Which is why I only jumped into RPGmaker.net's community AFTER you guys had the big shiny website with lotsa buttons finished. Offering virtually no morale support prior to that.

In the RPG Maker community, I have seen A LOT of websites break, or just get started, and have big ol' progress meters about how much there's left to do to make the site. These meters do not budge for months and then presumably the entire staff gets bored and deserts.
Depressingly, that's like a lot of actual RPG Maker projects.

The Tales West: Wild West Action RPG
As far as Western games go, you might check out Outlaws, Sunset Riders or Freddy Pharkas Frontier Pharmacist.
Wild Arms has a following but I never got much into that.
Also: Sandfall, on this website, was pretty keen.
This game here, The Tales West, seems fairly ambitious and earnest.

Hey man, good luck, but unfortunately I don't think you'll nab a partner here.
Most of the gang seems to have wandered off, and just about everyone has their own project to fiddle with.

The Tales West: Wild West Action RPG
The dueling system looks ALARMINGLY like Sandfall's pit minigame. This would be an awkward time for Despain to show up.

When you import a graphic, it shows a preview of the graphic. You are asked in the preview to left and right click on a color that you want to be transparent in-game. If you are just importing graphics without selecting a transparent color, the game engine has no idea that the big white/green background behind your character sprites isn't SUPPOSED to be there.

RPG Maker XP - Worth $60?
Personally, I prefer the RTP sets and over-used Mac and Blue sets infinitely more than rips. I find graphics stolen from commercial games to be distracting and inconsistent. Just because you recolor Setzer and give him a sword does not change the fact that he looks like Setzer. I'd rather put up with seeing Alex Mysterious Blue Haired Guy duke it out for the umpteenth time.
Although, I feel for users who simply can't find the graphics they need in the RTP. Especially if they are confounded to hades and back because of that stupid sea ship chipset.
I will admit that the RTP for 2K3 and XP REALLY don't compete with the modestly handsome 2K graphics. XP's graphics took A LOT of getting used to.
XP really hasn't had a ludicrously good title yet, but there are an awful lot of 'epic' projects made with it. That put mountains of work into a game, give it a laundry list of features and typically turn out to be rather tedious to actually play.

The 'Auto-font install' script apparently failed when I tried to run the game. Had to put it in manually.
