Demo 1.0 - Feedback Blog

I put this into a ZIP file and I haven't tested it, I'm assuming it's working properly please let me know if it's not.

Subcon Stars version 1.1

Glad to hear my Let's Play is actually doing something helpful! I'll try to get the next few videos up shortly.

I was going to use your LP to beat the game but decided to do it myself, it's actually a fairly easy game so far that would be my one complaint if I had one. However I did consult your LP when I was trying to find out how to open the locked door in the first ghost house... which I still can't figure out despite what nin8halos told me.

Subcon Stars version 1.1

I've been playing this on and off and I have to say I really enjoy it. I'll let you know what I think when I beat the game, which I think I'm pretty close (I got 45 stars so far).

EDIT* Sorry I would provide feedback right now but I'm really ocd about beating games before I do any of that.

How was the Demo?

Okay I gave this a whirl and I thought I would let you know what I think.

First off you need to put the contents of your game into a single folder and name it "Super Puzzle World" or something so that you can easily put it into the SMBX "worlds" folder.

Second thing is you left a save file in there... you'll want to get rid of that.
A couple of levels do not have music at all.
And some of the levels are a bit short.

Now onto the levels... in Alphabetical order.

- Battlefields - Basic SMB3 level.

- Ice Climbing - Interesting idea for a level but waaayyyy to short, I beat it in less than ten seconds.

- Obstacle Course - This lava / obstacle level was cool, very nice level design and it fit good with the music.

- Puzzle Plank - Some of the movements of the platforms were a bit stiff. Good use of the switches and what not. Not bad.

- Stack Attack - Interesting idea for a puzzle level. Again, way too short.

- Wild Climb - Basic level.

- Wooden Valley - Again basic SMB3 level, not much to say.

- Yoshi Hills - This level wasn't bad, however there is an unlimited 1up glitch if you stand on the pipes generating the enemy's.

Major Lag Issue :(

Your maps might be too big with too many events, try splitting your maps up. The way I used to do it when I had a big map was take the map, copy and paste it, then delete one half of one map, then the other half of the other map then link them both up and etc.

*EDIT*
Also you might be able to submit this into the forums under "Help & Requests". Just don't mention that it's about your game make it about the VX engine in general.

*2nd EDIT*
Haha never mind, I see you have already done that.
The map is 20x25. Not to big, but how would I "Split it Up?"

Well if your map is that small then chances are it's not the map that is the problem. Again I would copy your game file and keep experimenting with removing scripts and events on your back-up game until you find what is slowing it down. Keep in mind that common events can slow down a game also.

Does anyone have any recommendations for music? I am looking for some that's a little electronic, but not to loud or annoying. It's going to go in "The Mother Board", where the player spends most of his//her time, so I don't want it to be bad.

I always found good music at ultima island

http://uirpg.com/

But for some reason it's not working at the moment...

In the mean time you should go here it has music from anime and games so there is a WHOLE LOT to choose from.

http://gh.ffshrine.org/soundtracks/view-all

*edit*
When you go to that site you should start off by searching for games that might have music you're looking for, mainly from other rpgs such as Suikoden, Persona, Shin Megami Tensei, Fire Emblem etc.

Hope this helped.
