[Poll] Super Nintendo Vs. Sega Genesis
Super Nintendo. Super Mario World was made for it, and it's possibly the best game ever made. You can't play Super Mario World on a Genesis.
[Poll] Which Final Fantasy had the best character development system?
author=Feldschlacht IV
The difference is whether or not it's viable to have the ability to make everyone identical, whether you actually can or not. Sure yeah, titles like FF4 or FF9 are static, but in titles like FF5, FF10, and FF13, you CAN make everyone identical, but it's generally a dumb stupid idea until the very end of the game.
That's not entirely the case with 10. The characters' individual overdrives have a huge impact in endgame fights. Not that they offer much strategic value since you most likely end up using Tidus, Yuna, Wakka and Rikku because of their overdrives.
Who's your favorite videogame character?
Solid Snake in the first Metal Gear Solid. He's basically a cold sociopath, but he also compliments women's butts and has wise things to say. I love the scene where Naomi confesses she's infected Snake with FoxDie and that he's going to die. Snake's like ok, I'm an asshole and I deserve to die, but I can't go yet, I still have a job to do. The dude doesn't even care he's going to drop dead, he only cares about getting shit done. I get chills evry tim.
How do you feel about profanity in RPG Maker games?
I don't mind profanity in games, but it often feels tacky in RM games. Little pixel people cursing is just funny in a bad way. If the writer manages to establish a "voice" to a character that curses, then it might work fine.
FOUR STARS...for what ??

i hear metacritic 1 sentence user reviews are great because its not like a buttmad controversy meter. not at all
I don't know how much traffic this site gets, but I assume Metacritic is in a whole different league. I know things have gotten nasty there with astroturfing and all, but most developers on this site are hobbyists making free indie games, not huge companies with profit to make. I guess it comes down to whether you trust the community to play fair.

FOUR STARS...for what ??
I think the only problem with this is that sorting games by rating is pretty useless. A lot of games here have a five star rating, but does it mean anything when most of them have just one review? Then there are games like Master of the Wind that have lots of reviews and have a lesser rating because of that. I guess what I'm trying to say is that the rating doesn't really say anything about the game's quality unless it has a sufficient amount of ratings.
Maybe give the developer an option to enable user ratings like Metacritic? It won't bring much quality writing to the site, but at least it would provide more data to compare. Furthermore, maybe the site could allow users to submit less detailed reviews, but distinguish the quality ones somehow? Maybe a math person could work out an algorithm to create a final rating based on the user ratings and the reviews.

Pro tip newbies: Learning takes effort
I think the inclusion of scripting in the wake of XP's release changed the community. Definitely not for the worse game-wise, there's lots of impressive stuff nowadays, but I also enjoyed the sort of DIY attitude in the 2k/3 era. It was like making cool and pretty things with a limited set of tools. When games like Legend of the Philosopher's Stone with their fancy custom menus and battles got their demos out, the hype was real, but now every new kid on the block can just slap a script onto their project and get those cool things right away. I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing, but I feel that back then the RM community was more unique by nature.

author=Libertyauthor=Yellow MagicThat forum was great. Eye-destroying, yes, but great. Some of the content is still there.
I was able to master the basics of RM2000 when I was 12, when Youtube wasn't even a thing and Don Miguel's forum was still around, bless his soul. I don't think it's that difficult to get the hang of this stuff.
Oh man, that made me nostalgic. I wonder what Don is doing these days.
What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?
author=0range00author=Mobhwhich one? I've considered the one on PSN like thousand times, but always the 5 euro pricetag seems too much. (No idea why, cuz i love horror games)
Finally got my hands on Forbidden Siren. Spooky game!
The first one. I believe it's called just Siren in the US. I wonder why they changed the PAL title.

You should try Forbidden Siren 2, it's the best of those games. Huge step up from the first game.
I'll definitely check it out eventually.
