STATUS

So, I work full-time, barely make ends meet, do my best to toe whatever line thrown my way, all for what? More sorrow!? My friend is right. The effort put in is not worth the output given these days. I'm glad I decided to shelf Rift Chronicles.

That's your choice. No one is forcing you to make new accounts, but you were complaining about them so people were giving you ideas for options. There's no need to complain about that.

And acting like following rules is something that should get you a gold star doesn't help in any way. You're supposed to follow the rules. Everyone is. We're all beholden to them, from the newest user to the Admin of the site. That's how we keep it fair for everyone.

You want to shelve the game, your decision. Has nothing to do with anyone else.

I also work full-time but I can't upload an 18+ game to RMN. As Liberty said. It's how it is for everyone.

All the best.

Who says you can't? Just don't advertise it as such, and then when people go to play it, they'll be all like "whaaaaaaah".

That did give me a bit of a chuckle.

Actually, it was a joint decision. I wanted to (initially before running into other backstabbing crap elsewhere) continue with the game, and in time maybe we will release it. But as of right now, Real Life has a Deathgrip on the dev team, which is just two of us, myself and my friend.

But my friend is the more aggressive type and blames the infidelities of others before ever taking the blame (but after all the Hell she's been through I don't blame her one bit).

It's not really about the game being 18+ (and to be honest I was given some false advertising about this site being liberal in what can be posted here); it's about one small thing being piled on top of another and another and so on...'Little by little, becomes a lot...'

It's just too much. I have my own life, my day to day responsibilities, my family (whom of which I'm worried to death about), and I just cannot commit to that much more stress, not now.
We are rather liberal about what gets posted here but we also have certain standards that we allow/require. We've got games about rape and suicide and that do have sexual content (as long as they're treated with respect, of course), we just don't allow explicit or extreme content (which includes detailed descriptions of sexual acts).

(Don't do the Dyhalto thing, btw. XD One guy tried to do that, lying about his game and got it removed and then banned over it.)

That said, if you tone down the sexual parts it might still make the limits, so to speak, it's just that in it's original form as presented, it was too much. I didn't think you'd want to tone it down being as it was someone else's project, which is why I recommended the other sites as we have a bit of crossover. Besides, it's always good to share your games in as many places as possible.

There's also tumblr, (you can make secondary accounts that are linked to your main but not shown as such, so you can hide your identity there if you need to) which has a good dev community.

But yeah, there is a line when it comes to games that we don't cross, even if we are more liberal than some sites.

It is odd that someone cited us as liberal since we don't, you know, allow hate speech (bar when used in a respectful manner (as in, say, a game is set in the '40s and follows a black person's struggle in that era)) or, well, many things really. We also have what some think is a strict policy when it comes to acceptance of reasonable games (mapping/description/etc), which a lot of sites don't have. I guess we're liberal in some ways but restrictive in others. Just like most sites I suppose.

Shit.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

I don't actually know what's going on here but this status title is hilariously melodramatic. The first four sentences sound like the evil chancellor's lines right before he betrays and tries to murder the dark lord in the script of a very badly written high fantasy movie, and then out of nowhere it's suddenly about video games.

Anyway, not being able to post one of your games here is really not a big deal. I'm not sure in what universe video games equate to "committing to more stress" but I don't think I want to live there.

You're magical to me.

I always believe in making the game you want to make, to the best of your abilities, but also working within limitations. In this case, if you feel the explicit content is vital to what you're trying to accomplish, then you'll have to host it elsewhere.

On the other hand, if you can tone it down and leave that aspect to implication or just fade to black before things move on to sex, you can most likely get your game approved.

The questions are "Is having my game hosted on RMN valuable to me? Are the explicit scenes vital to the game? Am I willing to compromise on my vision?"

EDIT: Wait, I may be misunderstanding. Is this a friend's game? And is the game already completed? If so, there are definitely other places you could post the game.
I see a "fuck, I don't want to bother with this shit". Which is cool.
Take your time, take care of yourself, and if you have a little more room to breathe and still want to put it out here (or elsewhere) you can consider doing that then.

All your choice~
I feel a little better today, but even after all things considered, the woman who Rift Chronicles was created by has the final say.

I send correspondence to her on a consistent basis, but she doesn't reply back as swiftly (and I understand why).

No, it's not completed (at least not in an entirety), but some parts are all-set to go or are in good-enough condition to go further.

There is a plan for an external site hosting, but I won't be able to see the results since Eka and I are still feuding (I don't even remember what started it now).

Edit: I was feeling better; only to learn that I've been stabbed in the back again.

Yeah life sure is shit.
Honestly, if it's a friend's game and they're a really bad dev partner and it's causing this level of grief and anguish, I'd probably just jump ship and make my own game.
