Wait a minute CHO, PSN still exists!
Of course, It's just weird Sony would try something that failed twice with a more expensive piece of hard/soft ware.

NGP/PSP2
It doesn't have a UMD drive since they switched the format the games are in, but it is backward compatible with downloaded PSP games.
Going off the pics from here http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/27/the-sony-psp2/
It looks like it only has two shoulder buttons
And man, a res of 960*544, thats just nuts.
The R2 and L2 buttons are on the back. They are touch sensitive.
Yes, everyine, your 40+ UMDS are useless. The system is yet to be finished however, and I see a lot of the introduced and rumored features not existing when the product comes out. Along with a few technical problems.
I do kinda miss shooting people with the UMD drive by opening it while the UMD was spinning.

The problem is what was the point of UMD? Because of poor sales, they already lost money off it. But since lots of people still have them, it would be smarter to have the NGP, or a different version of it, have UMD support. I mean, soon, they won't even support the PSP anymore, and all the UMDS in everyones closet will be useless.
SD cards as an alternative to UMDS and Carts are strange to me. I mean, what's the game case going to look like? A paperclip box? Are they going to put the SD cards in UMD size cases?
As for games, the Dual Analog does look useful in many cases. So it could be a godsned to send the Sony portables back up to competing with Nintendo. However, they are doing exactly what the GO did. Which is kinda stupid since the GO failed a little too hard.
Another point is the fact that most games will have to be downloaded. This also means you will have to FREQUENTLY upgrade your NGP over and over again just like the I-Pod. The PSP did this, but not as frequently as the I-pod. Now some actually don't care in the I-pods case. But frequent updates on a device that's not as popular will help it lose sales.
Of course, there are probably a very large amount of features for this thing. This aslo worries me as it seems Sony focuses way more on features then games.
Another worry is what about movies? What happened to movie UMDs? And when this comes out, will movies be on $80 Sd cards? Is Sony going to come out with Blu-ray SD?($100 per movie.) Or will movies only be downloadable? Because that's something the I-pod does to.
The device as shown is also Touch Screen. But with the actual large amounts of button on the console, what games would be able to use both touch screen and buttons. I do think the supposed "tilt" function is a good idea.
All and all, this looks way to risky for its own good. But an interesting idea.

The newest update said they are using DIGITAL MEDIA. So they aren't using cartridges anymore. Probably like a SD or something. But not UMD.

Hello, I need some quick advice.
Hello, I need some quick advice.
NGP/PSP2
The current PSP has a battery life of 7-10 hours depending on what you are doing (Not including the PSP GO) so if the PSP NGP with all its technology keeps the battery life at 7 hours at least, then it may not be so bad.
Is evolution ruining our lives?

Remember the good old days when people played Pokemon cards? Yu-Gi-Oh? Fuck everyone is young here.
Also, it's based off a video game.
How about remember the good old days when kids played make believe in the forest out back with all the neighborhood kids, not took a break from Pokemon Red to play Pokemon cards.
I must be old because I remember 90% of the U.S. collecting Baseball and Basketball cards back in the day.
