Thoughts on RPG Maker MV?
Some initial thoughts...
+ Side and front view battles in one package. I've been wanting this since Rm2k3.
+ Mouse support is awesome.
+ Event Searcher seems useful.
+ Database isn't cluttered by default for once.
- Can't access scripts from the program for some inexplicable reason.
- The plugin system feels like a solution to a problem that didn't exist.
- File sizes are brutal.
- RTP assets are well made but I'm not feeling the art style. Disappointed to see the chibi characters come back. I can't make my super serious JRPGs about saving the world with these.
- Minor thing, but I don't like how the editor doesn't show assets in their native res.
- Mapping took a huge step backwards after XP and it still hasn't recovered, sadly.
- Why are you selling an "Essentials Set" separately? I already paid 80 bucks and I need to pay 10 more for something you consider essential?
All in all I'm having a hard time finding justification for the price tag, but I'm not terribly disappointed.

[RM2K3] Do you think this game is marketable?
The thing about selling your game is that it instantly raises the expectations for quality. Then again, there are a lot of people who don't know what RTP even means and might assume you've done all of the assets yourself, and this would obviously be frowned upon by the RM community.
Honestly, if you're going to sell it for 50 cents you might as well distribute it for free.

Horror Genre in RPG Maker
author=Max McGee
It is really not that popular I would say. Probably less than 10% of games made in RPG Maker are 'horror'.
They actually might be the most popular genre of RM games right now. Just look at the most downloaded games on this site, they're mostly horror games. It's probably because some mainstream YouTube channels have done Let's Plays of them.
Whatchu Workin' On? Tell us!
I've been trying to do some mapping, but I just hate the downgrade from XP to VX/Ace. It feels so restricting. Hopefully the next version will address this.
What is the biggest RM game?
Yeah, I don't have the patience to play 50+ hour RM games either. I just think it's fascinating some people are determined enough to create games that rival professional RPGs in scope. You have to be a little crazy to achieve that.
Love
It's like Postal without the humor. Looks pretty mediocre, might be fun to play through once though.
I do appreciate the sentiment even though the game looks like nothing special. It's like a middle finger to the face of certain kind of people. Anything that rustles so many jimmies is at least worth taking a look at.

What is the biggest RM game?
What are the biggest RM games in terms of length and content? How many have had the patience and resilience to craft a true RPG Maker epic?
I never finished them, but I remember the Laxius Power games are supposed to be absurdly long, like over a hundred hours.

Sooo... GamerGate
I've tried to do research on the issue but it's become increasingly hard. I don't know if it's about journalism or gender or politics or whatever. Everyone seems to have their own take on what it's about and twist it into whatever suits them, kind of like what happened to Occupy.
I sympathize with GamerGate in the way that I'm all for ethical reporting, but I hold no grudge against feminists or anything, no matter how fanatical. It doesn't hurt my feelings if someone's thinks I'm a potential rapist just because I'm male. You're free to think whatever you like.

[Poll] Images Accompanying Dialogue: Faces or Busts
I prefer facesets. It's good to have some visual accompaniment and it helps clarify who's speaking in case you forget names. Emotion variants are good and all, but I don't think they're necessary.
With busts, it takes more preparation in setting up the scene. They tend to take a lot of space so you need to make sure they don't obscure anything important.
