[MAFIA] The Resistance: Avalon Mafia - GAME ON

@Psy (about Cap) Yes, maybe scum would be too cautious to Hammer. I guess I just don't see why he would do it other than he was too sure that IF was scum to wait and hear more.

@LockeZ Actually that might be you. Your posts so far really seem like town posts so far. Even though there isn't as much material, your posts contain much more substance than those of other players so I'm still fairly confident in this. Other town reads for me are Ky, piano and psy, for similar reasons. This read is someehat less confident since (correct me if I'm wrong I haven't reread it) they all voted up IF yesterday.

I know that his slip up had many legitimately suspicious. However there's a possibility that some scum players were voting him up too. They would have thought they could get away with it because of how bad IF looked at the time.

[MAFIA] The Resistance: Avalon Mafia - GAME ON

That day one went very quickly in the end, and I missed a lot of events since last night. I'm finally caught up but it's 0:45 and I have work tomorrow morning, sorry that I'm not posting more.

If I'm reading the time codes right, you guys hammered IF with a million hours still left on the clock, and he hadn't really said all he wanted to say. Can I point out that was a really bad idea? I'm looking at you Cap_H. I wanted to know why he was so suspicious of these players that he trusted before, but allas...

Right now I'm left wondering why scum chose Ozzy as their night one target...

He wasn't as active or aggressive as some other players, so he wasn't immediately dangerous. Hitting Lancelot is literally the worst outcome for them (except for hitting their own Oberon, perhaps) since they lost their night kill AND they give us a confirmed townie.

Thus, scum has clearly misread Ozzy's behavior. They either thought he was vanilla, Percival or Merlin. All three of those are possibilities, but I suspect they thought he was Merlin.

In general, with the rules we have been given, it just makes more sense to me, for scum to always lynch the person who they think is most likely Merlin. They might end up hitting a bad target some of the times with that tactic (as they just have), but if they get lucky and hit Merlin, they win the game on the spot (technically Lancelot dies first, and then there's 1 more day where town gets a chance to look for Mordred. It's still pretty much won for scum).

Maybe Ozzy made some out of no nowhere scum reads that lead them to believe he was Merlin and dropping hints? I honestly don't remember such a thing myself but I'm gonna re-read all of his posts carefully.

I should point out, however, that it's possible they shot Ozzy to put us on the wrong footing. I don't think that tactic is very costly in this game mode, because the payoff for hitting Merlin is so big. But if scum is really clever and ballsy, they could have gone that route.

Looking back again at the reactions to my Merlin roleclaim, I would say most seem pretty normal. I was hoping there might be a bandwagon on me so I could see who hopped on it and make reads, but it turns out that most people just reacted in utter confusion. Cap_H did vote me up on his own, but being the first to cast the vote on Merlin claim would be an insanely risky tactic for scum. Still, I have my eye on him in case he is just really aggressive scum.

Okay I'm going to briefly go through that list. I might expand tomorrow since I have to leave in 10 minutes.

Odd: Seems like he wants to talk about anything except for the substance of the game. That reads kind of scum to me. And now that he is being called out left-right-and-center, he's gone suspiciously quiet, almost like nervous scum.

Cap: Like I said above, he's either town, or scum and a absolute madlad.

Atiya: Much too quiet and probably my second favorite for the lynch, after Odd.

Psy: Seems to contribute a lot to the discussion, rather than sitting in the background. Strong town read from me.

Gourd: I haven't seem him make many points but he seem's okay so far. He seems a bit too "friendly" which rouses my suspicious on intuitive level. Maybe that's just his character, I kind of forgot what exactly he plays like.

Kylaila: Seems okay so far I honestly don't have much to remark open.

IF: Maybe the most active player; he's always putting his thoughts out there and discussing possible leads. Seems like IF is an unusually productive town player to me.

Demon: I don't know about him. He was really aggro after the Merlin claim but if he really thought I was game-throwing, then I guess he could just be annoying. I'm honestly not sure.

Yellow Magic: I'm still scratching my head about the indie accusation, seems like it could be sowing confusion or trying to stir up a lynch mod. It could also be distractedness, since game hadn't officially started yet. Leaning wolf.

Muffle: I think Muffle's thought about D1 lynches is interesting and pretty useful. Hasn't said much else that really stuck me.Leaning town I guess.

Platinum: why hello there

Piano: Also makes a lot of valid points. Leaning town on him

Ozzy: Is he still alive though?

For now I'm going to go ahead and

#unlynch me
#lynch Odd

I'm busy with uni right now, but I will read up on the conversation tonight and post my two cents.

Oh, my bad! Sorry about that YM

[MAFIA] The Resistance: Avalon Mafia - GAME ON

I just got ninja'd by about a whole page of discussion so my message is probably out of date.

[MAFIA] The Resistance: Avalon Mafia - GAME ON

I just woke up and read all of your discussion. I'm not actually Merlin. I was just curious how people would react to it to see what I could glean from their responses. Also, I wrote this on page 1:

I'm going for that spicy D1 Merlin roleclaim

I wanted to keep up the claim for at least one night. However, since some people have taken me very seriously and there is so much confusion, I'm starting to worry that I might bait the real Merlin into counterclaiming, which would not be great to say the least.

Also, I don't think the game is an "unbalanced mess", since Jeroen always balances his games very well. So please, let's stop speculating about that. I wouldn't throw one of Jeroen's games.

I think it's very strange that YellowMagic thinks I'm independent even though there are no independents on the role list. But maybe she just hasn't had the time to fully read the rules yet. Her questions about the teams mechanic reflect that.

Out of everyone, Cap_H's response makes him seem the most suspicious. Unless he really suspected I was scum pretending to be Merlin, I don't see he would vote on me. Maybe it's just his play-style to go after Cavedog-like behavior. I just don't think it helps, and it reeks of opportunism.

I'm still for randomly picking a team, but people seem to have moved on from that idea, So I'll keep reading and think a bit about who I want to form the team.

Hello guys, I'm Merlin.

I'm fine with randomly picking a team for now. It all depends on what Jeroen is going to allow though. He's probably going to shoot down most of our ideas because he doesn't like metagaming.

Assuming we have some good way of creating randomness that is allowed, my idea is to pick a random number between 1 and 286, which is the number of possible teams of 3 players. This number will correspond to the index of the team that we are picking. Let's use our player numbers on the sign-up sheet to number us from 1 to 13. Then teams can be indexed like so:
1 : 1 2 3
2 : 1 2 4
3 : 1 2 5
...
11 : 1 2 13
12 : 1 3 4
...
