Opinion on Fangames
I've played plenty of crappy RPG Maker fangames over the years, but there have been some great ones like NigSek and Blackmoon Prophecy. Fangames have a bit of a stigma that's not entirely unwarranted, but I don't really have anything against them as a concept. It's just another form of self-expression.
I can't really grasp why beginners think their best course would be to try and make a Final Fantasy game as their first project.

What needs to be in a Final Fantasy fangame?
Many of the games in the series revolve around a certain theme, like VII that dealt with environmentalism and IX and X with death and sacrifice. The theme is often represented by some high concept idea the story is built aroung, e.g. the Lifestream, Sin and the Genomes. I do believe a FF game needs to have a strong theme that drives the story.

I have a soft spot for 2k3 which has a certain charm to it, but I can't deny that Ace is the best RM yet, and it's the one I'm working with right now.

When you start preparing for the toughest bosses in the game, the Sphere Grid becomes a nightmare since you basically have to replace every stat boost. It's awfully time consuming.
Harrison Ford...Seriously
Harrison Ford's a grumpy old man now. Well sure, he's over 70, but in every movie he's in these days he looks like he just doesn't want to be there and he just keeps phoning in every performance. Did you see that Ender's Game movie? He sounded like he was going to fall asleep any minute. I don't know why he keeps acting anymore, you'd think he's got plenty of money already.
