Black Galax: Revert Review
Ah my first review (For this game)! It's always a heart throbbing experience for me to read through a review; Especially if it is the first. XD
Yes, I'll admit that my command of the English Language is rather poor with various grammar mistakes that I didn't even realise were one until I was told. Same with 'Stimulation', until recently, I did not know there was a difference between 'Stimulation' & 'Simulation' which made me look like an idiot in front of my friends when they were play testing it XD.
I'll try my best to proofread to the best of my abilities, if not find someone who has a better command in the language than me.
I'll take that as a compliment ;)
Believe it or not, that was my original intention, which is why I classified it as a Visual Novel RPG hybrid. - Which may have been an error on my part given that I'm poor in English.
Point noted. But given the resource as well as the plot, I decided to aim for a 'Modern-Fantasy' theme during the process of world building.
It that was really the case... (Which isn't revealed in the plot yet. So no fault in your part for the review) I wouldn't bother with the attempt to try to differentiate them.
Once I finish this game, you can judge for yourself :D.
I don't understand.
That's my habit, I usually start out my characters with a familiar archetype/Cliche before diving into their 'Darker' / in-depth personality as well as their 'real and sometimes scary abilities'.
It works very well especially when it comes to plot twists or character twists. - Or at least, that's my take from some of the RPG games I've played.
Point noted. I will try to make it flow more smoothly.
I was actually worried about this, but good to see that it worked out :D
Yes, you are quite spot on with this game 'being a basis' for a serious plot. The plot of this game is partly influenced by my controversial thoughts on society (Thus the mirroring of Earth) as well as some controversial themes like 'Child Abuse', 'Feminism' and a lot more.
The other half would come from the anime that I watch - Mainly Hayate no Gotoku, again known for not being serious with their plot.
So with that, thank you for taking the time to analyse my game and write a review. I appreciate it and I will take note of some of the issues that you pointed out. Though I hope you will explain to me what is the "Matrix concept". I'm rather curious.
Finally...

BG:R is a bizarre production that, to my mind anyway, defies the regular reviewing criteria.
I'll take that as a compliment ;)

We’re frequently treated to info-dumps, sometimes apropos of nothing, sometimes where it makes sense, but all-in-all these are pretty heavy and there are points where BG:R seems to be threatening us with becoming an e-book.
Believe it or not, that was my original intention, which is why I classified it as a Visual Novel RPG hybrid. - Which may have been an error on my part given that I'm poor in English.

But points that anchor BG:R to the Earth history we know are very infrequent, distracted from by the presence of strong and separate fantasy elements.
Point noted. But given the resource as well as the plot, I decided to aim for a 'Modern-Fantasy' theme during the process of world building.

“Techs” would cover the lore’s interpretation of RPG ‘magic’ succinctly and would go towards reinforcing the central concepts rather than diluting and spreading them out.
It that was really the case... (Which isn't revealed in the plot yet. So no fault in your part for the review) I wouldn't bother with the attempt to try to differentiate them.

is represented by an obviously feminine sprite. It’s another element that adds to Black Galax’s surreal undertone, wherein things don’t seem entirely right and odd little details repeatedly beg the question: was that included on purpose?
Once I finish this game, you can judge for yourself :D.

Black Galax flirts with a ‘matrix’ type concept,
I don't understand.

Character development is a little too reliant on our familiarity with their archetypes
That's my habit, I usually start out my characters with a familiar archetype/Cliche before diving into their 'Darker' / in-depth personality as well as their 'real and sometimes scary abilities'.

but switches split-personality-style from this attitude to one of limitless bravado and courage wherever the story halfheartedly calls for it.
Point noted. I will try to make it flow more smoothly.
author=Review
Part aided by the E-Diary and part reliant on it for clarity, the plot succeeds in maintaining momentum without holding the player’s hand.
I was actually worried about this, but good to see that it worked out :D

The whole ‘teenage school goers called upon to enact dangerous quests because magic’ could, in itself, be a basis for a serious plot that explores themes of maturity and maybe even (in a darker world than this) child abuse

I couldn’t decide if the following irony, where Erik (or Eric, as he apparently prefers) laments the overuse of clichés in RPGs, was intentional. I’m happy to leave that question subject to your individual conclusions.

JUSt how far does re-imagining go? Like if i used different instruments and tempo would that count? *is wondering about the Funky Town" remix he did with the Shrine of Soul in mind*
It can be anything that you want as long as you keep the main melody or the chorus in some way as they are the 'identifiers' that you actually remixed an original song. You can change the instrument that plays it, change the bpm, lengthen the music and etc, but as long as you keep the rhythm of the main chorus or some parts of the melody in tact (You can even play this part with a different instrument), it can be counted as a remix.
But the main reason why people remix stuff is either they want to improve it, though I believe that would count as remastering a track, or change the feel of a theme to suit something else. (Like change a Town theme into a funky theme, or sometimes even a battle theme! Just be creative.)
From what I hear people usually keep the Chord progression similar to the original song as they act as a template for your remixes.
Or at least... that's my take on Remixes.

why does my stuff sound so depressive? lol
edit:
Finished!

Well, my first few pieces are very depressing as well :D
Very nice, love the background sounds especially, some of it sounded a bit out of tune but I guess that's just me.

Sky world
Nice, I love it, the ambiance is really there like the previous one, and the fact that it's quiet does give off a sense of peril in the sky world.
Also, what instrument did you use for your main chord? I would like to try messing with it a bit...
Here's something else that I made in my spare time.
Nostalgic Utopia
All feedback appreciated!
The ending does sound a bit abrupt though. Still can't find a proper way to end a music.

Could somebody please tell the answers to Lyeric's questions.
This dude is really pissing me off.
Answers:
Question 1:
A farmer had 23 Cows. All but 12 died.
How many live Cows were left?
Answer:
All BUT 12 died.
Meaning 12 lived, thus the answer is 12.
Question 2:
There are 4 pills and the doctor wants you to take them at a half an hour
interval! How long would it take for you to finish all 4 pills?
Answer: You take the first pill at the start. So you take the remaining 3 pills at Half an hour interval, this means you will finish it in 1.5 hours.
Question 3:
How many ways can you fold to
make a 6x6x6 dimension cube?
Answer: You are not meant to get this right. Just saying.
But there are 11 ways to fold a paper to get this cube.
This requires intense imagination to figure out.
Question 4: (Assume that it's Mitosis)
A cell weighs 10 Picograms initially, after
that it divides twice, so what is the total
weight of the cell?
Answer: When divided, the cell multiplies into 2, but the weight
of the cell remains at it's original 10 picograms. Thus the answer
is 10.
Question 5:
Where are you right now?
Answer: Again, you're not meant to get this right.
But if you think about it, it's actually a 4th wall
breaking question. It asks you where YOU are. So...
the answer is 'None of the Above'.

Which is why I put it in such a way that you don't have
to get it all right, because not even I could get it all
right at first try! XD

This is one of the reasons why I say playing this as its current state is not recommended because
I've made a lot of improvements on it since this demo version.
Some of the plot holes you mentioned are addressed and grammar errors are mostly fixed in the newer version which I'm working on.
I'm already considering for a LONG time whether I should remove the
first half of Prologue 2 because like what you said, it's totally
unnecessary and it will feel like a drag.
It's just that I haven't gotten enough input as to whether I should
remove it in the first place.
Eh... The school portion is actually important, especially the mid-conversation because they will come back to that... at some point of time.
All of them have their own back story (Some have 2), it's just that I want to focus
on Vincent for the first part as it is the most relevant for the first
part of the game.
Their current personalities will be explained at some point of time.
With Damien being the last few since he's the first to be introduced XD.
Maybe...
That's all I have to say.
Thank you for giving the game a chance.
Do check back again once I've completed it!

its sad that the only one of the 1st 4 you have for quite a while that get much f any backstory is Vincent
others others are just kind of...there...

chapter 14!? how long is this!? i just entered the 2nd prolog and ive been playing for a while!
in that case ive 99.9% sure this will be a canceled project : D
I've split this into 2 parts to make it manageable.
This will end at chapter 7 :D
Black Galax: Blood Legacy
Thanks for the feedback!
I will take the suggestion and feedback to improve and expand on the game. :D

just finished the prequel to this blood legacy
want to see the next events
but from the pictures and such it does not follow characters mentioned in the previous game?
are they going to be enemies?
that a bit disappointing honestly :3
Technically, it does. That's as far as I can say without spoilers.
It's just that due to the rush schedule, I couldn't really add in the 2 characters during the prequel (Which will be expanded once I'm done with this) that is actually relevant to the sequel.
author=shayoko
also about not liking the ending
if the world ends and all humans die ill love it!
since writers are scared to do it or something :3
Well, at the end of it all, Chapter 14, you will find out ;)
