances of a state is allowed, the entire contents of the array would have to be searched for removal before continuing. Not that doing so would likely make any observable changes that would effect the end-user, but, it also feels... inefficient? I dunno.

RPG Maker Steam Sale and MZ vs MV talk

From what I understand, the people that already had MV had no particular desire to get MZ. I think I recall reading posts from MV users, saying that MZ shouldn't have been it's own separate engine, and be an upgrade to MV. I only have MZ, so I don't really have a point of comparison here. Though, thinking about it this way, I suppose the differences between MV and MZ might be similar to, say, VX and Ace? In that the underlying engine and functions might be very similar, but, MZ has a number of bells and whistles that would make it an overall better engine to develop in than MV.

I don't know the state of plug-in support for either, but, I do know Yanfly has sets of plug-ins for both, and a non-zero number of them are paid content. To the best of my knowledge, MV was the last engine Yanfly made free scripts for. Any scripts he made for MZ might have gone into VisuStella's suites of plug-ins? I'm sure there's users on this site with better/more info than me in this regard.

I could swear that he also offered some months (years?) ago but I cannot remember where the comment was :/

This post, perhaps? The text specifically talking about making a fan-trailer uses strikeout, so, I question the seriousness of it. Though, LordBlueRouge seems to have a tendency to use strikeout as a "speaking softly" effect, so, I dunno.
