MEGAN_HUNTER'S PROFILE

I'm a 32 year old cartoonist and animator living in Los Angeles. I played around with RPG Maker 95 about a dozen years ago, but these days with VX is the first time I've really used it again. Pull up a seat and say hello! I'm really excited about writing some photoshop tutorials for the site.

Remember in those old Ultima games? Where you'd have a bunch of powerful classes to pick from, and then the Shepherd? And he was always really weak and nerfed and was just there for a challenge? Well he's back buddy. And he is piiiiiisssssssssssssssed at you.

That *is* an enormous amount of work. Hehe, this reminded me of that Neverwinter Nights controversy: http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/Portrait

Doesn't read as well as it needs too yet...a little too hard to tell her front from her back. I thought the corset ties would make it obvious, and it kinda worked in ink, but colored there's just not enough shading with how I did the glass. I think adding her back elbow will help.

Water spell? Immune to crits checkbox? You're in awe of my mad RM skills. It's okay, I can tell. Can you tell I don't program? :D

These red face graphics pop into a text field whenever you gain enough experience in a summon to get its next power, but some items can be traded in Time Town for otherwise unobtainable abilities. With the red I was trying to go for that "intro to a cartoon" feel, but I'm not sure how successful this was. I tried just their heads but was not a fan.

Götterdämmerung RPG

Ah HA! I did get the Marduk myth hehe. Admittedly I'm guessing I'm the only one here who was engaged to then later dumped by an archaeologist. I haven't gotten to try it yet but the posts almost make it sound like the anime B@st@rd (not even sure if that will be able to post.) Okay city of Metallicana...special attack Guns and Roe! :)

Easy question for RPGers

So why is blue magic called blue magic? Would a caller be like yellow magic?

When FF1 hit our shores we couldn't figure out Red magic either. White I get, Black I get...wait, being able to do both is called Red? I remember conversations trying to figure out why it wasn't called Grey. (Wow, he really would have looked like Gandalf.) Then Blue came out and my head exploded. The simple answer is that for whatever reason they picked red previously, blue is just the next good opposite choice. It matches white, black and red without actually meaning anything. So I'm afraid there isn't an answer, or more specifically, probably just that disappointing one.

Sometimes they break up the schools...they took out White's buffs and Black's debuffs and made Green magic, though briefly. (Some folks, back when FF "2" came out for our SNES, thought calling / summoning was Green because the character, Rydia, is practically monotone.) They've also made separate Time magic schools that had a little of both, but that's about the time they stopped being so hardcore about using the colors. Kimahri's blue was called Lancet and Ronso Rage. Quina Quen's lancet was called Eat.

Not sure if you're making an FF game, and if you are the best of luck. For whatever my two cents are worth, I wouldn't feel like you have to stick with Blue unless you want to. Wild Arms 1 had a swordsman who developed new sword techs by seeing things happen in cutscenes or on the map; that's always stayed with me and I love the idea of getting new powers from monsters or whatever but using the same custom flavor that swordsman had.

Simple Importing

From my experience, if RM does take non PNG formats it would end up being more trouble than it's worth than just sticking with pings. But while photoshop is totally handy (though I actually have a lot of exemption errors when using it for pings...annoying that) you don't need expensive software to turn say a GIF or JPG you find online into one. Heck, you don't eve need free software!

I haven't needed to try here myself, but I used to use something similar to change video formats. But it's basically a link where you upload one graphic format and it spits it out as another for you. Falcon's right about the bit mode too, I think VX can handle anything but the older titles are a bit more restricted. But as long as you're not using photographs it won't degrade the quality, except maybe the very outside border around the character.

I really like the monster art you're using as well

In Defense of Peace

Hmm...I suppose "in defense of peace event" would have had more bite.
