Dragon Quest IV, V, and VI for DS (with scans)
I wouldn't figure it to be too good if they're using resources from DQIV PSX port. It looked a lot like DQVII, which really looked awkward and lacked pinache.
Might work better on a DS screen, though.
I wouldn't mind being able to give the SNES era Dragon Quest games a whirl.

Metal Gear Solid series
I don't really expect that Metal Gear on NES was really spectacular in itself. The series didn't hit its stride until the first Solid game, and what was remarkable about the MSX games was that Solid took them as completely canon, wheras any other series reinvention would rework 8-bit era storylines to suit modern needs.
Thus we get Big Boss, which is such a stupidly awesome title.
Quality-wise, they really didn't seem that accessible or fun.
The Solid series is a favorite of mine. It's bloated bad fiction, and an example of a lot of the problems with narrative in games, but it's got such flair and personality that I hardly mind. Good fun.
I do wonder how MGS4 will turn out. I sort of expect that it would've been impossible for it to fully do away with the ridiculous 'magic' plot contrivances, after MGS2 was ground zero for the ludicrous. I figure it's better just to enjoy the campiness of it. Magic hands and all.

Favorite Game Shown at E3 07
Silent Hill 5.
They revealed so little, and yet my ridiculous love of the franchise has already got me way-too-excited.

Considering becoming a game developer, any advice?
I have the misfortune of loving gaming ten times more than novels or film, yet realy only having writing skills almost exclusively.
There's the whole current conceptual movement going on that games should stop trying to be as deep as films or books in terms of story telling and focus primarily (Or exclusively) on gameplay. Such argument has managed to be poigiant, as too many games try too hard to inflate their shallow stories to bloated bursting. Though the idea that games CAN'T tell stories well threatens my livelihood. I'd really like to see more games that push the envelope in terms of story telling. GOOD writing doesn't mean quantity, it's about telling a potent story effectively in the medium provided. Good writing in games is an avenue I consider highly under-developed, but I can hardly truly mouth off about it if I do not produce anything myself worth arguing the point. Here's hoping.
I digress, though. It's frustrating to try and work on games when my skillset is limited to a particular niche, but RPG Maker does compensate for my ineptitude in numerous ways. If you can see your story working well in RPG format it might very well be worth pursuing. But do mind that you will be limited graphically to what is available. If you can't recruit an artist, you may need to consider what is feasible in your story to produce in RPG Maker and what in your story could be functionally reworked. If you simply can't achieve your vision reasonably with the graphics provided (Minding that there are a wealth of pre-made graphic resources to collect and consider) you may want to stick with a novel form.
RPG Maker IS powerful, though. Do you have any specific concerns about what you can achieve with it? Graphically or otherwise?

How important is original 'unique' music in an indie game?
Music adds an ENORMOUS amount to the atmosphere and experience. Having new, quality music is something special. It is not critical to the success of the game but does add a lot.
Like any dimension of game production though, poor quality invites the question of if it should be bothered with at all.
People can include voice acting in games, which can add something, but if the voice acting is horrible than text is infintely preferable. (Unless perhaps it is hilariously bad.)
Likewise, using pre-made resources can be acceptable if you can't produce great graphics/music on your own. Other things can be stricken entirely if you aren't adept at them; particularly intricate writing.
A game can shine in one or two particular aspects of design and still triumph. So long as the bad doesn't over burden the good.

Long forgotten chipset!
I'll compose you music
Keen of you to offer to compose for people Erave. Compensating you with reviews for Last Legend seems reasonable, though I wonder if you could wind up with a too heavy work load.
Gredlen's Official Anime and Manga Topic of Fun and General Merriment!
The last anime I watched was the 1969 Toei Children's anime The Wonderful World of Puss 'N Puss.
I am on the CUTTING EDGE here.
That film was a nostalgia drenched childhood favorite of mine, though. I am surprised it got a DVD release, but pleased.
