Is there any reason for that one weapon that reduces all dmg to 1?
I had Erin use it to make her a bulky healer and nothing but a bulky healer before I realized... it makes you heal 1 HP as well...

Stats, it gives a very good boost to Speed ( At least Al Di La does, not sure about Heart of Mysia ). It is intended for strict item users, as Stimulants, Combat items, etc. aren't affected.

My strategy is the same as it is for all battles; set up a SPD Crush Field and SPD Boost Field immediately, use ATK and CRIT boosters on Gray and Leon, then have them blast everything to bits with EX attacks. I might use an EX Crush Field too if I have a turn to spare. I suspect that it will probably work, but since I haven't used Leon since the end of the storyline, I might have to level grind a bit, since the boss hits hard from what I've seen so far.

(Speaking of which, how do you kill Significant Bits reliably? I'm planning on using them for level grinding, but I'm not sure how to defeat them. EX Crush is obvious, but they seem to have a 1% resistance to everything like the Metal Hydra. Do I have to use CRISIS if I want to kill them?)

For the boss...
Well, she hits hard enough to almost 1-shot Leon at level 88 (only about 100-200 HP off) with Pulsar, so I'd say that qualifies as hitting hard. However, if you can get through that you should be fine, as it costs her either 4-5 EX to use it, and she doesn't have much else going for her damage-wise.

Small note : She seems very difficult to speed crush. In my video, it took me 4-5 tries, and it worked like in the middle-end of the battle, pretty much saying it didn't do a whole lot.

C.R.I.S.I.S., G.U.A.R.D.I.A.N., S.P.E.A.R., F.B.D., any of them will do fine, unless you have time to hit them for 1-7 damage every hit, which you probably don't.

By the way, what are those acronyms for (if the are for anything)?

Anyway, good luck with finding the secret, Missileboater. Keep us updated! :o

Well, I did finally use the Save cube at the glowing orb right before the whole thing, so if it really comes down to it, we can just try all the combinations and split it amongst us.

By the way Neok...

Would telling me which one of the hints is the actual one be too much?

I'm still having a bit of trouble with the boss after that, though...

...

If you're talking about ...

Buffed up Aila, did you trying using the Nova Mode along with Erin, like I did, so you can use First Aid every turn after the first? If you do that, the only real threat against you is Pulsar, which hopefully you can revive fast enough. If you really have trouble, did you try turning your third character into a strict item user (like I did with Hawk). It'll help if the item user has a lot of HP so you don't have to worry about him/her that much.

(On an unrelated note, woah, Missileboater, Leon is capable of dealing an average of ~7000 damage PER HIT of Blast Revolver with CRIT and ATK boosts? o_O I think I may be replacing Violet on my team...)

It's pretty much why I love the Demon King Cradle, as it will always deal (critical) damage against a boss (unless they're completely resistant to the elements like the Warehouse optional boss), and I believe the highest +Atk power gain in the game. Although, I think you can go farther with Dual Zero-Systems if you're daring enough.

And yeah, I chose Leon over Violet because he has enough HP to survive most attacks without having to guard too often. Also Leon's Exceed ability (Blast Revolver) is based on the Syncs he has equipped, while Violet's (Shooting Star) has set elements, which means she can only be effective against a much more limited number of enemies.

And I don't believe i used Atk boost all that much, only when I have too many extra turns.

Almost 1000 d/l's!!

Anyone who's interested, I found these songs to be perfect replacements for the in-game themes in phase 8. Just d/l them, put them in your music folder, and rename them as appropriate. The songs are meant to be similar to the originals.

Main battle theme: http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/163175
Tournament battle theme: http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/266751
Boss: http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/139576
Last boss (totally subjective): http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/18712
Ending: http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/188279
Although the ending theme is pretty emotional as is!

Thank you Newgrounds!

I'm almost finished with the game, Neok, so expect an updated review soon. So far, it has lived up to the hype.

Very nice find on the music tracks. If they aren't under the damn Youtube music copyright, I might replace "Blast My Desire" with one of the battle themes listed on there. Definitely better than just listening to silence. Although, I might have to do some research so I can properly credit them if I do use them.

Hey Neok, I think I found a glitch when skipping a cutscene early in the game:

What Neok said about the fourth wall sparked my interest last night. I've literally 5 minutes to convey this info now, so I'll be brief and give a more detailed report later.

When he said break the fourth wall fourth wall in the core, I began to ponder the various meanings.

First, I thought about LITERALLY breaking the FOURTH wall. On the way into the core, there are several restricted areas, most of which vanish on return trips after clearing the core. Alas, searching the back and foreground of Restricted Area 4 yielded no results. Nor did any of the other areas.

Second, I considered the other meaning. Acting with the knowledge that you are in a video game. This resulted in an interesting glitch when the area began collapsing. I was able to walk in the air by moving into the foreground and backtracking a bit. Unfortunately, I found no secrets doing this. It can hardly be said I was thorough, as once I triggered the glitch I couldn't progress any further and was trapped in the area I'd managed to walk into. Also, a great deal of that area is covered by blocks, which I can't see and easily move through.

Lastly, I'll note that I remember that there is another section to your right after the High Octane Nightmare Fuel induced Face Maze that I couldn't seem to access easily on my second trip through the maze after hearing this. No idea how to get there as of yet, but perhaps someone else could share.

OH! Before I forget, I checked every cell at the end of the maze and yielded nothing, but forgot to check the foreground now that I reflect on it.

More info to follow...

Just want to say that...

the section to the right of the "normal" end of the Face Maze is the secret.

Small Fact : After going through the face maze in a certain order, I was able to skip the part where the eyes of the "faces" lit up, and probably other parts too. This might be helpful, might not, but anything can help right now.

Am inclined to spill the beans on the hint that Neok gave me, but I haven't tried all the options that I'm thinking of yet. I may if this isn't figured out after that.

Oh I see what you mean. Try levelling them up ;).
Wait, you mean that they gain more skills upon levelling up? O_O You are forgiven, Neok! Just remember to include leaked experience next time if you can.

Well.. it's hidden somewhere in the Core of Orbital Prison, so while nothing's really permanently missable, you'd have to reset the optional content and re-unlock Orbital Prison if you want access to that area again. Sorry man.

;_; No way am I going through the entire Orbital Prison again for that, sorry. Especially not that horrific multi-door section in the core, good gods Neok you can be a creepy guy when you want to.

Speaking of which, hm...
We need to "break the fourth wall"? o_O Do you mean pressing the down key to enter a certain area? (That's towards the screen, so might be counted as that...) Or, we may have to interact with something fourth-wall breaking...? I hope it's not in the freaky multi-door section of horror. I don't remember seeing anything there that could "break the fourth wall", though, so...? Anyway, a rundown of the separate areas of the core that I remember:

1. Copy of level 1. Orbs are scattered about that complete the apocalyptic log from the real level 1. Many areas are blocked off. Touching the final orb causes the level to glitch...

Wait. Stop right there.

That's where you have to break the fourth wall, I think. Somehow... :/ Try doing something in that area, Missileboater. If it doesn't work, I'll brainstorm more ideas.

My back-up idea is that he doesn't mean to break the literal fourth wall, but that there's an object *inside* the game called the fourth wall or something like that that you have to break...

Yeah, GRD doesn't seem to do anything for me either. Both GRD Boost and GRD Crush don't seem to affect anything. :/

From what I can tell, the number of skills you get don't change ( except for the Joker ones ), but you just get more powerful versions. Of course, I never really got that far into leveling them myself.

Haven't really gotten that far yet, and I'd rather complete what I just started. (Would appreciate if you can tell me if I missed a shard along the way, getting a bit paranoid about it. )

I'm going to take a guess and say that we have to collect all the information from the (a) items in the clue, and try to make some sense out of them. (Kind of like Shards in Oberon tower, just more complicated). Guess I'll try to get them once I get there after I reset my levels and optional areas.

While that would certainly make sense, do you really think Orbital Prison's the kind of place where sense really means all that much? :P

If you're really stuck, this might give it away, but

try breaking the 4th wall somewhere where it might be appropriate to break it.

Don't give me that wtf face. :P I'm serious. That's how you get in.

Have you ever thought of putting up an "ubersaves" section? Although mines don't really live up to it unless you play it the way I do, it should be enough to get through every battle pretty easily (Kind of shows in the Shade Bit battle).

Hmm, I don't have much experience with editting the gamepage, but okay, if you guys want to send me your savefiles, I'll figure out a way to put them up for download.

Before I reset levels, I want to know if the auto-leveling of a character was intentional or just do to a glitch. Before the final area in Avalon, Hawk joined my party at about level 20, but when I placed him into my party along with Leon and Erin, he was somehow level 54.

Yeah, it only happens to Hawk since he leaves the party for almost half the game before coming back. Everyone else only really leaves for like 1-2 phases, so their levels stay static.

What optional areas are only available in post-game? Kind of debating on starting a new game for a boss walkthrough and I really want to get the Demon King Cradle from Below Stynx 3 as early as possible, as you can probably tell it's one of my most favorite syncs in the game.

Below Stynx, NML 3 and Orbital Prison. Also Metal Hydra and T-bot Mk3

btw, lovin' your new avy :D.

Going to save the button for after trying to figure it out myself.

Are you looking for any particular types of saves? Like a new game but with all items? Or fresh new game saves at the start/end of certain phases?

Thanks for the reply on the auto-leveling, just found it a bit strange how it only happens when I put him into my party, thought something like that would've happened right after the character joins the party.

Darn, the Demon King Cradle would've made the story Aila fight much much easier.

And this game did get me interested in enough to register here, and I accomplished my first real personal achievement on this site, so I believe that it deserves the spot. Although, would've liked Leon with the CRIT Booster animation with a picture of what the Demon King Cradle looks like on the side, but I'll take what I can get.

I do have a question, what does the Guard (Defense) stat really do. In the later battles I had Hawk with near-max or max Guard stat, and the damage that he receives isn't all that different from what Leon receives, even though he's usually sitting at 1-120 Guard. I do noticed that Hawk usually gets healed less from First/Second Aid, but that might just be a coincidence.

If you will allow it to be known to the community, I guess either one of us can say it.

You can say it if you want. I'm personally gonna shut up about it though. In all honesty, it'll just raise more questions than it answers, and probably isn't worth the effort necessary to get to it (especially if you have to re-unlock Orbital Prison). It won't make much sense until AAV comes out anyways.

Just so you're not wasting too much time though, there's nothing in Orbital Prison 1-4 that you haven't already found ;)

Orbital Prison story

Orbital Prison will be explained more in-depth in AAV. But just so you know,

The little girl mentioned is not Aila. If you want to know the little girl's identity, you can find her cell somewhere in Orbital Prison's core, as mentioned in the notes. As far as I know, no one's ever found her cell, not even the testers. Missileboater knows something about how to get in there though ;).

....

He did let me in on a little hint after the challenge, however I can't make much of it in the time being ...

If you will allow it to be known to the community, I guess either one of us can say it. But from what I did so far, I managed to get the clue due to I having a save right before the final boss. I think we can safely eliminate the choices (b) and (c) right now, as they don't seem as possible as (a) is. However, the number of things that this clue can refer to is a lot. There are plenty of the things in Orbital Prison 1, and one in Orbital Prison 3. Not saying (b) nor (c) are completely out of the picture, as bizarre things can appear in that area, but it's just my guess for now.

Besides, trying to get to the point where I can record the Orbital Prison bosses ( including the full power behemoth ) at levels 50+, instead of 85+, pretty sure not too many people found those that interesting.
Although, I think I have to play through the game again, because at my current state I just don't have enough credits for the essential battle items, and there isn't a way to make credits without gaining EXP.
Unless I reset my levels with my post super-boss save (675k credits), but I'll think of something about that eventually.

post=211293
Ugh, Underwater Facility 2? :( Which maze is it in, the second teleporter from the left? I admit that I probably didn't get everything there... (looping areas make me want to pull my hair out)

...

Ah, I remember now. I was lost in that damn maze for about a good 20-30 minutes. Although, it was one of the first things I found. At that point I was trying to get to the right and bottom if I remember correctly. I personally won't recommend it that much if you're getting it for real use. Only reason I had that on Erin was because in the challenge, she had barely enough HP to survive a X-Devastation ( she was really close to dying at one point, which would've been bad ). So it was best for me to give her something with +HP/Rnd, and Ultima just happened to be in the top of the list with no negative X/Rnd. But, if you're doing it for a collection, good luck.
