Are any of you guys in a bad financial situation?

I have a giant college debt and not much income. The worst part though is my job itself. I get no respect at all at work. I work as a teacher's aid. Last year the staff treated me like dirt even in front of the kids and so the kids had no respect for me.
This year seemed different I was working at a different school the staff SEEMED nice I was working with a group of kids who respected and even liked me. Unfortunately, half way through the year they transferred me to a special needs class; it's the most difficult thing I have ever dealt with. Everyday I come home exhausted, but what's worse is we are constantly under staffed in that class because a class like that needs many people working in it and unfortunately when people are absent they rarely bring in substitutes. The higher ups just don't care about the special needs classes. To top things off the teacher in that class doesn't respect me.
Almost every day one of those kids smacks, punches, kicks, or hits both other kids and the staff. We need more staff in that class but instead of paying for substitutes this school would rather spend its money on trophies for classes that are doing better than the rest. The other teacher aids that work along side me are also tired of this job and are likely going to switch to another class next year. As for me I think I'll try being a substitute teacher instead of a teacher's aid. At least, that way if I encounter a difficult class I won't have to deal with said class every day.
The only good thing about the job now is, I've made a few friends in the school and a couple times a week I use part of my lunch break to read books with the kids from my previous class that actually liked and respected me. I still get to put a smile on their face every now and then and that's the main reason I haven't quit.
Before I end my rant I do want to mention that I love all the kids I've taught during the past 2 years even the ones that don't respect me. It's mostly other adults that have ruined this job for me and I'm just tired of it.

WYRM WARRIORS! Design a location!

Name: Mgombay
Type: Village
Biome: Jungle (If you don't have a jungle tileset then forest is fine. I haven't used VX Ace before so I'm not sure of it's limits)
Character tie-ins: Not sure but, if there is a character that would make sense to put in here then that's fine by me. Just make sure the character left the village before it was cursed or, returned to the village after it was cursed.
Districts: None
Notable features: The Wyrm Wizard cursed the village now every ones minds have swapped with the animals in the village. So the people act like animals and the animals can speak to you.
Description/other details: The area has exotic plants and the trees bare strange shaped fruits.

The houses are round clay homes that look like a beehives.

There are a lot of farm animals.

Most of the NPCs are unhappy to trade bodies with the animals but a couple of people enjoy the freedom of it all.

Many of the NPCs try to live life as a human despite their new appearance. So seeing a cow sleeping in a bed or sweeping the floor is possible here.

The animals who occupy the humans bodies try awkwardly to go on living as simple farm animals

The village elder is a chubby mouse who shuns the players away for fear that they to will be transformed but if you give him cheese he'll tell you how to lift the curse.

The elder believes that if you were to bring back the statue of the village founder, Osae Utu, the villagers will be healed. The statue of Osae Utu is guarded by a boss (it doesn't have to be a boss I create it could be anyone's boss) when you bring the statue back to the village the elder rewards you with really good equipment.

I'm not sure if the statue should heal the village as soon as you give them the statue or if the healing process should be gradual and you only see the result at the end of the game.

One of the NPCs in the village is a germaphobe. He was turned into a pig and now he can't resist the urge to roll around in mud.

Another NPC is a brave warrior who was turned into a chicken.

There's also this hyperactive kid who always whined and complained when he didn't get his way. He was turned into a turtle but, unlike the pig and chicken, he accepted his transformation and has grown to be more laid back and less whiny. He's become a really nice kid ever since he became a turtle.

Whats your favorite gibberish

Felt like posting something goofy.
So tell me what's your favorite gibberish or mumbo jumbo (fun fact the term mumbo jumbo has an African origin)

It can be from of movie, tv show, book, game or even your own made up word whatever it's all good.

One of my favorites is the voices of the Piantas from Mario Sunshine every noise they make is awesome. There is this one thing some of them say that sound like "Dahehe hom dehehe" puts a smile on my face every time.

Opinion on Fangames

I think fan games are cool as long as it doesn't just feel like a rehash of the original. It needs to feel unique but still familiar to fans.
Let me tell you a story. I love Final Fantasy IV I grew up with it. So when I heard it was getting a sequel called the After Years I was really excited but when finally played it I was really let down. The game is too similar to FF IV and lost my interest. Also, I kept accidentally, saving over other files and wound up losing my save data. I'd rather just replay Final Fantasy IV then play the After Years.

P.S. I realize After Years is an official game but I feel it's still relevant to the topic.

Screen shots Less = More?

It's not bad, and custom art like that can be a good draw for potential players.

However, the background is really busy and distracting. The character art should be the focus of the screen, but she's very dark and low contrast compared to the rest.
So my advice - Simplify the background and add some contrast to the character.

That being said, You should totally submit the title screen of your game. It's the first thing people will see. And you know what they say about first impressions; Think of it as a presentation card. Your logo alone can tell lots about your game... Speaking of first impressions, though, mine is kind of a mixed one. I like the custom art, but the background, besides being a filter, doesn't say "Africa" to me. Maybe you had something like this in mind? But it doesn't quite cut it.

I just updated the game and part of that update included a newer version of my title screen. I added some lighting to the background to make it a bit less distracting and brightened the two characters. I also, included some African symbols to the bottom of the screen. Specifically they are Ashanti Adinkra symbols. If you are curious the X shaped one means: freedom and emancipation. The swirly one means: energy. The one that looks like an eyeball means: universe.
I added the title to my screenshots if you would like to check it out

Little efforts in your RPG go a long way... right?

Little things definitely add a lot. For example one of my favorites is that weird symbol that appears in Majora's Mask's Clock Tower that only reappears again in Ikana Castle. Does that mean Ikana had a hand in constructing Clock Town? Maybe.

Games you love but everyone hates.

When I saw this topic I thought of Final Fantasy XII but not sure if that really counts. The game has good reviews but a lot of people hated the battle system. Personally it wasn't my favorite battle system but I enjoyed it. I like the fact that SquareEnix is always experimenting with the JRPG.
I have yet to play FF XIII but I plan to eventually. People's negative opinions about it have not deterred me from wanting to play it but right now I'm too busy with Xenoblade.
Zelda 2 is another solid game that people hate on.

As a side note, I'm glad I read this because a noticed a lot of talk about the Saga series and I just realized that I still haven't gotten around to beating Romancing Saga 3 I started playing it more than a year ago but I got so busy with other stuff that I kinda forgot about it.

I feel so guilty doing another art topic

Reminds me of Final Fantasy Tactics. When I first saw this style used in Tactics I thought the absence of the nose was odd but the style has grown on me over the years.
Although, I instantly see it being in that style I do think you have put in a good deal to personalize the style. The way you textured these peices certainly brings something new to the table. I believe the line quality in yours is bolded and more expressive. Plus, the body proportion are quite fun.
One more thing, I just noticed that the outline on that last piece was transitioning from black to blue. That's really cool you should use that effect more often.
P.S. Just noticed that effect in the first piece as well.

accha art, yay

This is great and I know others have already said it but I do really like the color palette. I also enjoy the whimsy of the characters.
