[DEMO+YOUTUBE] Cell Chamber

The presentation is very keen. There's a lot of obvious work put into everything, and the custom scripts and menus are very nice. I'm not feeling that drawn into the story, though. I intend to give it more time.

Not sure if it's just my computer right now, but the game feels slightly choppy. It's especially noticable when it makes the music skip. I've been online all day though, so I'll see if this persists when I pick up the game next.

I had to freaking turn up my monitor brightness up to max to see anything that is going on in this game.

NPC

It's virtually the exact same procedure. The only difference is that you double click on the white box labeled 'Graphic' as opposed to clicking on the 'set' box in RM2K/3.

Regardless of whether he is in 2K/3 or XP, I'm worried about the lack of compassion you all are showing for this child's welfare.

NPC

Incase my explanation wasn't clear enough, which is probable.

NPC

Go to the event layer, double click somewhere on the grid. Select a character graphic to represent the NPC. There you go. To make the character talk, make the event a push key event and put a message in the event.

RPG Maker '03 controls

*Grumbles about actually liking XP being absconding*

RPG Maker '03 controls

Have you got a Auto Run event in the background? That is liable to freeze your game, especially if there is no actual script in there.

Hellion [it's like Diablo and DQ had a baby!]

Finally finished the demo, but it took me several sit down attempts and a lot of saving and restoring. It took me upwards of two hours to beat this, as opposed to the half hour you suggested. I must REALLY suck. Maybe because I'm playing as a cleric, or maybe because I'm not really a Rogue RPG kinda guy.

Those Pixie Mages seem ludicrously over powered compared to virtually every other enemy in the pit. I had to purposefully run from any encounter from them and level up just to get enough gold to afford armor and a weapon to be able to tackle them.

I found that the shop has better items for cheaper than the random items the special merchant offers.

It's weird to open a chest, find a smaller chest inside of it and then needing to go into my inventory to open it and get a random item.

Building up the skills was pretty neat. Menus feel really wonky, and running feels buggy, but it's really awesome to see a lot of the concepts we discussed about Generica implemented here.

Thom dies REALLY easy. But he's still by bestest pal ever, even if he is a coffin 90% of the time. I really wasn't able to afford/persaude anyone else besides the dopey druid, who I turned down because I figure a bard is enough of a liability.

[GAMEDEV] Following Mewd's example...

But anyway, I'm telling you guys that it will be amazing!

I'm confident it will be, as I have little doubt in your abilities. Wilfred the Hero appealed to me on an unreasonable number of levels.

Video game discussion! Here! Now!

Diablo gets mainly reverent respect from what I am able to tell. I hear far more gushing fans than detractors.

I only tried the original. Wasn't really able to get into it. I hear Diablo 2 is better, but I get the impression that Rogue RPGs just aren't for me.

Blue Dragon

So does Akira Toriyama just REALLY like working on things that have 'Dragon' in the title?

Personally, I endorse the Wii, but the system is having a lousy time getting off the ground. It's a lot like the DS's first year. Mainly we've got shallow fluff games. Hopefully the system will pick up steam, seeing as how it's outselling both 360 and PS3 by a vast margin. As PS2 demonstrated, raw system power doesn't matter much in the face of a huge user base.

I absolutely love Odin Sphere. I can't blame you, Hex, if you aren't charmed by modern games. Personally though, I love modern games as much as I love the classics. I found that the last generation was host to some spectacular titles, but that's all a matter of taste.
