RPG Maker MV announced for PC and MAC
JavaScript is strange. "Back then" (late 90's, early 2000's) using JavaScript was considered a terrible idea. In fact, you can still disable it from your browser.
JavaScript is not really object oriented (it accomplishes this through prototypes). This doesn't mean it is not good or powerful enough for a game. There are plenty of JavaScript engines out there: List This game was written entirely in HTML5/JavaScript.
If JavaScript is successful or not I think it depends on how you analyse it. Market penetration? Correct use of programming paradigms? For me, JavaScript has been proven to be successful enough to make it my most used language (I used to be a C#/Java programmer). There are things about the language that I do not like and I don't think it is easy enough for beginners, but I also think it has acquired mainstream status and it's worth checking it out. Today, virtually anything can be done with JavaScript, it even powers robots.

Is it worth upgrading to Windows 10?
My experience with Windows 10 has been mostly negative. I have a beast of a computer (Alienware 16GB Ram, 2GBVideo RAM, i7@3.0GHz, 750HDD) and it... lags. I think it is because of driver compatibility or something. I had to disable many runtime services in order to get decent performance.
[General Design] What inspired your game?
Some movies, literature and video games, and personal recollection of stories from friends and family.
Most of my inspiration comes from The Mothman Prophecies, Silent Hill and A Detective Story (Animatrix short). I also have taken some inspiration from The Crow, Picture of Dorian Grey and The Raven (Poe's poem).

So, if the games can be deployed to HTML5 and it actually uses JavaScript... does this means games can interact with "regular" JavaScript? (Scripts that are on the page, not the game itself)
With this, the versatility would be impressive! You could develop games with online features and such.

The fact that it uses JavaScript is really interesting. How feasible would it be to port a 2K3 game to MV? My main problem is that most of my graphics are stuck to the 320x240 resolution.

@Benjo:
Thank you very much, Benjo! Each map is carefully hand-drawn. The artist who is drawing them is very talented.
Indeed, even with the screen at double size you don't notice much pixelation. There are some in-game shots in the page for the game, but these screenshots are not final:

@CashmereCat:
Thank you! Yes, the idea for some sections of the game is to have a gothic look, not all of it, though.
I mentioned the artist your comment and she says "thank you". :)

The map process for Echoes of the Mind is doing fine. I haven't updated much since there has been a lot of work.
Here's a picture containing all the maps we have created so far. These are not in-game screenshots, in-game they look different (fog, lighting and such) and they have been resized.
(Warning, big picture!)

The official English 2k3 version is out!
Well, I just finished "exporting" my game to the official version. So far, so good. I'm not experiencing any issues whatsoever.
I LOVE how the script colors show different in order to match XV Ace's style, its so much easier now.
I read some of the comments in this thread, not all. In my opinion, there's no reason for not buying the engine. I think it is the LEAST we can do, especially at that price.
